Lathund Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I think we should sell our rubbish players and replace them with better ones. Controversial!

Laurence Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I think we should sell our rubbish players and replace them with better ones. Can I just say thats probably the most sensible contribution to this thread so far (and its on page 135).
DeadlyDirk Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Can I just say thats probably the most sensible contribution to this thread so far (and its on page 135). I just repeated the same message that everyone else said but made it a little more basic. Here's our new youngster, Hugo Fernandez
Mozzer Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 we will be linked to lots of players during the summer , but is there any talk on who could be leaving nicko ?? i personally think get rid of the likes of grella , andrews , chimbonda and diouf - with the wages there - and transfer fees we could make a good few million there
Amo Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 i personally think get rid of the likes of grella , andrews , chimbonda and diouf - with the wages there - and transfer fees we could make a good few million there You'd like to think so, but it'll be sucked into the never-ending vortex - along with the Warnock, Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Gallagher money.
Veevs Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 According to Spanish website Airfutbol, Rovers are on the verge of signing Hugo Fernandez, from Union Deportiva Cornella, a team on the outskirts of Barcelona. The 16-year-old centre back has been described as a forceful, strong and aggressive player with a good physique and excellent anticipation. He has been highly rated in Spain, and is said to be doing extremely well at his current level. See earlier note on Hugo.. sounds pretty good long term. Anyone else get the sneaking suspicion that we are now about to become the optimal place for youngsters.. where did BFS or whoever steal our youth scouts and training staff..:?
gaz1979 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Don't know whether this has been mentioned yet: http://thedailyrover.com/?p=3246 Here's another link on this signing http://www.blackburn.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=198491
1864roverite Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I think you can thank Mark Hughes for destroying the manchester city scouting network for the upsurge in Rovers attracting youth talent
gaz1979 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Anybody else heard about this? interest in Robinson from Arsenal http://www.blackburn.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=198490
ewoodpo Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Anybody else heard about this? interest in Robinson from Arsenal http://www.blackburn.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=198490 Probably a load of tosh it's on here as well same story . http://www.goal.com/en-india/news/222/transfer-zone/2010/05/11/1919992/arsenal-keen-on-blackburn-rovers-goalkeeper-paul-robinson
RoyRover Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I think we should sell our rubbish players and replace them with better ones. One of the best things I've seen written in ages! You can put Diouf, Andrews and Chimbonda on that list. we will be linked to lots of players during the summer , but is there any talk on who could be leaving nicko ?? i personally think get rid of the likes of grella , andrews , chimbonda and diouf - with the wages there - and transfer fees we could make a good few million there Agree with you on who should go, although it would just end up in the black hole on Jersey.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I find it hard to believe that bennis wages plus his transfer fee went to paying salgado but there is a black hole at rovers. Same old story of keeping our powder dry in January the come summer someone has snorted all the powder or something and it disappears. If the £3.5 million figure is true then you have to fear he worst, Sam is looking like he could take the club forward but with that amount of backing for any manager in this league there is only one eventual outcome in my opinion. Having said that let's hope it's just a line for the papers so we can quietly do or business. Its shocking stuff TCO but are we really that surprised?..the infamous Ewood 'black hole' appears from nowhere yet again! We all pray and hope its 'paper talk'
nicko Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 11 o clocker nicko? Oh, all right then... DINDANE...Wolves are after him, but will he fancy going there? Bolton are keen too. I hear he is unhappy with Rovers for messing him around twice. Got to say this is one messy transfer. PIQUIONNE...Some Rovers interest, but I understand Fulham are very close to doing it. LEWANDOWSKI...notice the local paper [aka the chairman] are saying that one is still alive. I think not.
ffan Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 PIQUIONNE...Some Rovers interest, but I understand Fulham are very close to doing it. Good lord.
Fife Rover Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 See earlier note on Hugo.. sounds pretty good long term. Anyone else get the sneaking suspicion that we are now about to become the optimal place for youngsters.. where did BFS or whoever steal our youth scouts and training staff..:? Hmmm! now I've got it!! Sam was a CB as a player, so now he is planning to turn Rovers into a team with the finest collection of CB's in the world. I can just see it in about another 3 seasons we will field a team with a keeper and 10 CB's in it, and Sam will be saying to the rest of the PL "now see if you can score against us"
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 PIQUIONNE...Some Rovers interest, but I understand Fulham are very close to doing it. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Our number one striker target, one that is being sought to get us 15-20 goals per season could be Frederic Piquionne?
nicko Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Are Benjani and Beattie targets? I hope not You will know when the search comes round to them... Because you will hear a barrel being scraped.
beanie Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 If those three are our targets i hope to god its the pole the other two a rubbish maybe ok for pompey with all their troubles but not for any decent side.
nicko Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 If those three are our targets i hope to god its the pole the other two a rubbish maybe ok for pompey with all their troubles but not for any decent side. Dindane is going to the World Cup with the Ivory Coast. He scored ten [?] goals in a poor side this season. Three teams at least have taken an interest in him in recent weeks. Piquionne played once for France and managed to shoot a poor side into the FA Cup final. Neither are great players, but both are decent value. What, exactly, are you expecting?
RoyRover Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Our number one striker target, one that is being sought to get us 15-20 goals per season could be Frederic Piquionne? Had the exact same reaction myself man. I've listened to Sam saying how we need a striker to be able to finish off the chances we create and that this person will make a real difference to the team. And then you hear that the players could be Aruna Dindane or Frederic Piquionne.
Exiled_Rover Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Dindane is going to the World Cup with the Ivory Coast. He scored ten [?] goals in a poor side this season. beerwins Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 What we need is a striker who can actually play the lone striker role and an impact striker off the bench (Dindane would have been good for this role in my eyes) who can link up with Kalinic for a real plan b form of attack. There is another route of signing a target man (lone striker) with a creative midfielder, Dunny has his moments but so often the lone striker is found holding up the ball for a Dunny who is eons behind after tracking back. Whatever the purchases Sam will have to be on his game to get what we need for the 10 bob and 2 rusty horse shoes we have to offer.
