nicko Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Benni wants out quickly - and is keen to join West Ham. Galatasaray are interested too, but he wants to stay in the Prem. Maybe he has heard there is a Panacea in London. If it happens - and it is moving that way - then Beattie is the strong option. But that will depend on the price. Rovers need to make sure McCarthy goes for about the same fee that Beattie would cost. For the obvious reasons. Hear Eguren still being pursued. Interesting that so many people who have seen him rate him highly. Evening.

rovers1995 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Nicko why does he want out quickly and is it true that Dunny is going to be out for 9 weeks as someone has said on another topic?

G Somerset Rover Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 If McCarthy is sacrificed for Beattie I will be effing fuming. Does Big Sam's shortlist only contain one striker at a time or something?..Davies..Beattie.. Please don't let this happen. Beattie for Roberts = sorted.
Backroom Tom Posted January 21, 2010 Backroom Posted January 21, 2010 I'd love Benni to stay but in a way I think the emergence of Kalinic in the last couple of games has probably moved him closer to an exit, especially as it seems he would benefit from playing with a big old fashioned centre forward. I don't rate Beattie too high at all but maybe just maybe the two could work together
John Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Rovers need to make sure McCarthy goes for about the same fee that Beattie would cost. For the obvious reasons. No extra funding, even if minimal, for the manager then? Personally, I would keep Benni until the end of the season, to be safe. At the moment, just cannot see why selling him can make us stronger.
BPF Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Isn't there an obvious bad idea in selling him to a team that are potential relegation rivals? This all makes little sense to me!

Is big Sam taking this route so that he can get his pay out a lot quicker.

This is getting ridiculous now, because the striker i want out is Roberts. Benni wants out quickly - and is keen to join West Ham. Galatasaray are interested too, but he wants to stay in the Prem. nicko Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Benni wants out quickly because he knows West Ham are chasing other alternatives...and he does not want to miss out. The guy's heart has not been in it for some time and the manager does not fancy him. If you get decent dough then it will be a result. Not a Beattie fan myself, but I can see the current attraction. That move would be down to the expense involved. No word on Dunny injury or Basturk who was a good player about seven or eight years ago. Burnley are about to sign a keeper, by the way. Will no doubt lead to more accusations of undermining the Claret and Blue empire.

RovertheHill Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I'd rather have a fat lump who was capable of flashes of brilliance rather than a fat lump who's biggest fan is himself and is well on his way down the hill
nicko Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Any news on Linganzi Nicko, and is the Meriem move now officially over? Linganzi is still down to valuations which seems strange to me. He was 'one for the future' apparently. Hope he does not slip through any fingers. Meriem seems to have been a victim of the navel-gazing that went on last week. One one minute, delayed the next, cancelled the next. Poor chap, but really was it ever worth the fuss anyway?
sam_rovers Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 if we get beattie i can see the expert dropping kalinic and playing beattie as a lone striker!

Poor chap, but really was it ever worth the fuss anyway? Funnily enough Nicko, i was watching a classic match between PSG and Monaco. Meriem was playing, and i know it was a few years ago but, he was superb as the creative midfielder. I reckon, he could have done a job for us, but anyway thats that then.
Guest andrewpickup Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Have galatasaray not just taken jo? Perhaps not that fussed about benni. Im no beattie fan but I suppose he will give -t his all which for his talent benni lacks

If we dont sign a midfielder with either A : Some creativity or B : A real workhorse attitude im about ready to volley the dog over the neighbours house, never mind Sam's comments about Reid I read recently, he isnt fit enough and wont be for some time, sign a midfielder or whatever strikers you put on the pitch they wont score bugger all without having the chances created by midfielders. If we cant shift the useless dross we have in the centre of the park either in the window or off the injury bench take them out to the barn with a shotgun and do us all a favour.
sam_rovers Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Gala got Jo today..doubt they will still go for benni
Iceman Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Was the amount mentioned, not something like 50k for Linganzi? If we stalling over paying that, then things are really depressing.
