jodrell Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 On BBC news it said HMRC will not appeal because they could take on the PL for the football creditors rule.

Stuart Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 Let's hope they bounce back up to the PL and everyone can forget this sorry episode ever happened..... Eh? A slap in the face to clubs like Rovers who work within incredibly tight budgets to just to get by - let alone try to compete.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Eh? A slap in the face to clubs like Rovers who work within incredibly tight budgets to just to get by - let alone try to compete. I think he might have been sarcastic...
Stuart Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 I think he might have been sarcastic... I did think he was. Perhaps there should have been a gap between my sentences... it wasn't all aimed at him!
Ricky Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Where's philipl gone now, It's always doom and gloom.... United going bust..... Liverpool going to the wall...... Pompey being liquidated..... Etc.
philipl Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Remarkable lack of comment in the papers today- I guess a load of valedictory stories got spiked. Ricky go and read what I actually posted on the previous page.
philipl Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Here is an explanation of what happened yesterday and what comes next.
SouthAussieRover Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I think the Pompey QC was highly irresponsible in his pleading. Would you kindly expand on this comment please?
philipl Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Saying they would go straight into liquidation as a form of blackmail. If the Judge had found differently, he would have in effect found that the existing Administrator had not performed his duty correctly and would probably have resigned and a different Administrator more acceptable to HMRC as the blocking minority appointed. HMRC were undoubtedly looking to set precedents in this case rather than yield direct cash and that combined with their claim for unpaid monies arising from image rights being made so desperately late (but within time which the Judge seems to have ignored) was their undoing. HMRC are undoubtedly on the warpath so far as football clubs are concerned and I wouldn't like to be the next top or former top tier club to fall into difficultes. Hull City must be giving the Premier League and Football League a lot of sleepless nights and making them look at the tightened rules now brought in and wondering whether they are tight enough.

philipl Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I see the Premier League are going to withhold £1m from Pompey's next Parachute payment to settle a claim from Spurs. Meantime Mandaric is talking of returning and a second relegation beckons.
