Chin up Keith, you're living the dream and proving that with hard work and determination you can achieve anything :rover:

Providing that you are in the right place at the right time and friends with an incredibly deluded man passing himself off as a Premiership Football Manager, of course.

What is the discussion about now?

Whether he's good enough, or whether he should be abused?

Both answers are pretty simple and universal yet this is the 758th post on this topic now.

Lets just hope he is sold this summer - therefore giving the chance for the thread to end!! :tu:

Personally I feel it's very sad that people feel the need to abuse Keith so much. As Brian says, he doesn't pick himself to play. He doesn't deserve the abuse he gets from his own fans, he does his best and that's all you can ask of him.

Of course, the link with Paul Ince doesn't help, but again, that isn't Keith's fault.

He's a really nice guy, I know all the arguments, they've been going on for long enough for heaven's sake, but he's a human being and it's not pleasant the way some folk carry on and on and on and on etc etc.

Why would anyone want him on the bench? He's either good enough, or he isn't.

and he isn't.

and you know it.

Oh, yes everything is so black and white isn't it Den? He is not the greatest player but he is very useful and as such deserves his place on the bench. That's why he gets played so often or had you not noticed that?

Fact is Nelsen was as shocking against Everton as Keith was and a much to blame for the result with his idiotic challenge in the opening minutes and his poor free header in front of their goal.

I understand what you're saying, that must have been Nelsen's worst ever game in a Rovers shirt. Nelsen has had his moments but he's also had some outstanding performances. He must have been Man of the Match at least three times. People cannot possibly remember the good things Andrews has done which is why he gets this treatment. He's 'well' below par I don't think he's ever been awarded Man of the Match. He might try his best but his best is not good enough. Keith Andrews has had so many bad games I have erased them from my memory so I can't possibly name them but he's 'well' out of his depth. The good things I can think of, are his headed clearances from corners, he's done that quite well this season and a couple of decent passes but we expect that in one game not over the course of the season ;)

Very useful?

At what? - Seriously, at what?

Saturday's match was the first time I thought Andrews had doubts about his ability to be a premier League player.

After all, he played far more regularly last season than he could have ever expected and as a result was given an improved contract.

This season, either because of injuries or because the manager rated him, he has played a lot of games.

On Saturday, he wasn't pointing at his colleagues telling them what to do as much as he normally does and his body language just made me

speculate that his internal doubts had started.

At being able to play, averagely, in a number of different positions. I remind you that when Nelsen got injured, Andrews dropped into defence and played pretty well there, he's played in midfield, right back, central defence and is virtually always available. No he's NOT the best but he is able to play in multiple positions.

What would you say his strongest position is? Central midfield I guess?

Central bench.

Andrews is useless, but having said that I'd still never boo our own players..not even Diouf..

Agreed. I've never booed a player in the shirt and can't imagine I ever will.

Central bench.

Central bench at the Turf.

Seriously this was always going to happen. He is nowhere near being premiership standard and he's not helping N'Zonzi's development one bit. I know it, the crowd knows it and I'm damned sure his team mates know it.

I've cursed and despaired regularly but I've never booed him cos his problem is lack of ability not work rate or enthusiasm but it was only a matter of time before ever more people in the crowd would turn on him. It's the nature of the beast and he has gone past the point of no return I believe.

It's not his fault any longer, it's the manager's. To pick him and keep better players on the bench beggars belief. SA must have a reason but I'm damned if I can understand it.

It's for the reasons above that I think he's worth keeping but only as a backup player. The problem though is that due to injury problems for half of our midfielders he ends up playing far too often.

I'd be more than happy to see him go if we can bring in a replacement but it's very tricky. When everyone has been fit Andrews has found himself on the bench the majority of the time so I think that tells you that Sam sees him as a backup squad player. I'd imagine he's one of our lowest wage earners and would only fetch on current form 1-2m. It's difficult to bring in a player that is almost always fit and can play in a variety of positions for that kind of money.

We have to be looking to strengthen the starting lineup in my opinion before we start looking to replace the backup players.

I really wish he was better and if it was easy to click your fingers and sell him on and immediately replace him with another cheap backup player then I'd be all for it but I think first and foremost we need to bring someone in to replace him before we get rid.

I'd much rather ship out the injury prone Grella and try and recoup as close to the circa 4m we paid for him and then use the money to buy a better midfielder who can take us forward, but again who's going to pay that for a 30 year old crock?

With Reid likely not to be here next year and Pedersen's contract being up in the air we are already going to be short on midfield options, trying to find 3 or 4 will be very difficult. If we don't replace them then we are relying again on N'Zonzi having another steady year and playing every game and the likes of Dunn and Emerton actually being fit. We have Linganzi and possibly Basturk knocking around but having not seen them play I don't think any of us can really say if they are better options.

I'm hoping Judge can step up to be honest and perhaps be the squad player that we need instead of Andrews but the premiership is a big stepup from the championship so who know's if he's ready or not. He reminds me of Thompson.

Sam's made it pretty clear his priority is a striker so I think we should brace ourselves for another season with Andrews unless someone is crazy enough to make a silly offer for him or we can bring in 3 or 4 midfielders first.

I can't believe I'm arguing to keep him but I just think we need to replace him first with so many of our midfielders either leaving, injury prone or completely unproven. I hope the scouts have been very busy!

Firstly, I would never boo a Rovers player, I have to admit, I get deflated if I see his name on the team sheet and even on the bench, I would let him go like a shot.

Someone mentioned on here that he is useful, NO he is not useful, not to Rovers nor to any club at this level.

I would expect a player who plays at Premiership level to have one of the following attributes, Passing, tackling, ability to hold his position, skill on the ball or pace.

Can anyone honestly tell me if he possess any of those ???

So Keith allegedly snapped and threw a bottle. Whilst I do not condone such behaviour, I can understand it. I'd only tolerate so much abuse before I got angry, and do something bad. I hope all the whinging turds who boo him are happy now. He may be a crap football player, but constant abuse is only going to make him worse.

Den...you don't need to repeat things to make your point.Boring.

Incidentally, and at the risk of being accused of being an Andrews apologist,I think you'll find that there's a minor argument that he helped to keep us up last season with the points gleaned from a couple of his goals but don't let the facts get in the way of your bullying rhetoric.
