Can anyone confirm/deny? http://thedailyrover.com/?p=2371&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheDailyRover+%28The+Daily+Rover%29 A bit more on young Zac here http://www.southportfc.net/Home/tabid/36/mid/400/newsid400/1569/Default.aspx
47er Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 A bit more on young Zac here http://www.southportfc.net/Home/tabid/36/mid/400/newsid400/1569/Default.aspx Means there are "built-ins" to the transfer fee, so much to Southport for Premiership debut, so much for first 50 games etc etc. Fair enough.
BigUts Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Having watched Southport regularly for many seasons this one came as a big suprise. The lad isn't exactly setting the world alight at Haig Avenue, but has bags of pace and quite a good pedigree, but all seems a lot of untapped potential. He had a trial at the club before any enquiries where made, as he has made only a handful of first team appearances this season (and last). Reading on the 'Port messageboard, it's a 10k fee upfront and the rest incentives...the main one being for his first Premier League appearance.
DeadlyDirk Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Just hope he's as good as their youth team manager seems to think he is. Haven't seen or heard anything of him but it's always good to see the club investing in the future. The fee sounds like a win win situation really as if he doesn't make it we'll barely have paid anything.
Fife Rover Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 This seems to be the way ahead for Rovers. Keep a very watchful eye open in all the youth leagues and when a specially promising youngster comes to our notice, get him in for trials. Then if successful, agree a deal with his club along the lines we have done with Southport. It should certainly supplement the work of our academy and may even achieve better and more cost effective results.

There where some Southport regulars on the train last night who have said virtually the same who where very surprised to say the least. Also mentioned something about the appearance not even being whether he plays - just a case of being on the bench??
Hughesy Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 To be honest if he gets to Premier league bench stage - then he will of been worth it anyway - a good reserve team player can fetch a decent sum from championship clubs.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Aley could be Blackburn star Audio clip with the head of youth development at Southport near the bottom of the article.
Amo Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Aley could be Blackburn star Audio clip with the head of youth development at Southport near the bottom of the article. "he has a tremendous long throw" Bye bye, Peds!
LeChuck Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 "Zac has studied with us as a scholar for the last 18 months. He's achieved his BTec's and his NVQ's and he's a qualified referee now and he's on the ladder of FA coaching badges." Sounds like he has a real passion for the game there, doing all that at a young age. Another youngster we can look forward to seeing.

sloth_frattelli Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I think youth players now have to undertake so many studies as well as just football incase they don't make it as professional players. Good on the club for taking a punt on this young fella.
Billy Castell Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Sounds like a sensible character, as he has got those qualifications at a young age. Cue AESF story about him drink driving whilst roasting a girl.....................................
hollowsr Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Is he eligible for our youth team this season? Yes he is
Majiball Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Sound hopefully I get to the semi and he gets on the pitch.
Lee Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Yes he is No he isn't. He can play Academy football, but not FA Youth Cup. He's two weeks too old for that.
Majiball Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 No he isn't. He can play Academy football, but not FA Youth Cup. He's two weeks too old for that. Bugger. Lee, do you have any idea when the semi is? Even what week it is would be helpful so I can try and get the night off. Cheers
