Nice to know there is still some honesty in the press.

Piers Morgan writes

If you want to start a debate about honesty in the press then fine by me yorky. However I don't think I would be using Piers Moron as my template. Just think back to his departure from the editor's job at the Mirror. Something about fake photos of abuse by QLR troops in Iraq, as I recall. Photos allegedly taken in Fulwood Barracks unfortunately.

Piers Morgan couldn't find his own arse with both hands.

I get ever so angry when Loyalty becomes an issue in football, there simply cannot be loyalty with regard to players and managers, owners, yes, Chairmen and Directors, yes, but not managers and players!

Take a young player who has loyally stayed at a club from being say 8 or 9 years old, the majority of these lads are sent packing at 16 or 17 the lucky ones at 18, then we get the ones who after 2 years as a professional are then discarded!!

Then we get a manager who takes his club to one, sometimes two promotions, then doesnt do so well, the same thing applies, he is shown the door!! Yes they are well paid and compensated but loyalty works two ways, unfortunately in football, its a results business, if you dont get results, you get shown the door!!

Only previliged few spend more than 10 years in management, many drop to coaching, scouting etc!!

So why if a guy takes advantage of a situation where he is 'head hunted' is he pillaried?

We as football fans have loyalty to our club, we would never change being true Blues, we sometimes fail to understand that players cant be like that with the exception of your Dunnys who are proper fans of the club they play for but even the Dunnys will have to move on if the situation was right for his career, they owe it to themselves, its ambition to get as far as they can, just like you and I in our own jobs, bugger the company, if we can get more money, better standard of living, we will do that!!

Rightly or wrongly, those are my views!

I’m thrilled that Alexander won. Because he personifies the genuine, decent, professional footballer. And let’s face it, if ever Burnley fans needed something to cheer them up, then surely it is this week.

For the behaviour of their ‘saviour’, Alexander’s boss Owen Coyle, has been utterly disgraceful.

For a few pieces of mercenary silver, he has betrayed everyone with whom he worked and everyone who admired him.

...

What can you say about a manager who seemed to epitomise all that is solid, reliable and loyal about the game… but who turned out to be Judas Iscariot in a claret-and-blue scarf? ...

More than 200,000 votes were cast, of which 168,933 went to one man, Burnley legend Graham Alexander, who has made more club appearances than any player in the Premier League

I saw that poll linked from the claret-mad website and had to laugh. Apart from the Burnley fans all working out how to 'clear their cache' and 'mask their IP' so that they could vote multiple times, there was one poster obsessed with writing a macro to increase the vote. Looks like he must have succeeded.

When I checked the actual poll, "Grez" was on about 78% and Craig Bellamy(!) on about 16%. Craig Bellamy as a contender Football Personality of the Year, FFS! The rest of the list was bobbins as well. A joke really.

Just for the hell of it I voted for Bellamy too.

Kin ell! You know they're desperate when they're quoting Piers Morgan! Especially when it's to talk about taking the money! Might as well get the Artful Dodger to talk about how bad pick-pocketing is. And by the way. Isn't he big mates with Campbell? Surely Burnley wouldn't be stooping as low as Coyle and getting a friendly journo to say their piece would they?

Why dont Rovers throw in a cheeky bid for Eagles....balls 'em up even more!

Welcome to the cut throat world of the Prem Clarrotts!

He's on the bench more often than he's on the pitch. It was the same in the Championship.

Mind you, he has an alice band, a lambourghini and says 'when I was at Old Trafford...' a lot.

So yeah, he probably is a Premier League footballer. Bid away..

No he's a bloody fairy, skilfull, no end product but another who thinks he is better than he thinks, only player I would look at at Turd Morgue would be McDonald, think he will come, maybe Fletcher as well, the rest are not Prem quality!!

I don't think anybody is totally surprised that Coyle isn't "The New Shankly", or that there is "no loyalty in modern-day football" - i Doubt we'll ever see a Shankly again. I think what grates with many people in this day and age, is that there are many individuals who style themselves on possessing a bit of soul, a bit of tradition, a bit of "normal bloke". But they do this purely to win popular support.

Coyle tried this. Shown as a hypocrite.

Gerrard's stance on diving he has reiterated numerous occasions including in his autobiography. Shown as a hypocrite.

I don't think people would be that annoyed with Coyle, if he hadn't preached to being houlier than thou.

Brian Laws is the favourite on Skybet with Paul Jewell second favourite. The latter would be hilarious as he is bobbins, and a real relegation manager. I'd sneak a pound on Lambert t 10/1 though. He is very ambitious and has no qualms about moving clubs in a short space of time. Gary Speed at 66/1 is a real leftfield choice worth keeping an eye on.

Laws is also the favourite on the other bookies, but they also mention Gary Neville at around 16/1.

Lee Clark as short as 1/2 now

Give over eh! they'd be partying in Yorkshire st if the situation was other way around.

They are a shambles of a club though.

Just makes it more interesting IMO having a few proper derbies to look forward to. I'd list last years game as probably the best day/night out I had all year and there were plenty of good ones to choose from!

If we wish to question Morgan perhaps we should wonder about your own Nicko's credentials - wasn't there a newspaper piece about him writing ultra positive articels about a company he had shares in? I'm sure I have a PDF of it somewhere, it think it was around the same time as some Everton fans questioned his involvement in Rooney's transfer.

Davis going was a shocker - seems Coyle has decided to not only leave but do his very best to screw us over in the process. Now down to the personalities in the dressing room. I have no idea what each of them are like but if they all pull together then pro's like Alexander, Caldwell and Carlisle can maybe engineer some fighting spirit.

As for Coyle coming back for players - he'd better open up the cheque book because I really cannot see our Chairman being in the mood to negotiate with him - and lest we forget, one unexepcted benefit of our pay policy is any player wishing to 'play up' to get a transfer can easily be left in the reserves, it's not like they are costing us 50k a week is it.
