I don't get the anti nicko sentiment...

Nicko's contribution to the boards are fantastic.. I would be shocked if what he reported didn't contain large amounts of the truth.. I personally think that Sam's job should still be on the line. Yes, we won. No the performance wasn't good.

Korea won today 2-0 in their friednly against Finland. Is Gu Ja Cheol winging his way over as promised Nicko?

I know that was mentioned a few weeks ago but it has gone very quiet. I will try to find out.

The South Korean kid at Bolton looks a player - and I am not just saying that because of the new manager.

Lets just wait and see eh? ;) Pride usually comes before a fall remember. You lot can easily have been just a flash in the pan yet ol Nicko is cooing and billing over Coyle like a love struck teenage girl.

It would be an excellent move, if true. :tu:

I agree that Nicko's contribution is fantastic. I enjoy his posts and the insights they provide to no end.

As to the critical posts, I think half are just jokesters yanking his chain and mean no personal offense. The other half are divided into two categories, Burnley supporters (whether in or out of the closet) and people who like to pick at other people just because, usually a vague idea of establishing their individual independence and self-worth at the expense of others. [1]

[1] I watched an Oprah episode once while home sick, and this is what I took from it. That and a love of bon-bons. :P

I wasn't suggesting it was Diouf, just couldn't think of another player whose surname went with a "-us" suffix.

Ah I see! You were trying to come at it from the original Shakespear quotation. In that case you should not be looking for a "-us" suffix; you should be looking for a name ending in "e". The quote is "et tu Brute!" (pronounced Brutay)

I think that a big part of the resentment some fans feel is the N.I.C.K.O. cheerleaders who find their way on to the board during the transfer windows. (Though I don't think this January has been has bad as the Summer - probably because we aren't very active in the market).

Nicko does contribute and most of his posts stimulate debate but this would still be a good mb even if Nicko wasn't posting.

And remember, Nicko doesn't get it right EVERY time. Probably about 1 in 20...

No time to read the even the last few pages, Fife?

i`m not really being anti-nicko as my feelings towards him are unchanged. i know now however there must be occasions he`s scrapping around for a story, and on those occasions he may put to print something that`s unsubstantiated(as i think happened the other day) but a lot of the time on transfer rumours he`s spot on. i do find it funny that sam is referring to him as that `little man` though as last time i looked he weren`t that little at all.

How was the article unsubstantiated? There was enough fustration on this message board - there WAS a 'board meeting'. The fact that Sam has since said aftet the fulham game. "there was a lot of pressure on us all", yet before the game he had said he felt "no pressure". So what was the truth from Sam? Was there or was there not pressure before the game? If so where was the pressure coming from?

You do come out with some dribble on here sometimes, like saying I was Vinjay for example.

So now Dunn in his illustrious career had fallen out with Graeme Souness, Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce.

My opinion on the manager remains, but David Dunn perhaps should start coming under scrutiny at some point?

Rotten apple in the barrell perhaps? Good player we all know but he doesn't really figure enough to be of consequence and economically viable. Unless in the unlikely event that he stays fit he is becoming an expensive luxury. I dread to think how few times he will turn out if we renew his contract without including a performance gearing. Might be better to let someone else pay his pension contributions.

I'm slowly starting to think exactly that. If he's not fit every week and likes to be a bigger influence than he ought to be, it's probably better getting rid now.

Makes you wonder about the timing of his story about his contract rejection and where the story came from, who wants out more ? dunny or does Sam want him out after the bust up at city.

sam will have loved the bust up at city, especially if fists did fly a bit. he has gone on record before now as not seeing a problem with things getting heated in that way as a means of clearing the air, so possibly will have seen signs that he can influence a recovery from it. you need to have these shouting matches then everyone can get it out in the air who blames who. only after that tension is relieved can you move on.
