I wonder if Sam will keep him on out of contact in summer to see if he can earn one.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in Qatar or similar

I think it has more to do with the fact that he's been unfit for purpose. You'd have a point if he kept making the bench, but he's clearly been crocked for the majority of his time here. Hopefully we won't make the mistake of signing him up and wasting some of our wage budget on a player the wrong side of 30 who can't stay fit...we already have enough of those.

Don't think it'll be paid by us though, will it not be his parent club who picks up the tab, and then we pay the parent club every time he plays? He isn't our player, he's on loan.

That would depend on the arrangement that we've made with the club. We may be paying all of his salary, we may only be paying him when he plays and they pick up some basic salary, but somehow I doubt that.

I don't think he's on loan. I'm sure he cancelled his contract with Stuttgart to come here on a short-term deal.

Anyway, I think he was worth the gamble (if you can call it that). Basturk's a talented player on his day and Sam has a knack for this kind of signing. It doesn't look like it's paid off this time, but I can't imagine it's set us back.

It looks like it was more of an extended trial period more than anything else. Who knows maybe Sam will give him a couple of games towards the end of the year and see if he thinks he's worth a look next year.

I'm sure he does have some kind of basic wage but if it's a play as you play deal then it's going to be fairly minimal. Not all signings come off, always work a look though with the pedigree and experience he has.

Also, we have been on pretty decent form since he joined so not really needed him - and he got injured which ruled him out for a couple of weeks too.

Not sure why some are getting themselves into a rage on this one....
