47er Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I have to say if Sam goes for Piquionne I shall lose all faith in him. He has said he wants a player who can hit the ground running and scoring goals from the off. If that is the case Piquionne is not that striker in 10 years of playing footy he has only ever managed to score in double figures twice. His statistics make Grabbi look good anyhow as have checked out from the link below he is not a regular scorer. http://uk.soccerway.com/players/frederic-piquionne/1328/ Dindane has scored more goals and would be slightly better and would be worth looking at. Depends if he is still available, but if we can't get him I don't think Piquionne would be worth it. Would be then better to go for that Bance chappie from Germany. Perhaps you could donate the additional funds so that Sam could afford someone different?

nicko Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 GUTI...season over, so game on...the first step would have to be a face-to-face between the manager and the player...got all of the radars working on that one... GOVOU...free agent, past it, probably going to a club in Germany. ROQUE...8 million wouldn't buy him...and I'm one of them... DINDANE...should finally be resolved in the next two days...Bolton and Wolves now fighting over him...Rovers seem to have dropped out...very odd...all may yet be revealed...the price is £2.7 million, the wages not daft. PIQUIONNE...still in the hunt for that one...think he will be allowed to speak [officially] to both Fulham and Rovers this week. MENDY...very very ordinary.
herbergeehh Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Would be delighted to see PIQUIONNE sign for only 2m - he's actually very good.
beerwins Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Rovers should have been all over the Dindane deal at that price, strange to see us not going any further though, still I think Piquionne could do a job for us but I fear Fulham will get him. Going to be a long summer methinks
Backroom trueblue Posted May 18, 2010 Backroom Posted May 18, 2010 Well, we can only think there must have been something Sam or the board didn't like about either Dindane or the deal. If he was our no 1 target, then something has changed to make us drop out of the running eh?

Well I think Dindane would be used as more of a creative player maybe Sam thinks he has that aspect covered either Pederson is staying or he is hopefull of Guti coming. Listening to JW on radio lancs last night I got the impression that he was confident of Pederson staying.
Backroom trueblue Posted May 18, 2010 Backroom Posted May 18, 2010 Until Pedersen actually signs I don't think anyone can be confident of him staying
donis1410 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Then IF, If and IF we might get a snIFF. are you talking about signing sturridge on loan or JT's dad?
Bobby G Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Chimbonda CANT play for any other national team. He has played for France already. He can only play in un-official matches.

LeChuck Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Chimbonda's appearance for France was in a friendly...it doesn't count. Eh? I'm pretty sure friendlies count.
nicko Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Eh? I'm pretty sure friendlies count. No, only FIFA-recognised competitions.
Hughesy Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Nope - Chimbonda will be playing in the gold cup qualifiers. A few others have changed if they have played just friendlies & under 21 games etc.
Bobby G Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 It does count at full international level after a certain age,21, which he certainly was over. If he played in youth football such as Boateng for instance or Medjani of Algeria right now, then it would have been a different case. I think your facts are wrong nicko!

You can swap countries up until 21 if you have played in a FIFA-recognised game... You can swap it any time if your appearance was NOT a FIFA-recognised game.
Sysagent Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Very strange. Went back in for him last week but then seemed to get distracted...still trying to find out why. Perhaps it's because he isn't good enough?
nicko Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Perhaps it's because he isn't good enough? So he was not good enough in January when he came for talks...not good enough in March when the talks re-opened...not good enough in April when he had a medical...and not good enough last week when contact was resumed. Don't think that is the answer.
Kelbo Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Perhaps it's because he isn't good enough? I posted earlier, I was less than impressed with him in the cup final, didnt look as though he would give us too much different to what we have, maybe the Guti situation has changed things but you could be right, maybe his performance in the final changed Sams views on the player!!

Really? I don't think we have anyone who sprints down the touchline and tries to cut onto the byline. It's been remarked time and time again that our attack lacks pace. We have Hoilett, but he's played sparingly and needs time to develop.
67splitscreen Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Not to sure when the Guti interest was confirmed, sources suggest around 6 weeks ago or maybe even earlier. Perhaps there is more of a possibility than first thought, if so maybe Sam is now looking for different qualities in the player/striker than what Dindane offers, the same could also be said of Lewandowski although that one is probably financial.

I just never saw an end product to his game at all, didnt create a great deal, never stood out for me anyway! It was a cup final, once in a lifetime game for him and would have expected him to be up for it!!

It must be something to do with finance, Nicko has alluded that the takeover has moved foward significantly. Maybe our targets have changed due to this?

Unless they have gone into the big league, I'd have thought that Lewandowski would be back on the radar, circa 5m, I doubt we are that far down the line with a T/O to commit transfer funds that may or may not be available.
