That doesn't answer my question. Majority fan ownership starting now would begin from a position of the club having annual operating losses running in to several millions - as is the case for almost all Championship clubs without parachute payments - plus facing the regular demands to "show some ambition" by embarking on a transfer spree with no guarantee that it would lead to promotion. Where does the money come from ? Quote
Mattyblue Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Of course a fan owned club can’t work at this level. It has to be the ‘benefactor’ model, obviously we don’t have that here either as the Rao’s can’t/won’t fund the club they inexplicably still own. 1 Quote

Where does the money come from ? Selling all our best players, typically. Oh wait, no it doesn't, they don't re-invest that..... Quote

Ianrally Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Barca battering Real. It should be 0-4 but Lewandowski scored 2 but missed 2 sitters. 1 Quote
Upside Down Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Lashers equaliser right at the death. OG from a cross drilled across the goal mouth. Amazing what happens when actual wingers put proper crosses in from the channels. Good game by the ref as well. Quote

Upside Down Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Nobbers got a full house for the biggest game they've seen down there for 65 years. Plastics. Quote
Upside Down Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Athletic vs Betis One of the best games I've seen in a long time. How it finished 1-1 I don't know, Athletic should have been 5-0 up in the 1st half. Good to see two teams playing fast attacking football using proper wingers that take players on and get crosses into the box. Proper football. Quote
Upside Down Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Where's the petition that I sign to get rid of VAR? It's a pile of wank. Quote

Upside Down Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Villarreal just conceded an injury time equaliser thanks to a Pears-esque bit of goalkeeping. Quote
Upside Down Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Just fuck off with this VAR shit. Perfectly good goal disallowed for absolutely nothing. Quote
Vinjay Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) VAR check for what was a blatant penalty in the clash between Inter and Napoli. Calhanoglu smashed one in from outside the box in the first half and most people probably assumed he would convert the penalty but you can never guarantee things like that. Infact the longer you have an outstanding penalty record the sooner it is likely to end however good you are. Speaking of the stadium it's so iconic that it can't even be demolished. Napoli have also had several discussions over the future of the Maradona stadium. Of course Milan is no longer hosting the European Cup Final in 2027. It's a shame that ahead of the 2032 European Championships there will probably be more "mcstadiums". Some of the stadium designs in Europe have no creativity whatsoever. Do corporate demands have to mean you can't show the slightest creativity? By no means should stadiums be falling apart either. AS Roma and Lazio planning on new stadiums too. Speaking of Roma fired their manager yesterday after just 12 games. Edited November 11, 2024 by Vinjay Quote
riverholmes Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 (edited) Given what the handball rule looks like now, it seems that smashing free kicks and, perhaps, in other attacking situations, straight at defenders might be more fruitful than anything else. Northern Ireland won a penalty as a Belarus defender in the wall instinctively tried to protect himself - it seemed to me. On another point, looking at the highlights, it seems Scotland and Rep Ireland had some joy with traditional wing play, with Ben Doak and Mikey Johnstone running at the full back. Looks like it’s coming back into fashion after all. Edited November 16, 2024 by riverholmes Quote

Crellin on loan from Everton messed up for the first Swindon Town goal to leave Harry Smith such an easy header to score Quote
Upside Down Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 That France goal was entirely caused by the Italians fucking about in their own box instead of taking a proper goal kick. Quote
Upside Down Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 San Martin vs All Boys What a fucking game. 3 Red cards for the same team and an after match mele complete with riot police. Quote
Vinjay Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 (edited) Seen a few digs at Haaland (3 goals yesterday) for not playing in Euros as if it's his fault. It's pretty clear that he carries that team as much as he can and if they still can't qualify with him they must not be very good! Just some nasty pundits and certain elements of media with an agenda. If he played for San Marino they would probably blame him. Watched Italy V France last night but judging by the scoreline Tuchel must be very pleased with what he saw. Edited November 18, 2024 by Vinjay Quote
