Gav Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I didn't see countdown but was sober? that would be a rarity in itself. Apparently he'd clearly been on the sauce on Friday night after his performance against pompey.
jim mk2 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Anyone see MotD ? Clarke may be intelligent by footballers' standards but he didn't look too clever against Pompey on Saturday.
Hughesy Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Anyone see MotD ? Clarke may be intelligent by footballers' standards but he didn't look too clever against Pompey on Saturday. Yep! he basically got slated for doing the countdown thing during a season, when his team are sh!te and he was terrible on saturday!
thenodrog Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Yep! he basically got slated for doing the countdown thing during a season, when his team are sh!te and he was terrible on saturday! He's forging a great career on TV shows. Last week he was on Countdown and on Saturday he was the Weakest Link. btw I even heard that from a Dingle.

colin Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Can anyone deliver a logical reason why a footballer can play on a Saturday & that performance be affected by a pre-recorded quiz show recorded some days before? Carlisle was on MOTD 2 a few weeks back and he spoke more sense in 5 minutes than the usual punters can manage to spout in a year. They go ......"He's come & he's hit it with his left peg & he'll be disappointed with that...." or "He's entitled to go down." Groan.
Billy Castell Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Even though he plays for the wrong team, or perhaps the right team after comments about his most recent performance, Clarke seems a reasonably articulate guy. When at QPR he made an effort to talk to youth players about not living the high life and boozing away like he did when he was younger. At least he's not the usual kind of inane rubbish you get.
RIML Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 If anyone wants a laugh Clarke Carlisle on Countdown He says his hands are sweaty
Fylde Coast Fan Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I'm reasonably intelligent and a rubbish footballer, do you think Laws will give me a game at centre half?
Majiball Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I'd rather go on countdown than pull on that shirt!
brian_gallagher85 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I'm reasonably intelligent and a rubbish footballer, do you think Laws will give me a game at centre half? If Clarke gets injured you may be in with a shout.
thenodrog Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 The next few games will be a big test of character for him after his savaging on MoTD. His form could go either way.
Ozz Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Of course he's brainy. He's an ex-Balshavian. Who only played Rugby and not football when I was a lad!

Backroom Mike E Posted September 15, 2017 Backroom Posted September 15, 2017 Hope he doesn't do anything stupid. Poor bloke has had so many demons. A great shame, being one of the few footballers to seemingly possess a brain.
