rovers1995 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Nicko, the LET says that Pedersen will give his answer this week. Do you think he will sign or not? I hope he does. Are we any closer in signing a striker?

nicko Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Nicko, the LET says that Pedersen will give his answer this week. Do you think he will sign or not? I hope he does. Are we any closer in signing a striker? Pedersen is in Norway and waiting for offers elsewhere...I don't think there are any that match what he could get at Rovers...60-40 that he stays now I think. There will be big movement on Dindane and Piquionne in the next few days. Dindane is due for a medical at Bolton today - but I won't hold my breath about him turning up. Piquionne is clear to speak to both Rovers and Fulham...have to say Woy's Boys are slight favourites from what I hear. If you miss those two I don't know where that leaves you.
Bobby G Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Nicko are we looking at only 1 striker? I mean Benni and Di Santo have left, so that is two bodies short not to mention that Roberts may or may not be here come August. Also are Dindane and Piquionne our "TOP" striker target for the summer or the second of the two I mention above?

So Lewandowski isnt remotely on the radar i take it. These two are nothing special from what ive seen. Dindane is possibly a step up from Roberts but not by much. I cant believe that missing out on either constitutes a disaster. If it does then i worry for what we might end up with come the end of August. Any idea as to how long we will be waiting to hear about the Guti situation?
wandel77 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Piquionne ?? Can´t see him here at Ewood, and i do not rate him as a goal getter.

Hopefully seeking someone better than those two, neither Piquionne or Dindane are what I feel we need. Nicko are we looking at only 1 striker? Also are Dindane and Piquionne our "TOP" striker target for the summer or the second of the two I mention above? Don't forget Junior can play there as well if he's back-up for both right wing and up front (4th option) then perhaps he'll get some more pitch time and come on a bit more.
modes98 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 If you miss those two I don't know where that leaves you. Hopefully looking at someone that will improve the team and isn't coming from a team that just finished bottom of the PL. There must be better options around than Piquionne! I think I would rather get Grabbi back.

There must be better options around than Piquionne! I think I would rather get Grabbi back. He did a great impression of Roberts in the cup final, open goal easy chance and were does he put it, straight into Cech. Dindane for all his puffing and panting never really did much either and should really have scored espcially with the ball that came straight across. All strikers should be gambling that the defenders will either miss the ball or get a slight deflection. If I was to choose any striker from the relegated teams it would be Fletcher. Nicko, do you know what role Sam has in mind for this "top striker" is wide on the right or down the middle? As they are very different roles?
slough_rover Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 When it comes to obtaining strikers we've been a victim of our own success in the last 5 years. We've managed to sign 3 twenty goal a season men in the forms of Bellamy, Benni and Roque for relatively peanuts. We can't be expected to carry on this tradition for ever and people will have to accept that more often than not you get what you pay for. Nowadays for 3 million we will end up with the Dindanes of this world.

Benjani?,Davies? take your pick Nicko
Hughesy Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Hows about we stop with all the doom & gloom and trust our manager. To be fair to Sam his signings so far have generally been excellent.
nicko Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Dindane and Piquionne ARE currently the strikers on the radar...Lewandowski has slipped off but may re-appear if the price drops. As it stands Dindane may go elsewhere in the next 24 hours and Piquionne is edging towards Fulham. Hopefully both get resolved this week.
Hughesy Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Both could do a job if the price is right.....what sort of fee is Piquionne commanding?
nicko Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Both could do a job if the price is right.....what sort of fee is Piquionne commanding? Lens have agreed a fee of £2.7 million for Dindane with Bolton. [Not Panathinaikos??? ] Piquionne should be around £2 million. Not bad at current prices.
MeanGreenMachine Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I hope we sign Piquionne and he has a great name, really french
Bobby G Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Neither have ever been prolific to suggest that we need a striker to clean up those chances which we create.
Hi Mack Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Piquionne is S*** when we were linked last summer I didn't want him, after seeing him this season I definately dont. If he's the best we can do...................
Amo Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I doubt Dindane will be brought in as a target man. I would imagine he'd play wide in a 4-3-3: Dindane-------------Guti--------------Olsson ------------------------Kalinic--------------------- ^ That's not a shabby forward line.
Bobby G Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Id definitely rather Dindane than Piquionne. But I think we are now outsiders for him.
Majiball Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Has Adriano's contract expired at Flamengo? He fits my definition of a top striker (albeit with some baggage) as opposed to Italy perhaps he fancy a shot at the premiership. Could certainly play the lone role and would hopefully score some goals. Zigic, does anyone know what sort of dollar he'd cost? scores goals. (We could even get a spice girls song going, zig A zig A) Could "porn star" Vagner love be brought here on loan next year? Sidney Govuo, surely would be a great signing on a free for that right wing/attacker slot. Christ even Luca Toni must be worth a look, before we scrape the barrel with the likes of the Pompey duo.
Majiball Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I doubt Dindane will be brought in as a target man. I would imagine he'd play wide in a 4-3-3: Dindane-------------Guti--------------Olsson ------------------------Kalinic--------------------- ^ That's not a shabby forward line. --------Guti----------N'zonzi---------- Govuo-------------Dunn--------------Olsson -----------------Kalinic------------------ I'd prefer this one, Dindane an athlete playing football, we need footballers. Highish wages yes but a proven french international, with talent and more pace than Dindane, perhaps Givet could do a Salgado???
Amo Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Benni.... Reid, surely enough there. Or did we replace Benni while I was away. With Reid, McCarthy and Pedersen *fingers crossed* off the wage bill, how could Guti's wages pose such a headache?
Kelbo Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Watched the Cup Final and I wasnt impressed by either Dindane or the other fella, I really think we could do better and Dindane looks as though he's been eating some of Bennis Pies!! I feel Sturridge would be a better bet than those two, young, has pace, strong and can finish!!
