According to this article, we have already got a bid accepted on Norwegian International Magne Hoseth. The bid is at 450k.

In my opinion, I dont really know wether to laugh or cry. This deal must never go through!

Have you heared about it Nicko?

From Wiki

He was recently linked with Coca Cola League 1 side Hartlepool United but Pools boss Chris Turner rubbished the reports and said we need to be realistic with our signings.

Sounds decent then…. He also has a very gay hairstyle looking at it!

Are we the only club in the Premier League that has owners unwilling to put a penny of their own money into transfers?

As you saw in the case of Portsmouth and are seeing in the case of Hull, it's not always the owners own money - they expect it to be paid back, and when it isn't, they become the largest creditor of a club in Administration.

Before everybody get's wound up, I wouldn't read too much into that. Just because Rovers don't reveal all information to the press doesn't mean we are working at a slow pace or not working as hard as others to sign players. The only difference is that we have to be a lot more careful with our finances than others who may just rush in to sign a player ASAP to fill a position rather than weighing up all options available. Rovers may still be keeping an eye on a couple of players that have not entered the media radar as yet, therefore as far as many are concerned if interest in a player is not in the tabloids or on the interweb it does not exist..............

Yes and that is exactly the right way to do it.......minimises the chances of getting gazumped. So what if a few impatient punters on BRFCS can't control their immature impulses for instant gratification; it is the important things that matter, and not losing out on chances to sign a decent player at the minimal prices that Rovers can pay is FAR more important.

Wasn't this Jack Walker's dream though? To make the Rovers self supporting? If so, I'd say he achieved it. 10th in the PL with NO investment from the owners.

That's a huge accomplishment and an admirable legacy. Jack Walker has shown other clubs how it should be done. To their misfortune, precious few have followed that lead.

Didnt Coyle say after the Brum game he was going to try? £2m Nantes want I think...

We CAN afford....perhaps its more to do with the player not having proven at a top level?!

There are precious few stars in the making who would go for less than a 4-5 million. I think Lewandowksi was the goods. Holding out for a 'proven' PL goal scorer means that we're paying 10 million plus.

I don't blame the club. We've invested in a potential future star, Kalinic, and haven't seen star performance yet (though I think it will come). But until they know how the Kalinic gamble has paid off, I suspect JW and others would be cautious about placing a similar bet.

I don't count Dindane and Piquonne, as I don't view them as stars- more as competent run of the mill strikers. Which may be a slight improvement for us.

The best we can ask for is they leave us alone and don't asset strip us. Which they are doing.

The Walker family has been very square with the Rovers. Most would have sold everything off to maximize the family fortune, and then send the club into administration. They've behaved well and have honored Jack Walker's memory, best I can tell.

I'm not so sure its pressure, as opposed to speaking common sense. The WC will be a huge distraction, and the preseason will the close on its heels. Unless we want to spend half the season trying to determine our best starting XI, he's right. We need players ASAP so we have plenty of time to sort out each player's best role.

I've never heard of the man. But $450k is cheap and his wiki bio looks reasonable.

why must this never go through?

i back allardyce in the market as he hasn't had any big mistakes yet. the price also means it is low risk.

Agreed, however this guy is 29, hard to stay out of the limelight for 10 years if you are any good.

Suffers from home sickness, suppose that doesn't count as injury prone at least. :D

22 caps for Norway, someone must have seen him play.

The article also quotes a director at the club as saying that he hasn't heard a thing about a bid being accepted.

Well this is disappointing news, but then I've come to expect it as a Rovers fan. We constantly shoot ourselves in the foot in the transfer market.

I'm not Allardyce's biggest fan, but back the man with some money. He clearly knows what he's doing.

I would be amazed if there is anything in the Hoseth story. He is 29...

Think there are better targets than that being considered.

had anyone ever heard of henrik pederson before he signed for bolton wanderers? that didn`t work out too bad for them, did it? if it proves a genuine interest then i`ll back it until the player proves it a bad move.

I'll say it again...I don't think there is anything in this one...this story suggests that may be the case...

i`m aware of that nicko, but the point i`m making really is that if we moved for a player of that ilk(that`s starred in norweigan football for example but never really been scouted by prem clubs previously) then i`d back the move rather than dismiss it. you can be too restrictive on the areas you look to bring in talent sometimes and could be missing out potentially good players at our level. erik nevland has proven a decent servant for fulham in recent seasons after they brought him back to the prem on the cheap from a lesser foreign team, he has been good value for them. with our club being as financially restricted as they are a similar type of signing should never be sniffed at.

:(

But then there are the 3 promoted teams who will HAVE to spend to survive to start with and then there will be those like west Ham who will probably again spend money they don't really have just to stand still. Rather be in our position where we don't need that many players and will still do better than at least 3 other teams unless we're very unlucky

I'd have him here in a flash.

Just think what he'd do for Nicko's game – he'd bag 30 next season!

I never thought of it that way.

With Heskey up front even Sam may be able to justify playing 4-4-2 due to the amount of defensive work Heskey gets through.

The player himself haven't heard anything and thinks it just rumours, and Molde haven't recieved any bids let alone accepted one. The only relevant info I can find is that the local paper of Molde knows Rovers have had him watched over a long period.

Quick summary of the player:

Another great talent who never fulfilled his promise although he's probably more mature and consistent now then he was in his younger days. Suprised he is linked to us because of his age and his style is more suited to a slower tempo style like the French league. I wouldn't put money on the move.
