Burnley did with Coyle? What you mean we got an email saying Coyle was interested in the job and so approached his club, spoke to him with their consent then agreed the compensation package?

I wonder if St Johntson inserted a sell on clause? They should have given that burnley are about to make money out of him.

Sorry it's off topic but I dont know anyone who cares about Bolton either way.

What about Max and Paddy?

I'm surprised at parts of the media saying that this is a bad move for Coyle. It isn't.

Similarly, it's been said it's a sideways step. It isn't.

Come the end of the season I think Burnley will be relegated and Bolton will not. I think Burnley would have been relegated regardless of Coyle leaving.

Bolton are an established Premier League outfit. Burnley are having a Barnsley/Bradford-type fliration with the top flight.

Coyle's stock is as high as it was ever going to be with Burnley and he wisely knew when to cash in his chips. Clever chap!

:( I feel kinda sad it`s all over & done with :(

I was enjoying watching the returds in their moment of anguish & wanted it to continue for a bit longer.

Watching their attitude towards "god" changing was a joy to behold....

1....Owen Coyle is god!

2....He won`t go, he loves Bumley!

3....I hope he won`t go

4....PLEASE don`t go!!

5....It`s looking like he`s going

6....He`s going

7....There`s a chance he`ll stay, we still love you

8....No, he`s off

9....He`s a goofy judas ####!!!

10....He wasn`t that good anyway

11....tbh i never really rated him

Chelsea well run? You've a great knowledge of football clearly.

As for Coyle, I'm not anywhere near as arsed as some. Once you start referring to yourself in the third person then you've got above your station. It's Kilby who rescues our club time and again, I trust him to make another good appointment.

And I presume none of you who mock some of my fellow Dingles' over-reactions were patrons of Deadwood when Shearer left for pastures new.

Come on you Clarets.

Shearer - Coyle. No comparrison.

If you want to make compassisons compare Hughes leaving for City to Coyle leaving for notlob.

You need to take a leaf out of longsiders book, if you want to make comment on a Rovers messageboard lets have less of the nonsense that you may post on your inbred boards.

I am a fan and coach children's teams. That's it. Traslation- I know very little about football. And I admit it.

On the other hand, Chelsea is number 1 in the league, has a high likelihood of winning it, and has virtually no debt. Despite the revolving door manager, I am very comfortable congratulating the owner for his management of Chelsea. They've done the club no harm and have taken it to and maintained its position at the top.

I placed Chelsea at number 1 in terms of ownership contribution, not in terms of quality of management but even Kenyon was never the sick joke that Gary Cook continues to be at City.

You can hardly argue with a £700m injection of equity can you? Slight contrast with the Glazers injecting £700m of debt into the Mancs.

Grayson would be the best of the mentioned candidates as far as keeping the team playing in the manner they've grown accustomed to under Coyle.

Unsettling managers is just a fact of life unless you're willing to recruit exclusively from the elite pool of unemployed managers. I think Gareth Southgate is still available..

Seems like someone is splitting hairs.

End of the day...Coyle was under contract at another team. You went after him and got him. Bolton did the same.

At the end of the day, all the rest is superfluous.

No it isn't - you will notice the distinct lack of media articles etc at the time we recruited Coyle.

Actually the media thing is the real reason I came back on - I am led to believe that Nixon has been banned from Turf Moor.

As evidenced by their over 40 million of bank debt - eh these clubs living beyond their means Owen, it is outrageous isn't it.

I hear Mr Nixon has more revelations for us in tomorrows People - I can't wait to see this balanced piece.

Some might think it's a step back for grayson. Should he get them up, with their support, ground and history Leeds are a much bigger sleeping giant and a much bigger club in every aspect.

The 2 clubs will be swapping places rapidly.........

First time I heard about Owen Coyle, I think, was on here.

Yes. Nicko has been very supportive of Coyle all the way through. Even winding up Rovers fans a little on here in the purpose. I remember he didn't like the Rovers fans laughing themselves silly when you just failed to reach the cup final. So...yes, Nicko is 100% supportive of Coyle. However, inm the long run, Burnley have come out of their association with Coyle VERY healthily. It probably isn't easy to be impartial just now. Similar to when Shearer left us we had some calling him Judas and liar.

It was just inevitable, though...these things are very rarely handled amicably. Maybe Hughes leaving was...but that is because, frankly, we had seen it coming for ages and also we are used to players/managers departing all the time. At the time, though, it could also have been viewed as a backward step. We had, after all, just finished above them 3 seasons in a row. They were owned by a Human Rights ignoring ex-Thai president with money problems then as well...

What can you do though? Who in football is loyal? Only fans to their club. Even they aren't loyal to players or managers unless they do what they want. Remember United fans booing Giggs? How many Arsenal fans have questioned Wenger at times?

I don't blame the Burnley fans just like the reaction was understandable when Shearer left. All this "Judas" and "half a man that other managers are" is way over the top though isn't it?

Why are Burnley fans upset at nicko again? From what I understand he just wrote some articles about Coyle leaving. How does that deserve such extreme responses? People must think he has amazing powers of prophecy if they think whatever he writes comes true and that was the reason Coyle left...

Nice to know there is still some honesty in the press.

Piers Morgan writes

I’m thrilled that Alexander won. Because he personifies the genuine, decent, professional footballer. And let’s face it, if ever Burnley fans needed something to cheer them up, then surely it is this week.

For the behaviour of their ‘saviour’, Alexander’s boss Owen Coyle, has been utterly disgraceful.

For a few pieces of mercenary silver, he has betrayed everyone with whom he worked and everyone who admired him.

...

What can you say about a manager who seemed to epitomise all that is solid, reliable and loyal about the game… but who turned out to be Judas Iscariot in a claret-and-blue scarf? ...

More than 200,000 votes were cast, of which 168,933 went to one man, Burnley legend Graham Alexander, who has made more club appearances than any player in the Premier League

Obviously the Burnley fans suspect Nicko has acted as a vessel for Coyle to get the message out of what he wants in the public domain.

In your opinion that is. What has this "Legend" won votes for and how has he become a legend so quick, didn't Coyle bring him to you and he.... well was a legend two weeks ago. How iconic will he be if he buggars off to the Reebok too?

Not 100% sure, something like Daily Mail Football Personality Of The Year, not much but lets face it more than Horwich are going to win this season, or any season in the forseeable future come to think of it.

Didn't realise what i posted earlier was an edited version (coppied and pasted from another forum).

The full article even raised my eyebrows (and I am saving up for an 'owen coyle is scum' tattoo on my forehead)

USA NO he didn't.

Full article:

For the behaviour of their ‘saviour’, Alexander’s boss Owen Coyle, has been utterly disgraceful. This is a man who knew he carried the hopes and dreams of a whole town with him when he took Burnley into the top flight. He talked all the talk about how much he loved the club, the fans, the town.

But when it came to it, he jumped ship at the first sign of a slightly bigger chequebook. It’s laughable that he sees Bolton as a ‘bigger club’. They’re not. They will be struggling just as much as Burnley for survival this season. The only thing that’s ‘bigger’ is Coyle’s new pay packet.

For a few pieces of mercenary silver, he has betrayed everyone with whom he worked and everyonewho admired him. Even my old mucker, Alastair Campbell, Burnley’s most famous fan, is at a loss to find a good thing to say about this appalling piece of treachery. AND I don’t blame him. What can you say about a manager who seemed to epitomise all that is solid, reliable and loyal about the game… but who turned out to be Judas Iscariot in a claret-and-blue scarf?

Treacherous: Coyle's defection has left Piers flabbergasted

In two weeks’ time, in a delicious piece of good fortune for everyone like me who loves seeing traitors meet their victims while the carcasses are still hanging from the crosses, Burnley play Bolton at the Reebok. I hope the extraordinary passion that Burnley fans brought to their voting in my awards for Alexander is matched, if not eclipsed, by their passion in howling their fury at Coyle that day. And I sincerely hope that come the end of the season, Burnley stay up and Bolton go down.

Lol wasn't Alexander the one who made that comical header to give Di Santo his goal when we played them?

I still don't understand why nicko is a pariah there now. The guy's a journalist, he's just doing his job. Are Burnley fans turning on everyone who's friends or family with Coyle now?? Pretty ridiculous... oh wait, these are people on a Burnley messageboard... nevermind.

Legend is over used these days.

1. More than 200,000 votes were cast, of which 168,933 went to one man Burnley legend Graham Alexander - What poll was this. ?

2. Burnley legend - who has made more club appearances than any player in the Premier League - Not in the premiership he hasnt

3. Burnley legend - who has made more club appearances than any player in the Premier League - I presume the 354 appearances for PNE account for the majority of his appearances in the lower leagues.
