Nope, that's about right. I think if there isn't anything from nicko we can safely assume that guti is the big news.
braddock Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 you better tell the 125 people reading this thread i just did then you quoted it so that's twice i hope they take the hint
Emge Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 If Guti signs for us, then surely I'll get me a shirt with his name on the back!
Pedderz0912 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Nicko give us a wave, Nicko, Nicko Give us a wave I am going to stay online till I here this news - Give me something to do until Amir Khan starts at 3am lol...
braddock Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Anyone else constantly refreshing? only knobs by the looks of things amirite?
AndyNeil Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 knowing rovers they'd sign him but run out if 'i's at the club shop leaving plenty of fellas with Gut on the back of their shirt
nicko Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I am stunned that the People put that story up on their website so early... And even more stunned that some people think Rovers chasing Guti isn't one hell of a situation. Fair play to the manager for having the vision to try. And fair play to Salgado for trying to chat up his mate about it. Guti is still some player. He has been offered a fortune to go to Turkey but there is a chance - just a chance - that he could fancy the Premier. Bolton were talking to him in January when Megson was in charge...and there was some encouragement. I am slightly shocked that the story did not come out earlier this week. The staff and players all know what is going on. Anyway, if there has been a more exciting player linked with Rovers in the past few years I obviously missed it. Oh, and 'meltdown' was a reference to the 100-plus logged on for this one for the past few hours. There is some story about Lord Triesman coming out too...what a silly old fool. And Dindane will be having a medical with a Premier club in the next 24 hours.

Thought that was what the meltdown was about.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I'll get excited about this when I see Guti in a blue 'n' white shirt.
tony gale's mic Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Anyway, if there has been a more exciting player linked with Rovers in the past few years I obviously missed it. I'd say RSC and Benni in their prime both excited me more and justified this excitement. I'm reasonably happy with it but I've seen so many of these transfers not work out.
nicko Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I would give it 24 hours before he quits... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1278706/FA-chief-Lord-Triesman-Spain-bid-bribe-World-Cup-referees.html
Backroom Tom Posted May 15, 2010 Backroom Posted May 15, 2010 Good about guti bad about dindane IMO. How does Sam rate his chances of landing Guti? you can't deny it could help attract new players in theory some would relish playing alongside him
old darwen blue Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 And to remind you all again what Jacks philosophy was............ THINK BIG This footballer is class end of discussion
nicko Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I'll get excited about this when I see Guti in a blue 'n' white shirt. F*** me. Your manager is trying to sign a genuine 'name' and a talent... I think it is brilliant. And I don't even support your team.
Torgeir Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Thanks Nicko. Having a medical doesn't mean he'll sign for anyone in the next 24 hours though Guti will be 35 soon but I think he has at least one more good season left in him. If nothing else at least it shows ambition...do you think Sam will try for two more strikers regardless of whether we sign Guti or not?
Craigman Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Nicko, The story about Triesman, why would a paper want to wreck the chances of such a big tournament in England, obviously Triesman shouldn't have said what he did, but really the papers should not be allowed to come out with this. The amount of money we are likely to lose in this country for not hosting the tournament will be huge.
nicko Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 How does Sam rate his chances of landing Guti? you can't deny it could help attract new players in theory some would relish playing alongside him The manager has obviously got plenty of fire in him to even consider this. Don't under-estimate his determination in these things. Look at the players he landed for Bolton. Okocha, Djorkaeff, Campo and the brillaint Hierro. All 'done' if you looked at their ages and CVs and yet all superb players in their twilight years. And also remember that this time last year he was told by the money men to cut the bidget by £5 million...and yet managed to increase the payroll and land Salgado despite all sorts of hurdles.
ewoodpo Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Link to the Guti story . http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/football-hotline/2010/05/16/blackburn-plot-shock-guti-move-102039-22260900/

But he is one silly, indiscreet old duffer. This guy runs the FA. What chance does the game have?
Darth Paul Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 F*** me. Your manager is trying to sign a genuine 'name' and a talent... I think it is brilliant. And I don't even support your team. I'm with you Nicko, this is genuinely exciting...get on youtube if you aren't convinced yet...should be a bums on seats job if the public know their football. Whether he signs or not the good times seem to be back at Ewood, I have been on a high since the start of the year and being linked with names like this takes me back to the King Kenny days!
nicko Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Having a medical doesn't mean he'll sign for anyone in the next 24 hours though Of course not...but I do note that the medical is not with Panathinaikos...
