ABBEY Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 ... and we'll still finish above you at the end of the season, no matter what happens next Tuesday. Regardless of what has happened it would have been an important fixture for us to try and win - now it has extra spice. Having watched the Arsenal game I didn't quite see this wonderous performance you all did - looked much like we've seen at Burnley all season without the crisp passing - similar standard of finishing. ************************************************* AS HARRY HILL WOULD SAY ..........DUELLING BANJO FIGHT!!! and if they both fall in the bath chuck ya washing in!!!

JAL Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 ... and we'll still finish above you at the end of the season, no matter what happens next Tuesday. But you knew that already. Thought the camera angle for the Arsenal game was a significant improvement for viewing games at the Reebok. The game had a very European feel about it, and I dont mean because there were hardly any British players, just thought the whole feel was very continental. Well done !
thenodrog Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 ... and we'll still finish above you at the end of the season, no matter what happens next Tuesday. But you knew that already. As long as there's at least 17 above the pair of you... and we are one of them I'll be well suited.
Backroom Tom Posted January 18, 2010 Backroom Posted January 18, 2010 Was that it JAL? Watching MOTD it was bugging me as the Reebok looked different but couldn't out my finger on how
JAL Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Was that it JAL? Watching MOTD it was bugging me as the Reebok looked different but couldn't out my finger on how Yes that was it, been advocating for nearly 15 years that Rovers need to change the height of our camera angle to give a more pleasing look. Bolton looked like they've seized the initative.
longsiders1882 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I certainly expected Rovers to finish above us before a ball was kicked this season, not really seen anything to make me change that assesment. Then again I expected Bolton to be comfortably above us long before now and thought we'd be scraping near the bottom, trying to avoid a repeat of performances like Derby and Sunderland, vying for the bottom 3 with Wolves, Birmingham, Hull, Portsmouth. What happens next is anybodies guess but I don't mind saying I wouldn't mind seeing Bolton in the bottom three come the end of this season. Seems unlikely but stranger things have happened.

Bolton looked like they've seized the initative. Funny, I've always hate the continental camera angle.
DeadlyDirk Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Be very careful not to pre empt situations!!! Brian Laws does seem an odd appointment but lets see how he goes before we comment too much, I would hate us to be left with egg on our faces, but hang on here, has he got a pro license?? Now that would be very interesting to know!! What a joke those pro licenses are, I wonder who the last manager was that got denied a job for not having a pro license, the only time you seem to hear about them are when managers get special permission to take a job without having already earned them. Just to point out I have read the thread and know that Laws has one, just made me think about whether or not it has actually stopped a manager getting a job in other cases. They always just seem to find a workaround.

broadsword Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 From Wikipedia: In June 1983, Bond took over at Burnley, newly relegated to Division Three and with high expectations of going straight back up. He brought in some of his previous players from Manchester City, selling players such as Trevor Steven, Lee Dixon and Brian Laws, the previous season's player of the year, who were all destined for greater things. Ha! I didn't know that Laws was a former Burnley player.
CrazyIvan Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 From Wikipedia: Ha! I didn't know that Laws was a former Burnley player. Hmm, this ex-players as managers thing is really catching... Where's Tugay?
nicko Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Burnley have just taken three members of backroom staff from Sheffield Wednesday. No further comment required.

They always just seem to find a workaround. They were brought in to enable a higher standard in ALL European countries, trouble is in England we just let anyone have a job without them. This doesn't happen on the continent and IMO is something we need to stop. But once the gates opened. Burnley have just taken three members of backroom staff from Sheffield Wednesday. No further comment required. Still thinking like a Championship team, what is wrong with them? Surely he should have been looking to get in one or two who had good premiership experience (Archie Knox does not count), I think Laws has missed a trick here in improving the team he works with. Ah well what do you expect from a dingle they do like to keep things in the family.
thenodrog Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Just noticed that..... Are they really skint or something? Not yet but Kilby and Flood are milking their own personal cash cow for all they are worth. I don't think the natives have sussed yet but there will be ructions in the local chippies and shopping centre when they finally grasp the situation.

I thought they were all foragers?
longsiders1882 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Burnley have just taken three members of backroom staff from Sheffield Wednesday. No further comment required. Not sure I see your point? Not yet but Kilby and Flood are milking their own personal cash cow for all they are worth. I don't think the natives have sussed yet but there will be ructions in the local chippies and shopping centre when they finally grasp the situation. Keep banging that drum. It has been made clear since promotion that the club were going to repay all outstanding loans - in the main these were directly to directors. Not sure I see the basis for your assertion that anybody is 'milking the cash cow'. You also seem to be unaware that we have a board of directors, not just those 2. Still, we will all know when the accounts are published won't we, especially when they show some of the directors suddenly paying themselves huge salaries or announcing massive dividends for the shareholders.
nicko Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Not sure I see your point? Owen Coyle takes backroom staff to Bolton...screaming and wailing. Brian Laws takes backroom staff to Burnley...oh, that's all right then.

It's the modern world. I guess Irvine wants his own men in at SW anyway so this is prob a convenient solution all round.
