AllRoverAsia Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 (edited) Crap game. Watched the first half and went to bed. Mind you it was 3am. Man U play hoofball to a lone runner. Boring boring crap. I wish I had stayed with the Cricket. Saw all of England's innings before the footy. Man U and the media are ejaculating over winning 2 Cups they would have laughed at under Ferguson. Ajax had no answer to Man Utd playing ultra defensive and got hit with two sucker punches. Say what you want about Jose, but he wins trophies. Agreed. It was typical Mourinho. Stifle the opposition, play it tight, nick a goal. Man U were streets better than Ajax. 16 hours ago, DE. said: Both teams looked laboured to me - the effort was there from both but United were just set up perfectly to nullify anything Ajax attempted. A tactical masterclass from Jose. It might not be pretty, but he knows how to win in finals. Ajax looked like a young team who had no idea what to do when Plan A failed. The entire match they never deviated from tippy-tapping the ball around the eighteen yard box. More experienced players would have seen much earlier that it wasn't going to work and tried different things. Alexi Lalas was the 'expert' commentating on US TV. The other commentator mentioned the words "tactical masterclass". Lalas pointed out that it's only a masterclass if the opposition warrant it. Ajax were no Real Madrid. Quote

They aren't, but a lot of good teams have tried and failed to stop them. United's tactics made them look like children playing a man's game. 1 Quote
Tony Rover Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 @#/? poor final. People will moan but Jose has achieved what he set out when he knew he wasn't in the mix. Expect them to be winning something again next year. Would bet my house on Tottenham to win the premier next season if they wasn't based at Wemberlee! Quote
Claytons Left Boot Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Hampden, 57 minutes gone, Celtic 1 Aberdeen 1. Celtic couldn't play any worse if they tried. If they up their game, they'll win it. Quote
Claytons Left Boot Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 They did and they did. Congratulations Celtic, a magnificent treble. Quote
Salgado Is Still A Hero Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Two good games today in the cup finals Quote
Tony Rover Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Arsenal bossed it. Almost let It slip but were definitely worth it. I remember when we use to play against them in the premier, they were the one team I feared. If I was Arsene then I would head out in the sun set. Quote
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 27, 2017 Moderation Lead Posted May 27, 2017 I kept expecting Chelsea to improve and come back and sneak it. Fair play to Arsenal for seeing it through right after Chelsea equalised. Quote
ultrablue Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 England have topped their group at the u20s world cup here in Korea. They beat the hosts 1-0 on Friday night. My (korean) wife has to wash up for the week as a forfeit. 3 Quote

ultrablue Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Under 20s are through to the world cup semis. They beat Mexico 1-0 despite losing a man for the last 30 mins. Italy up next, then Uruguay or Venezuela in the final on Sunday. Im booking my tickets tomorrow. The 3rd 4th place playoff is played right before the final. Both games for about 18 quid. Hopefully we'll be in the latter! 1 Quote

ultrablue Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Early setback for England u20s in the semi as Italy took the lead after 2 minutes. But from then on we dominated. Particularly in the second half England were excellent. Italy dropped deeper and deeper. Young Liverpool lad Ojo came on and immediately made us even better. 3-1 in the end and could have been more! Never thought Id be able to say this, but I just bought tickets to watch England in a World Cup Final!!!! 3 Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Excellent result by England. Pleased Venezuela got through. Conceeded a dodgy pen but scored a cracker free kick at 90+ a bit. Good final coming up. Quote
