I will openly admit that I have openly criticised Andrews for his lack of performances in a blue and white shirt. I most definatley agree that he is in the cant head, cant pass and cant play football brigade.

There are members of this forum who dont like the negatvie views of mine and den's but I want to point this out to you all, those who go on and on about his Irish position and club position and WHO NEVER EVER answer the question posed by his detractors.

PLEASE CAN ANY POSITIVE SUPPORTER OF ANDREWS EXPLAIN IN ANY GREAT DETAIL(S) EXACTLY WHAT HE BRINGS TO THE ROVERS SIDE WHEN HE PLAYS (THIS IS OF COURSE AN EXCEPTION TO BRINGING CHAOS AND CALAMITY TO ROVERS MIDFIELD).

The stock answer to that question, and you ALL have to agree is that he brings NOTHING but the waste of a shirt and alternative player to the team.

I would gladly enter any debate with anyone about this fact, and beleive that there is NO alternative argument about this.

The guy couldnt cut it at the likes of Hull and Wolves, he did ok at a 2nd Division club so why at 29 does he or anyone think he can perform admirably in the Premier League ?

Answers on a post card please.

I personally think Andrews is a poor midfielder who doesn't have what it takes at PL level, but I think he could do a job as defensive cover for the full backs / centre halves. He played there recently (I forget who it was against) and looked solid. He lacks creativity, but he's a decent ball-winner.

It was Birmingham City.

I know nicko doesn't like it when you constructively critisise one of his stories but I have a few issues with it. Firstly, the headline

Blackburn star's future.....

I think this thread proves he isn't a 'star'.

But also I think this is a little OTT

'...who has had to fight a hate campaign since he signed from MK Dons'

(although conversly this thread doesn't support my argument on that one :))

Ask Allardyce; he's the one still picking him.

I like to stick up for Keith Andrews purely because I think a lot of comments towards him aren't always fair.

It annoys me when he plays okay yet still gets made the scapegoat. Fair enough if he plays badly then people should criticise him. Same for any player who doesn't contribute but if he has played well then people shouldn't still slate his performance. I've seen so many games where he hasn't been the worse player yet he's the first person people will mouth off. Even when he made those match winning blocks/clearances a few games back he wasn't given that much credit without someone adding in a sly dig towards him too.

For the record, I personally don't think Andrews is good enough to have a permanent position in the first team but everytime he plays I really want him to do well and I'll always support whoever is in the starting XI. I still think we need a player who can dominate the midfield more and someone who has more creativity. Would I be sad if he left? I wouldn't if we could get a better replacement but I wouldn't be disappointed if he stayed because he's not a bad squad player.

I must admit though, when I found out he squirted liquid over someone who was abusing him, I had the biggest smile on my face. They deserved it and some of you on here probably do too!

There is simply no way of defending him and his lack of a performance that counts !

Its alright running and pointing but there is NO end product, no creativity, he cannot tackle and he certainly doesnt do anything to worry the opposition, defensively or offensively.

I challenge anyone to, like den has and like others have to tell us ANYTHING RELATIVELY POSITIVE about his performances and attributes in taking BRFC forwards.

I agree that he isn't good enough to take us forward, (along with half the squad), but there is a hell of a lot more dead wood in the squad who need showing the door long before Keith heads through it. Players like Rigters, Grella have offered us nothing in the time they've been here and even others such as MGP and Emerton have been as poor, if not more so, than Keith over the last year or so.

People love to use the fact the above poll points to the fact that two thirds of those questioned want rid to back up their wish to see the back of Andrews.

Thing is he isn't the worse or most useless player in our team and off the top of my head his scoring record is 5 goals in 60 odd games.

Keith Andrews has contributed more goals than some of our supposed attack minded players over the past 18 months.

I will leave it on this one last point, I'd love us to ship Keith out and replace him with the likes of Xavi or Lampard, but thing is that ain't going to happen in the near future (if at all). A point underlined by our apparent inability to find £5m for a "promising" young Polish forward.

WORST NOT WORSE.

If he's not the worst player in the team, I'd like to know your basis for comparison?

I get the feeling that you're taking injury records into consideration. But if you compared players on sheer ability alone, would you still maintain he's not the worst player to play first-team football for us this season?

Nice of you to read the one error I made in my post and totally disregard the rest of it. Ability is fine if you are actually capable of playing more than 5 minutes without needing urgent medical attention.

I have admitted time and time again that Keith is no world beater, but having all the skill in the world is totally pointless than if you can't actually manage to take to the field of player.

Keith is a far more valuable member of our squad than both Grella and Basturk because he can at least make himself available for selection week in week out.

Having players like Andrews' in our squad may not push us further up the table, but it will (and has) kept us in the league. I don't believe that a physio room full of Grella's and Basturk's would.

Well no, I didn't ignore the rest of your post, because otherwise I would've just pointed out your spelling error.

The reason I didn't address what you said point-by-point was because your whole post was based on what I see as a fallacy that Keith Andrews isn't the worst player in the team.

Based solely on ability, I'm sad to say that I think he is. You can't say he's a better player than Grella because he's not injured as much, that's daft.

Using stats from Wiki:

Keith Andrews: Signed 2008 - 62 league games - 5 goals - Signed for a fee up to £1m

Vince Grella: Signed 2008 - 31 league games - 0 goals - Signed for approx £4m

Andrews played twice amount of games, 5 goals more and cost £3m less.

Now wheres that 42 page 'Vince Grella - Time He Went' thread

Could you add into that the games won %....and also the games won when only 1 of them has played
