still I think Piquionne could do a job for us

Well, sure he could, but he'd be a very, very expensive ballboy. And a bit too old for the position. I'd far prefer we invested a considerably smaller amount in a younger candidate. Say, a Tom McDonald from Shadsworth for circa £50 a game perhaps?

I dont think Sam would change his mind based on one game, where for me he played pretty well anyway. It must be something to do with finance, Nicko has alluded that the takeover has moved foward significantly. Maybe our targets have changed due to this?

While I would like to think this is the case, I dont see Sam leaving this to chance.

How many times have we been linked with a takeover over the years with nothing ever coming of it?

I have to say if Sam goes for Piquionne I shall lose all faith in him. He has said he wants a player who can hit the ground running and scoring goals from the off. If that is the case Piquionne is not that striker in 10 years of playing footy he has only ever managed to score in double figures twice. His statistics make Grabbi look good anyhow as have checked out from the link below he is not a regular scorer.

I think you have read that completely wrong.

Im all for signing Piquionne because he has done almost a full season in the Premiership and shown he is competent and can score at this level.

Hitting the ground running in my opinion refers to the fact that he can go straight into the starting eleven, be comfortable with the pace and physicality of the game and hopefully score goals.

I like Niko but a club like Rovers cant be spending big cash on strikers with good records from abroad and be in a position to give them 6-12 months or longer to settle with the style of the football over here.

You would hope so. Suppose it depends on what formation we plan playing next season.

i really don't see changing that much from this season i.e 4-5-1 , in which case 'Piqi coming in as 3rd choice striker wouldnt be too bad , but where does that leave Roberts?

if your post is true then simple mathematics puts him as 4th choice.

Signing a 30 yr old established Prem striker for £2M to be our third/fourth choice striker in 4-5-1 is not going to happen. If Piquoinne comes, and Kalinic and Roberts stays, and we stick with the 4-5-1, Piquoinne is The Striker.

So he was not good enough in January when he came for talks...not good enough in March when the talks re-opened...not good enough in April when he had a medical...and not good enough last week when contact was resumed.

Don't think that is the answer.

Rovers received investment, so looking elsewhere?

When did he do that?!??

On the rovers might have been sold thread

Finding one striker is hard enough. I think Sam is only looking for one new face. We paid £6M for Niko and he has spent one year learning English football. Sam will and must count on him. J-Rob isn´t the goal scorer but gives a lot troubles for defence. He was the first choice again when season ended. Junior is the fourth if needed but plays more on wings. Give me Guti and Piquoinne and I´m quite happy. Fast leg winger would be great bonus.

We have Jakobsen and Chimbonda now. I hope Pascal will be sold though. If Lars also leaves we still have Bert.

Some facebook page suggests we will make an official move for Reo-coker in the next 72 hours...

I hope not he is a decent footballer however , from what I have read about him in the past bit of an attitude problem.

No its from the facebook group 'Blackburn Rovers Football Club'...........which usually pick news stories up - so not sure where they picked that one up from. Ok?
