BRFCGrez Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 To be fair, it is sheer lunacy if they go for Laws.

broadsword Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Brian Laws, the man who broke his striker's cheekbone. Should go down well with dingles.
Hughesy Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Betfair is going mad with bets for Laws - 10k in about 1 1/2 minutes since iv been watching
BRFCGrez Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Only one relegation place to play for! Good news.
Zulu Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Only 12 days gone of it yet I know. We could stuff Arsenal twice in four days next week! (only joking before you all pile in.) If it really is Brian Laws we cannot accuse him of making a sideways move. Off the dole has got to be an improvement. Well done Burnley!
Zulu Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 By the way, how ###### is that Clarets Mad site as a piece of software? It feels like it's been thrown together by a couple of teenage IT programmers in the mid 1980's. Probably state-of-the-art for Nelson and Colne though.
Exiledfan Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Laws = Purely financial decision. There's nothing in his record that matches the criteria set by the board (young and promising) or that indicates Prem quality. I assume they think fans will swallow it better due to his connection to the club. Sky are even saying he wasn't first choice.

Sounds like they've already decided they're relegated and preparing for next season. I'm laughing my socks off, hilarious appointment.
Steve Moss Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Sounds like they've already decided they're relegated and preparing for next season. I'm laughing my socks off, hilarious appointment. Good. Now if we can only give another squad or two a small push in that direction I will feel much better.
Backroom Tom Posted January 12, 2010 Backroom Posted January 12, 2010 Forgive my ignorance but what is so funny about Laws?
BRFCGrez Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Sacked in every job he has been at, took Sheffield Wednesday from mid table Championship to relegation battlers, nuts his own players (see above). Seems quite amusing to me, they're going down.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Laws is a very poor appointment for the Dingles. The only saving grace is that they they don't attract criticism for poaching another manager after they complained about Bolton doing the same.
longsiders1882 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I can't say Laws would be my first choice but equally I find attitudes on here somewhat blinkered - I think had we appointed Jose some would find something to point to it being a poor choice. Lets get a few things clear - firstly the club have wanted Laws in the past so it is not entirely surprising. Sure things in the end didn't go to well at Wednesday, that could be said of all their recent managers. That club have never really adjusted to getting knocked out of the top flight. What is equally true is he did well at Scunthorpe. Is he a good appointment? Well with all appointments only time will tell but I have to say it will not inspire many fans. As for the idea that we are 'preparing for relegation' - shock, horror, really? We have prepared for that since we won promotion - in the same way as people have said 'Pray for peace, prepare for war' we have tried to have a strategy that gave us half a shout at staying up but would leave us sound if we went down. No point coming into the premier league and being unrealistic, we haven't been and frankly of the 20 clubs in there we will be less damaged by relegation than any other, at least financially. On the bright side we are half way through the season and half way towards our survival target and probably already 10 points better off than 80% of the posters on here thought we would be by the end of the season. Football is a funny old game and who's to say we won't yet surprise everybody. (Still, Laws, mmmmm, I want to be positive, I really, really do.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 You seem much less fretful than 99% of the Dingles on CarrotMad Longsiders. They are, by self admission, suicidal.

I don't think they would!. But you keep telling yourself that longsider.
USABlue Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Who's Jose? Didn't Laws have a terrific start for Sheff Weds? I wish him all the worst but glass houses and stones comes to mind.
trs Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Forgive my ignorance but what is so funny about Laws? The "Laws" an ass!

Of course you find attitudes blinkered on here--its a Blackburn Rovers site!!!
koi Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Forgive my ignorance but what is so funny about Laws? He's very much in the Clough (Brian that is) school of management except he doesn't have the talent and that style no longer works with millionaire footballers.
Cocker Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 He's very much in the Clough (Brian that is) school of management except he doesn't have the talent and that style no longer works with millionaire footballers. Bunrley don't have any Millionaire footballers though?
Hughesy Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Brian Laws Grimsby - Sacked Scunthorpe - Sacked Scunthorpe (Again) - Left for Sheff Weds Sheff Weds - Quit after guiding the owls to 22nd in the league...... Great choice Dingles - total lack of ambition. Shows the level of their set-up!

I've seen this posted on the Clarets Mad website, they are quite rightly changing their opinions on him after seeing him in action. Brian Laws Showing Talent I think you will all agree he's obviously amazing. Is it too late for us to sneak in there infront of Burnley and appoint him in light of the dressing room squabbles at Man City??!!??
