stuwilky Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 It seems there is no official Prem penalty for going into admin http://soccerlens.com/surely-its-a-wind-up/39950/ Not sure if that article is correct but it does confirm that in league terms there is cut off the penalty application of 6 weeks before the end of the season. Rule 60.1 suggests that there is a specific rule. It just has never been used.

G Somerset Rover Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Pompey taken over for a 4th time this season: Pompey A little more info: More
philipl Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 From the second article- Despite his involvement with Al Faraj, it is understood that Chainrai has little interest in owning or running a football club. It is believed his main interest was financial – investing in the club so that the money could be paid back at a rate of interest. From a commercial standpoint, lending el-Farajh £17m makes no sense whatsoever on the facts that are currently in the public domain....
Radagast Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Doubt it Radagast- the numbers are too big. Pompey are going under for about 50 Gretnas. Pompey will call in the Administrators which gives them creditor protection and the Administrators will see them through the remainder of the season. That's certainly true, but then the Premier League is financially more like 5000 SPLs, give or take. I don't mean clearing debts or anything, just assisting with the (admittedly massive) operating costs for the next few months. Just thinking out loud though, you're probably right. Just to make this new owner thing even more baffling, it seems like el-Farajh wanted to prevent this takeover. You'd think someone would know when enough was enough and accept a get-out when it comes along. It's obvious he will never make any money back from them now.
modes98 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Looks like their stupidity will save them from administration but at least they are still for the drop.
Shabani Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Looks like things could get a lot worse for Pompey because they are now effectively owned by a Creditor The guy who has taken over the club wants his £17m back and has no interest in the long term apparently. ...and Avram Grant is named as the Prem boss who visited the brothel
thenodrog Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 ...and Avram Grant is named as the Prem boss who visited the brothel Well so what? Hardly matters does it? There will be a lot of people beside Avram Grant visiting brothels...... or there simply wouldn't be any would there?
Neil Weaver Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Looks like things could get a lot worse for Pompey because they are now effectively owned by a Creditor The guy who has taken over the club wants his £17m back and has no interest in the long term apparently. Aye, and what I heard (which is probably just layman-speak for your comments!) is that unless he 'took over' he stood no chance of getting his 17m back! If there was ever an unwilling 'investor'.........
T4E Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 So a player can't play for 3 clubs in one season, yet a club in the supposed biggest League in the World can have 4 different (foreign) owners in the space of 5 months. Football is a f**king joke.
modes98 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Well I would think it will 5 owners by the end of the season. Shame they limit player movement but not club ownership.
Amo Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Like I said, the FA should take some responsibility for their "Fit and Proper Persons" test that has allowed Portsmouth a series of penniless owners.
Earlydoors Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 ...and Avram Grant is named as the Prem boss who visited the brothel The guys got to make his money where he can!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Just what the hell is the facination with Pompey and so-called 'rich men'?....its a ruddy Circus down there and gets more ludicrous every week! Pray to god our famous old club never falls into the hands of shysters of their ilk.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Well so what? It's illegal. Hardly matters does it? Possibly does to Grant's wife and kids.
thenodrog Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 It's illegal. Possibly does to Grant's wife and kids. Get over it.
PAFELL Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 It's illegal. Maybe in the uk, but not in germany etc. Over there they have legal brothels. Possibly does to Grant's wife and kids. To his wife and kids. of course it matters.
philipl Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 James cuts parts out ofhis own contract so he can keep playing Pompey couldn't afford to pick him soon so he has dropped the relevant part of his contract! Bad news for Robbo I suppose.
thenodrog Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 To his wife and kids. of course it matters. Looking at a piccy of the lovely Mrs Grant I'd imagine when old Avram started making approaches she might well have given him a few quid out of he housekeeping budget to go and get himself sorted. Stranger things happen behind closed doors.

Stranger things happen behind closed doors. Apparently Mrs G is cool with it......and once drank her own wee live on Israeli telly.
Paul Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 The sooner Portsmouth go the bust the better, and should Liverpool and Utd follow suit so be it. These people are a joke and shouldn't be allowed near football clubs ever again.
philipl Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 There is now going to be a legal fight over the ownership of this pile of whatsit.
Stuart Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 Not looking good for Portsmouth... ...and the last one out might not have to turn out the lights! Plus THREE own goals yesterday. Incredible.
American Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Read an interesting thing about administration - technically, the new owners out of administration don't have to honor season tickets and can make people buy new ones. Obviously no one would be daft enough to ###### off the customers by doing this, but interesting nonetheless.
