Can we not just all agree that Ferguson is a whinging sore loser and be happy about it?

Amen

Not exactly the Champions League but good luck to Fulham to-morrow against Wolfsburg. It's good to see a fellow " Minnow" doing so well. Anyway they're as much Champions as Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal.

Hope they do well too, I wonder what odds you would have got at the start of the season on Fulham being the last British side in European competition this season?

Not fussed about the result tonight either way really, happy to see Man Utd go out especially after a 3-0 lead but it is a shame there will be no English teams in the semi, not really a fan of Bayern.

Thought the Mancs were a little hard done by this evening. The ref let the Bayern players get away with a lot, whereas Rafael was penalised harshly. A shame, because I thought before the red card he was excellent. Nani played very well, too. Ferguson got it tactically wrong, after Rafael got sent off. By bringing off a crocked Rooney (far too late, should have been subbed at HT) and replacing him with O'Shea, leaving no striker on the pitch, it simply invited a ridiculous amount of pressure on Utd that was bound to tell eventually. He brought on Berbatov and Giggs far too late.

Good news is that their risking of Rooney means he won't play against us :tu:

As for Ferguson's "Typical Germans" comment, all it does is show his true lack of class. Let's compare the English and German leagues and see which has more cheats in it. It's rare for things not to go Utd's way, so I was amused to see them get a taste of their own medicine. Hope we stuff them at Ewood and send RFW into meltdown.

Not true.

Racial group – this means any group of people who are defined by reference to their race, colour, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origin. This could include Gypsies and Travellers, refugees, or asylum seekers or others from less visible minorities. There has been a legal ruling that Jews and Sikhs are included in the definition of racial group.

What a load of New labour tosh that is.

If I offend another religion I am sectarian, a foreign national- xenophobic, another RACE- racist etc etc

I really fear for this country at times, yes it showed the ungraciousness and bad taste you come to expect from Taggart, but come on, 'Typical Germans' people have been saying that with malice and good intentions in Britain for a 100 years!

Free sppech will slowly die if this carries on.

Germans and English must be pretty close racially! but of course everyone is linked up in on eway or another, there are so many mixed up genes from all over the place... racism is just plain stoopid!!!

I can only repeat- the best club sides were all South American in those days.

In the 60s? I think Ferenc Puskas and his mates may have something to say about that.

Staggering statistic from another player involved in those two games vs Arsenal...

Xavi completed 229 out 244 passes over the two legs. That's absolutely unreal for a single player.

Xavi is a wonderful player, another once in a generation type. Doesnt get the credit he deserves.

Impact in important matches.

Ronaldo would be bottom of the pile under this criteria. Big game bottler.

+20.

There was one brilliant moment early on when he used shielding/muscling to dispossess Abou Diaby off the ball. Never saw a similar situation where the "winner" was so much smaller than the other player.

As far as I'm concerned Xavi and Iniesta are the two best team players in the world at the moment. They've got it all and the rate at which they retain possession is stunning. No wonder Fabregas can't get in the Spanish team.

A good blog on BBC site

A bit much from Fergie

It's lovely that Fergie is so touched by the tragedy of his Brazilian player's sending-off, but it really does get a bit much when he complains about the harassment of referees. It's like a polar bear arguing for better protection of seals.

The fact is United had it in the bag last night and they blew it right royally, although I feared the worst when Peter Drury launched into his usual Theatre of Dreams fanfare just before Olic scored.

The fact that Iniesta is out injured and Barca have still won their last 2 games 4-1 speaks volumes about the quality of Xavi.

I can honestly say (due to his talents and our desperate need for that type of player) that if Rovers could have one player in World football, I would choose him.

I thought Fulham and Liverpool would be in trouble but they both produced excel results tonight and have semi-final opponents that are beatable if they can raise their games again.

Please tell me it is Liverpool V Alt Madrid

Drury's just as bad as Clive 'I f**king love Man U me' Tyldsley. He's a rather hysterical commentator at the best of times but stick him into a European night at Yankee Stadium and he acts like every other plastic southerner on a day trip to the superstore.

Even the usually unfussy Ryder asked the audience if they could 'bear it' to continue watching the post-match analysis (such as it was). You're alright Steve. I reckon I'll manage.

Roy Hodgson was a failure at Rovers, at Fulham he has worked miracles . They are now in a European semi and for the past couple of seasons they have been steady in the league. Prior to coming to us he was a big news even being touted as a future England manager what went wrong at Ewood ?

Not much went wrong at ewood, he had a great first season, however in the following season we were near the bottom and a somewhat rash decision was taken to replace him with a potential superstar future manager (similar to ince) as it turned out Kidd was worse and relegation loomed. Roys career as a manager is up there with some of europes best, he brough european knowledge to the club but maybe the club just wasn't ready to embrace it at the time.

His miracle was the relegation escape, the rest has been good, but nothing that special. This cup run is great for them and it's nice to see an English side get so far, especially when it isn't one of the usual suspects, but to be honest it is no more than you would expect from an English side. Beating Juventus is the only time I've felt they've really pulled off anything that resembled a shock and even that I don't consider to be a huge one.

Their league position is just about where you would expect them to be and that is the real test of a manager.

So does that mean that he had lost the dressing room and the players weren't playing for him. From what I can remember if that dreadful season Sutton spent most of it on the treatment table.

Eh, you make it sound like our relegation was nothing to do with Hodgson! He left us bottom of the table, having lashed £20m up the wall on Kevin Davies, Christian Dailly, Nathan Blake et al. Not to mention how he lost the dressing room.
