FourLaneBlue Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The Wally is top of the Dutch league having won 15 and drawn 2 of their opening 17 games. Would be mad to jack that in...must be living the life of Reilly...

Kelbo Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Working in Dingle land, they are going mental here, think Brian Laws is a top candidate along with Lee Clark, Clark they may accept but its a revolt if Laws gets it, they say cheap option!! then Coyle has slated Burnley as being second rate with regards to funding and facilities!
yorkyclaret Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Such bitterness Surprised we get as high as SECOND rate for funding.
Kelbo Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Such bitterness Surprised we get as high as SECOND rate for funding. Yorky, Working over here it appears that your lads would not be happy with Laws, many say O'Driscoll would be good, but they dont think Simon Grayson will come and Clark has said there has been no contact!! so who would you like as your new manager?
bobsterbrfc Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 To be fair to McClaren, he'd have been a damn sight better option than Ince! I'm sure he'll come back to England eventually.
Hughesy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 To be fair to McClaren, he'd have been a damn sight better option than Ince! I'm sure he'll come back to England eventually. To be fair to anyone - they would be a better option than Ince.. John Barnes maybe......
yorkyclaret Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Yorky, Working over here it appears that your lads would not be happy with Laws, many say O'Driscoll would be good, but they dont think Simon Grayson will come and Clark has said there has been no contact!! so who would you like as your new manager? I would LIKE Sparky, but it aint going to happen, come to think of it he hasn't, to my knowledge, ruled himself out of it like he did at Bolton. Million quid a year contract or 70 quid a week on the dole? Nothing to lose for him either, if we go down 'it's all down to finance' if we stay up 'he's a miracle worker' More realisticly, of those mentioned I would think Grayson the best manager, just think he may be using us to get more money out of Bates.
cletus Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 You gotta laugh at those dingle chaps!! Firstly, they stamp their little 6 toed feet & scream "Coyle to Bolton is a sideways step!!!" ......then they want Grayson to lower his horizons & go to Bumley!! Leeds United may well be in League 1, but it`s 10 times the club Bumley will EVER be. Next season they`ll be in the same league. Bumley will be back down to gates of 12k whilst Leeds will be hitting 30k on a regular basis. Grayson is best staying put. Talk about taking a sideways step!! Come to think of it, if i was the Doncaster boss, i would consider the bumley job a step backwards too
budha Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Mirror's David Anderson has Ince as the main contender now. Which would be nice. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Paul-Ince-has-emerged-as-the-main-contender-to-replace-Owen-Coyle-at-Burnley-article284915.html
BuckyRover Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Imagine if he keeps Burnley in the Premier League at our expense. Ha!
Steve Moss Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Imagine if he keeps Burnley in the Premier League at our expense. Now I'm going to have nightmares.
BuckyRover Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 For clarity, I don't believe Ince will finish above us if he is appointed at Burnley.
longsiders1882 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 As I understand it there are 3 candidates Laws O'Driscoll and a new name Steve Clarke
PAFELL Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Mirror's David Anderson has Ince as the main contender now. Which would be nice. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Paul-Ince-has-emerged-as-the-main-contender-to-replace-Owen-Coyle-at-Burnley-article284915.html It would be good for Ince to go to Burnley - after all they do not expect to stay up. As much as I do not want Ince as a rovers manager because he failed - it does nor make him a failure - it was just too early in his managment career. I would like him to be given another chance in the prem - if it means taking Burnley down so be it. But humanly speaking, give the man a chance. I would like to see another Englishman given a chance in football management - Rovers have higher expectations than Burnley, so the cost is not as great for them. If they do give Ince the chance - so be it. But can he take Andrews with him?
CaliRoverNYC Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 The ESPN blog is saying Brian Laws is in line for a 6 finger deal. seems funny getting sacked from a team near-bottom of the championship and getting a promotion to the prem.
philipl Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Paul Ince was going to be too good to be true but Brian Laws is an absolute belter as well. Interesting to see how Ince's media mates have talked him up for the dingles job just before he gets sacked at MK Dons.

Interesting to see how Ince's media mates have talked him up for the dingles job just before he gets sacked at MK Dons. Surely the Prem League wouldnt let him manage again without a pro license??
dudedog Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 i have also heard that Ince is a very strong candidate!
SAS Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I had to laugh at 2BR yesterday. Every news round they kept laughing in an angry way that the bolton chairman has said coyle has took a step up. It was a real bitterness, angry, jealous laugh. Then they kept reiterating it was a sideways step. An established prem side with a wage bill bigger than tuppence, a bigger more modern stadium with top training facilities with an actual transfer budget. Of course its sideways lol
dudedog Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Sean O'Driscoll is a very good football coach and I know for a fact that he has been considered by Burnley. But he is one of the dullest managers you have ever come across. If he has been interviewed I would guess he has been scored off the list. lookis like he is the chosen one then! Enough already. Who is backing Sean O'Driscoll for the Burnley job? This is becoming a bit too bizarre. lots of people it seems!
nicko Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 looks like he is the chosen one then! I am still stunned that O'Driscoll is favourite. His record is good, his football is fine. But personality-wise...let's just say I wouldn't be backing him to get the job just yet.
Zulu Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 But surely this would be a sideways step for O'Driscoll? Surely he has a contract with Doncaster Rovers? Surely Burnley would not be looking to unsettle him? etc etc etc
dulwich Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Quick question Nicko, why would his personality be a deciding factor?
longsiders1882 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 He was the first name I thought of - I wasn't to worried about his media persona but I guess that is a fans failing, all I cared about was what I saw on the pitch. Of course it could be a left field appointment that the media have not picked up on but they are generally close, certainly in terms of who has been seen about the job. I know Laws was one we were keen in the past, he's available (subject to his Sheff Weds compo being sorted) and won't cost us. I cannot see them taking a chance on Ince and Clark seems as big a gamble. I would have loved to get Grayson and he would have been one of my first choices if I'd thought for one minute he would leave Leeds. At this stage I have absolutely no idea who the club would prefer or if indeed they are close to a decision.
nicko Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Quick question Nicko, why would his personality be a deciding factor? I think you need a bit of 'life' about you in the Premier League - for the players, for the fans and for the media. It's ok doing a very good, steady job in a Championship club that is virtually ignored. There is a spotlight in the Premier and you need to be able to handle yourself. It's showbiz these days, like it or not.
