[Archived] Who Do You Support? Rovers?

Recommended Posts

Despite the fact we're playing like dog's twos at the mo, I'm pretty dismayed to see that a fair number of Rovers fans 'boycotting' the game on Thursday (including some of my mates).

It seems that a lot of people see it as a two fingered salute to Alardyce. Imagine what it feels like to be supporting a club at the bottom of the 2nd division...that'd be a reason to be disillusioned and not go, yet supporters still do it. I'm sure that many of the stay away supporters are real fans but i'm also sure there are a number who have only known thing since 1992.

Who do the stay away fans support? Rovers, or whoever happens to be the manager at any given time?

We've been so spoilt over the last 20 years that getting to the Semis of the Carling cup is just 'somat and nowt'

Why can't us being in this semi final be seen as an occasion for 'us',the people of Blackburn, irrespective of who is managing or playing for us. It's chance for us to have a crack at the third most prestigious trophy in England. There is also a very good chance that in years to come that this kind of chance is just a pipe dream.

So if you're in the camp of being unsure whether or not to go. Get down there, not to support Alardyce or even the players but to support Blackburn Rovers - the club you support.

While I can't go tomorrow, I'm a season ticket holder and will always be one from now til the day I die.

Here, here, fella.

I'll be there tomorrow. No-one gave us a chance against Chelsea, and I know several people who kicked themselves that they weren't there.

It's not as if we were on a great run of form before that tie.

We can beat Villa - definitely at home - and if nothing else, after Monday, I expect a reaction from the players.

Here's hoping to see Sam out on the touchline from the start of the game and not with 10 minutes to go, and that we continue our cup form.

It's a Semi Final of a major trophy and it's £15. The weather is better than last week and even Abbey is going so there really is NO EXCUSE!

Come On You Blues. :brfcsmilie:

Good post! I hope if miracles happen and we do get through the club just asks for 15k tickets for wembley , stuff everyone else!

Fair enough but why not ask why we only had x amount against Peterborough? Same cup competition yet people only care when there's a chance of glory.

Tomphil says stuff everyone else who doesn't go tomorrow, why not stuff everyone who didn't go to the Posh game.

I think its not so much a protest against Allardyce as just a reaction to the apathy around Rovers at the moment. Ive spent good money following Rovers home and away this season and ive seen us lose 3 times away from home and two 0-0 draws. I havent seen us score once in the 5 games i have gone. NOT ONCE.

Now, Iam not saying that there isnt a reason for me to go, however Im not going to waste more money to watch us get thrashed again. I dont care about Allardyce, I dont care about anything other then the club - However, I, like many people cannot afford to waste decent money on watching miserable, gutless defeats.

Im tired of making the effort to travel aroud the country for days on end just to feel like it was a complete waste of time. I just hope that there are people out there who have more patience then myself.

Please justify a 200 mile round trip, cutting from work earlier (lost time or money) and not seeing my son.

Nah didn'y think you could.

Maybe if we played Football and wern't on for getting spanked i would consider it.

Maybe you could take your son? The tickets are cheap.

I'd love to get my children to a game, but my wife barely gave me the greenlight for March and I have no doubt it will be a few years before she'll let her (and my) angels onto a trans-atlantic flight.

dude, those people whom are boycotting the semi-final, will soon be back watching rovers, should we make it to wembley. in the event of this, then i would suggest that the two fingered salute should be sent back in their directions. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!

What's the point of having a do at someone who is trying to drum up a bit of support? You don't have to go, it wasn't aimed specifically at you. Rather the people who aren't going solely because of the manager or the quality of the football.

The football is crap but that isn't the point. It's a semi final, there is a trophy and a place in europe at stake. This is a big game for our CLUB.

You have to look at the Villa game in context.

It will be utterly pulsating high drama stuff.

Even if we get thrashed, when do the chants start?

Lol. Classic Philip, agree whatever happens its going to be more fun to watch the happenings in the stands. Anybody, want to make an Iceman for manager banner?

My girlfriend gave birth to our son last week, 8 weeks early! He is still in hospital, so visiting him everyday takes priority. I can completely understand fans not wanting to go though. For me it's not that we have crap players, yes they aren't world class, but they should be doing(at least playing) much much better. The second I saw the team news on Monday I knew EXACTLY how it'd pan out. Lump it to an isolated Di Santo and play with ten men because of Andrews. £15 or not, a repeat of that team and tactics is too depressing to bare. My club is being raped by BFS, if he tried to play football we'd have a 200% better chance. The players aren't fantastic, but not relegation bad. The managers tatics however are and he is such a subborn and arrogant swine, that I doubt it'll change. If at 7pm I see a similar team line up as Monday, I'll just go to bed early. I'm up at 4:30 and the last few weeks have been exhausting for me and I'm not prepared to even watch that garbage on my tv.

Having said that, if my circumstances were different, come 7pm, I'd want to be there, it is a semi final and it's difficult not to be excited, no matter how bad things are. Maybe I've contridicted myself, but at the moment I'm fed up. The current situation feels worse than Ince. I hated his time here, but I felt he was trying different things and ideas, unfortunatley he'd lost the players and he wasn't experienced enough to pull it together(as well as being thick as pig ######). Part of me thinks(hopes) that Monday nights 'lock in' might have changed things. Maybe the penny has dropped with Sam, the players have aired their opinions, as have the fans. Hopefully Sam is a big enough of a man to admit his tactics are completely wrong and it's time to change. If this happens then I'll be over the moon and Sam will have my full support.

However, if he's told the players to shut up and he'll do it his way and still thinks his tactics will eventually work then that's the final straw for me. We'll be doomed and there is no chance. I'll put Rovers down my list of priorities because I'm fed up of caring so much and being kicked in the balls by that arrogant expert.

So let's hope Monday was a turning point and things change. If Sam has got it in him to change, then I don't see why he can't take us forward and be here for many years to come. It would be a leopard changing his spots however.....

To the poster before i would take my son, but a 8 month old don't appreciate being up past 8 and a 2 hour car trip.

Not that im having a pop but i doubt this thread will influence anyone to goto the game who have made the desison to stay away and watching somthing more exciting, like the snooker.

Its a massive game but with the managers attitude and tactics i don't blame people for not going, espicially if we start with 1 up front.

Knowing as we do that Sam is the 'expert', I think that is the likeliest scenario of Monday nights lock in.

Well, if that is the case we have no chance of the final and I'm pretty sure we'll struggle to get the points required to stay up. Teams will start loving playing us. If I can predict exactly what will happen after seeing the team line up then other managers will have us sussed. Long ball football can work, but when they are aimless hoofed up field in the gauge direction of an isolated single lightweight forward the defenders will have an easy night. Let's just pray Sam has seen the error if his ways, otherwise the fat lady will be getting warmed up.

Too far and too costly for me to travel for a mid week game due to work etc. Will watch on tv though. If I lived in Blackburn and was able to go then I would.

It won't happen, win, lose, draw, - anyway there is no best time. To do it during the game would be detrimentle to the team - same as half time. A full time sit in and chant I suppose is the best way - but who will take any notice then?

Once we start hoofing it boo. If they try and play football show your joy and cheer! Olay every good pass(there were about 10 good passes Monday, so not much effort required). If Sam picks a football team, that goes out to win and entertain, cheer and sing like never before. Let him know what we like and what we definitely don't like. This all depends on Sam admitting his long ball crap with one striker doesn't work, will he be too stubborn and arrogant to do this though?!
