nicko Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I accept that you read trash in all the papers on a daily basis that journo's have either put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5 or just randomly made stuff up to fill the pages, but something like this could and would seriously tear our dressing room apart. I imagine that is the whole idea, so that all the players kick off meaning Laws will lose the dressing room straight away which will leave OC open to come back and take any player he wants without a fight. If that is the whole idea which is exactly what I and practically every other Claret believes, then something needs to be done for the sake of football in general. Like I said it's happy days for you lot now, but one day it will happen to you. I might be wrong and would apologise for that, but I'm certain I am right about this. The only way this kind of deal could happen is if we pay the player a large singing on bonus, but pay him 15k per week to even it out over the season and offer to double the wages should we stay up. However, I still don't buy that because next season we would have to give a lot of the players a big pay rise and double our wage bill. We probably would need to do something like that to seriously do anything in the PL, but I don't see it happening due to the ethos of our club and board at this moment in time. I personally expect us to raise the wage limit if we stay up, but 20k a week is more than likely the highest we would go to otherwise we could easily follow all the other clubs in to debt and administration if or when relegation happens. Seriously deluded. You 'might be wrong' but then are 'certain I am right?' Your crackpot idea about how players are paid is beyond me. They have contracts, they don't change. Some are up for renewal in the summer. Your top earners are not even on £15k a week. You WILL have to pay more to get new players. How much do you think Nugent is on if you choose to keep him? Is that disrupting anything? No, it's a fact. You say Kilgallon may be getting a signing-on fee as part of his wages. Eh? That is real money, earnings. Does that not count? You WILL have more money to spend next season if you stay up, a lot of your cash this season went on old bills and loans. If you don't invest it in fees and wages you will be in trouble. YOUR money men have obviously made that decision already which is why Kilgallon was offered such a surprisingly large deal.

BPF Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Like I said it's happy days for you lot now, but one day it will happen to you. What? 1. We have no money 2. We are getting used to taking 5 - 0, 6 - 0 drubbings 3. The future of the management team is in the balance 4. We are in very serious threat of going down. Also the rest of your post reads with such a lack of understanding or knowledge. My word.
47er Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Burnley made a record offer to Kilgallon. I know the exact details funnily enough. Check it out for yourself if you want. However he wants to go to Everton. Shocked the life out of me, but there it is. How does that put your club in a 'bad light'? There will be another bid for a player coming soon...hope you don't find it insulting. I thought the Mods have said previously that they will not allow fans from other clubs coming on here discussing THEIR club with Nicko. This is a Rovers site chaps so bog off to your own.
mhead Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Latest News: I got Incey Wincey sacked....by Mhead Got back from working away.Ticket for Wigan away. After the abysmal match I was on SkySports News every 10 minutes for 3 days with my Roman "thumbs-down" salute. Watch out for it on Sunday! But it may be too early. And then an early goal for Villa may start it twitching. Shearer/Speed/Parkes by february.

jonv Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Shearer? Are you having a laugh? He was only at Newcastle as a heroic face. He looked lost on the touch line, would be as bad as Ince - will be found out way too quickly.
mark Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 In this case I had about 15-20 calls on the subject during the 24 hours after Man City. And quite a few e-mails. I will be more specific about what after Sunday. Apart from anything else it is always an idea to keep a couple of bullets in your chamber. can you tell us if its good or bad news? or give us a tiny hint...
SouthAussieRover Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 can you tell us if its good or bad news? or give us a tiny hint... FFS stop feeding the guys ego.

Sandiway Blue Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 *shakes head.... One thing that people ought to have learned from last season,is that `rookie` managers with no experience of managing in the top flight rarely succeed. As our six-fingered friends down the road are just about to find out, thankfully!

MeanGreenMachine Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Talk about living the dream with some people, Shearer... Flitcroft... Is that the best we are hoping for? Id much rather go for Sven, has good contacts, good manager and will be out of County now the cash has dried up.
Amo Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Shearer couldn't even save his boyhood club when the hour called for him, so by that reckoning what makes you think he'd be a success here? It's not like he even has an affinity with the club; he barely ever recognises us in the media. He was a great player, but he's a monotonous pundit and only has relegation on his managerial CV. Wake up, cupcakes.

Wake up, cupcakes. I would love to see Mark Hughes come back to Rovers - for it to happen before wednesday - for him to inspire Rovers to a good win v villa. Then for Rovers to meet man city in the final. For me even if Rovers win on sunday, enough is enough. Sam out and Mark Hughes in.
bobsterbrfc Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Nicko - I don't know if you have heard anything but on another football message board someone is claiming there has been "action" within Rovers today and news will be coming out soon enough....Any ideas?

Sorry to say, I've been involved in other matters for most of the day. Not heard anything new myself.
bobsterbrfc Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I suspect it is probably shenanigans anyway.
EwoodGlory Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Was it this post? i've just seen it elsewhere, was posted at 14:47 You heard it here 1stmy dad has sources at the club Should be confirmed soon He's not at Rovers fan either.
andyroversmad Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Get Mark Hughes back ! I would rather give Slaven Bilić or Michael Laudrup a chance than have Big Sam.

LeChuck Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 For me even if Rovers win on sunday, enough is enough. Sam out and Mark Hughes in. Hughes will NEVER come back. The only managers we could get are ones desperate to establish a name for themselves in the Premier League, or a more established manager desperate to get back into the game. Hughes is neither and will wisely bide his time for the right job. He'll get something before the season's out for sure, at a club that will give him money to spend instead of a -£15 million budget.
