I am a bit of a fan of Beattie but he cannot command a place in a Stoke side which is hardly free scoring.

Who would you prefer Beattie or Davies, both simular type players. Though I think the latter works harder - but I think Beattie scores more. Maybe Sam has a better way of getting the best out of Beattie than stoke do. I would like to get Duff back if Rovers are willing to pay £3m on Beattie. Bennie's free kicks have been ok this season - who will take them after bennie?

There is a fair amount of interest in Benni right now.

Rovers want £3 million, so West Ham are 'having a laugh.'

I get the feeling this one will run and run a bit yet.

I suppose we must ask if there is a 11 o'clocker tonight. Sam's two games to save his job has seen one win and one loss - though a battling lost. Wonder where he stands now. Maybe if little man said the jury is still out - we might get better results for the next two games.

A lot of comments about Beattie being better than Benni - or not.

Does anyone think signing Beattie is the right signing for Rovers, no matter what happens to any of our other players? Because to be absolutely honest, I don't want to see Beattie near our club. He's 32, will result in even more long ball tactics and get's our club nowhere. Waste of time and completely the wrong signing for the fans who are fed up with this non-football we're playing.

Thank you den.

I hope Sam sits down and has a think after today and decides that the way forward is is the young vibrant players we have. Bring in Erguyen, play him alongside NZonzi, get Hoilett and Olsson down the flanks, and Kalinic with Benni as the old head pulling the strings.

I think that would be vastly productive. More so than shipping out McCarthy for Beattie certainly and will be an attractive way to play. We should stay up so we need to start planning for next season. These young guys are the way forward, and I think there is massive mileage in getting someone like McCarthy on board to be the brains up front.

I would say it is pretty plain to see he has saved his job. It would take another 3-4 bad results to put him back under pressure imo.

If Benni left, I could even see Pedersen in that role.

I've seen Eguren lots of times, mostly in Sweden playing for Hammarby. If Sam got him into our team, it would be our best buy since McCarthy. He's superior to all our central midfielders put together IMO.

That will do for me.....you seem to watch alot of European footy and know your players.

Eguren & the turk on loan - with A new striker to partner Kalinic

This topics meandering about but re: the Benny / Beattie debate. Could anybody who does not watch the match live and from the stands please realise that you are not in aposition to judge properly and just stfu!

You get very little idea of a players worth / performance / ability or influence from a TV screen never mind a 15" laptop.

Really? well after 36 years of standing/sitting in the stands and 2 years of only being able to watch it on tv I'd disagree with you totally. To paraphrase BFS "watching 22 pairs of socks doesn't give you a true sense of what's happening"

Off topic  But the transfer window so far is so boring we may as well look for a fight. Totally quiet on the Nicko front, Rovers front etc.

We have no money so can't do any deals.

Makes you sick when you hear teams like Wolves, Wigan and Stoke bidding for players and we've no cash?

it might if the players they are linked with are players we'd want or need, but in most cases they are not.

Well I suppose we made teams sick during Jacks time - it is just our time to be sick. Rovers fortunes will turn again one day - how, when, that is another thought. But there was once a time - just before jack Walkers investment - when staff at Rovers were asked to use the same tea bag twice so as to save money. Thankfully the club is not that bad - at the moment. Thee will be many on here who will remember the good old bad days and still be amazed at what Rovers have now. There are only 4 clubs who have won the prem, Rovers are one of those.

They should still be doing that! Save as much as possible. 'Save the pennies; the pounds will come' and all that! ;)

I know the board and the walker trust come in for a lot of stick , but when i read the horror stories at portsmouth and west ham and leeds etc , i'm glad we don't spend massive amounts of money on players

After Olsson and Kalinic starring last night I can see the board giving the nod to bring more youth in, they must be encouraged by what they saw in those two and you can imagine the £ sings flashing in the trusts eyes.

Linganzi in next I suspect / hope
