philipl Posted July 27, 2008 Author Posted July 27, 2008 Being reported that Liverpool have failed to meet the deadline by which they had to show they have access to the £400m for the new stadium to go ahead.

daveoftherovers Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I have my tiny violin out for them Great, I have a tune ready on the smallest mp3 player in the world, it's called "My heart pumps purple pi** for you (Liverpool)"
leftfooter Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 "...Villa will receive a 17.5million fee plus right back Steve Finnan in exchange for a midfielder who will fulfil his wish to play in the Champions League this season after all...To find the money, Liverpool needed to provide the bank with a guarantee that funds to cover the move will be raised during the remainder of the close season..." From Sportsmail. Not often you hear of a club needing to provide a bank with a credit note.

The Prof. Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Any wonder that Randy Lerner (a very successful banking entrepreneur) simply told MoN to cancel the deal? Apparently Barry is staying now according to MON. This has legs yet!
thenodrog Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Rafa waits for funds and waits and waits Must be nice having DIC waiting in the wings. Jammy gits.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Yeah but in the mean time... These articles always put a smile on my face phil
American Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Must be nice having DIC waiting in the wings. That's what she said...
philipl Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 The Times picks up the fall-out at Liverpool
wilyrover Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Bet there's a lot of Liverpool fans growing beards now.
thenodrog Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 The Times picks up the fall-out at Liverpool Lpool's billy big time efforts to sign Barry, and Barry's own disparaging comments about MoN and Villa might just have tweaked a lions tail. Maybe the chance for revenge and to humiliate Benitez, Lpool, Hicks, Gillete, Gareth Barry and all was the reason for Lerner instructing MoN to 'give way' on the Barry issue last week just after Lpool had signed Keane. No doubt Lerner knew that Lpool could not finance BOTH Barry and Keane and just wanted to embarrass the club and create a stand off with Benitez and his bosses.
American Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Was reading something that shows they've spent more over the past 3 years than United. Heck, Mascareno and Torres were about 40-50 million combined (I think Masch was 19 and Torres 24, but not positive).
philipl Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Martin Samuels savages Liverpool's Hicks and Gillett and new owners of EPL clubs in general. Potless millionaires.
Rover4ever Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Dont really get that clown Benitez, he gets a striker who is excellent around the box, and plans to use him like he (mis)used Kuyt, and spoil him similarly. Keane is not a right winger !!
Roar of the Rover Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...080813-1129.htm
BiggusLaddus Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...080813-1129.htm What about it?
Billy Castell Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Liverpoo fans like my brother-in-law have had one thing to smile about recently-at least they didn't get bought by Thakisin Sinawatra.
neekoy Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Liverpool splits To me the sequence of events is the same as when Benitez left Valencia Whinging about money, whinging about transfers, the sooner he is gone the better for the PL
philipl Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 To me the sequence of events is the same as when Benitez left Valencia Whinging about money, whinging about transfers, the sooner he is gone the better for the PL It shows how weak the ownership is that they haven't simply fired him already.
Billy Castell Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Rafa is talking himself out of a job, although I can't think of who'd replace him (Hughes?). Could Valencia's financial problems be down to Rafa's reign there?
philipl Posted August 29, 2008 Author Posted August 29, 2008 Well Liverpool got unbelievably lucky against Standard Liege but its not saved their new stadium. New pressure to sell to Makhtoum and DIC.
