Outs for me this summer would be:

Brown

Zurab

Emerton

Reid

Roberts

Di Santo

One of Grella or Andrews

Id keep Emerton but sell the rest. Would love Sam to play a game and use all our young and pacey players and see what happens.

Robinson

Salgado Samba Jones Olsson

Hoilett Emerton Dunn Pedersen

Kalinic Di Santo

That'll boost the transfer kitty. Peanuts for Brown, Zurab and Emerton. Nothing for Di Santo & Reid, ofc. And perhaps a few million for Roberts/Andrews/Grella. I agree with most of those outgoings, but where's the money coming from for fresh blood?

You KEEP doing this. It doesnt matter who you think we should sell in the Summer. The fact is we have players under contracts and can only sell them if people want to buy. Sure, there's some that are expiring, but the majority aren't. Continually posting that we should get rid of "one of Grella or Andrews" is utterly pointless.

This does change quite a lot! Pedersen and Diouf were fixtures on your outs list for some time. Now they have gone.... I know thier form has improved, but it only shows that it is hard to predict who is worth selling at the end of the season. May as well wait to see.

By the bye I would definately keep Emerton. Versatile, comitted. A quality pro. One person under threat is probably Nelsen with his injury record and Jones coming through.

Pedersen is out of our hands though - the contract is there - but still no signature. Id re-sign him if he accepted our terms, not held to ransom over his demands.

Diouf has come back a much better player since he was dropped - far better than Emerton anyway, who has been crap and therefore probably has changed my mind a little.

As for 'you can only sell them if people want them' comment-

Zurab - Reading want

Reid is out of contract,

Roberts - if the price was good, plenty of championship clubs would purchase.

Di Santo - on loan so he will go

Grella - wanted by Russians

Andrews - Fulham bid for, so clearly some interest out there.

Brown - fair enough I dont know of anything but im sure a championship club would take him....dingles maybe to replace his brother.

And id let Jacobsen leave too if there was a buyer out there (better for you B4E?) :brfc:

No, its not better. There's no evidence that anyone wants Roberts, there's no evidence that "Russians" want Grella (it was one story in Jan with no quotes) and there's no evidence that Fulham still want Andrews. Likewise Brown, and Jacobsen.

Ok then, fuuck it - we are screwed, our players are crap, nobody wants them, nobody will even offer £10 for them and we look like we will go down next season....lets all be doom & gloom & then lets play Blackpool & Preston the season after next.....YIPEE!!

Your suggesting we should do what you do and pretend our ###### players are good and that the "Russians" want them?

Remember that we are only going to have two strikers in the summer as Di Santo is going back. Roberts is also in line for shifting. So I would imagine we are looking at 'proper' two strikers in and someone who can play wide or upfront (although Hoilett could fill this space).

If we are getting rid of Chimbonda we are (amazingly) going to need to look for another right back as Jacobsen has disappeared (what has happend to him?) and Salgado is 34....

I agree that we need four strikers as a general rule, but there is no point spending big money when we only play one up top. Bring in Lewandowski (or whoever is no.1 priority) by all means, but make Roberts third choice and bring in another player on loan or promote a youngster for the fourth spot. Out third choice striker wouldn't even start a third of our games.

Also, Jacobsen has been injured and was on the bench last week. He looks a good, consistent performer to me and should definitely be kept. Jacobsen, Salgado and Emerton is more than enough competition for RB, although admittedly a little on the old side.

Outs for me this summer would be:

Emerton

No way in hell should we be looking to move Emerton on. He is one of our top players, has a fantastic engine and is extremely versatile. Prior to his injury, he was a key performer for us. Selling him would be a disaster!

Not much for the transfer kitty, but a big savings on the wage bill. 10,000 a week in wages translates to half a million a year in the budget, or 2 million over 4 years. Making room in the budget means we can budget for transfer fees, if need be.

Please dont talk about this....its never going to happen, nobody wants our players and therefore we should close this thread now - as we will have no money to buy anyone! :tu:

Agreed.

Pedersen is still on my list of players i would offload if an opportunity came to replace him with a proper central midfielder or Attacking midfielder. He may be playing slightly better but i think a proper central midfielder will offer more than using Pedersen in that role. With him stalling on his contract offer its looking likley he is off anyways and that we missed the opportunity to get something for him in Jan.

Midfield is the priority as it has been for several seasons, followed by options up front as it looks like Franco is going back. Not sure Niko is going to make it here as i can't see Sam changing his tactics to get the best out of him. Expect us to be linked to players like Zigic or Janko, a 6 foot 5 plus striker would suit our current system far better.

There was absolutely nothing doom and gloom about what I said. You've tried to put words in my mouth to justify your repeating the same old pointless post. It doesnt matter who you think we should sell, because "should" and "will" are totally different. Thats all I said, you made up the rest.

Alot of the players on that list will be on high wages and wont want to take a step down

And there's the rub.

I'm sure if we told Jas to bugger off to Leeds for half his current wage he'd tell us where to go. Likewise Brown, Jacobsen (who hasn't done much wrong), Chimbonda, Grella, Andrews, Rigters, Khiz and any other player we may want to get shot off. I'd also suggest as others have that around half of those wouldn't be men in demand if they were up for sale.

Of course he'll make it here...he's made it here...first name on the team sheet at the moment....he's playing well, looks strong and could definately be Sam's Kevin Davies in the next few seasons.....Personally I think he'll end up at west ham if bilic takes over as manager. Otherwise I think he'll end up moving for a few quid to a top 7 side.

Too many players leaving the club could be a problem , we have a settled squad of players , yes it has its weak areas and we have players who are either out of contract or loans due to expire and we have to be mindful of the new laws regarding home-grown talent , personally i think we will do what we normally do only replace the players we lose we may have 1 "biggy" and the rest will be loans/free's/unknown's with the preference being british players out-of-contract

Firstly will there ever be a day where the hand bags don't come out and a debate takes place. (yes I'm as guilty as the next man)

Anyway, I can see why some would want rid of Emo, he's hardly contributed much IE goals and assists. I still want to see him in the middle though with Ped's and N'zonzi, I truly think the three would work very well together. Emerton would carry the ball from midfield and is actually fit and works hard unlike Dunn ( looks so out of shape, compared with before Xmas, not impressed at all with him anymore). But they lack experience in the roles so would be a risk, but playing Keith is one as well, at times.

Signings wise why shouldn't people voice who they would shift on or not? I have the ones I'd sell just as much as the next man. Fans get just as excited speculating about comings and goings as they do watching the game these days. The Russian Grella story has as much substance as the ledonowski (sp) one.

Transfer wise, I've been harping on about the new TV deal all season, so surely we will have some funds this summer??? How much we will get is another matter, but surely we haven't spent it already not with the profits we've made on signings in the last year or two.

I hope its still there to spend as if its not, then the least disruptive way to raise funds will be selling one player and that would be Samba most likely. Which will not see a happy Majiball (whats new).

For me this summer we need a few players but not much really, another left back would be good (still can't believe we didn't get one in the summer) a striker and a central midfielder. But we need more quality so that means funds, so lets just hope the trust are still willing to do what they offered in Jan if we are not sold by then (especially if we've not got any funds from the new TV deal). In an ideal world we'd be getting in some Sam style freebie's but until we know who's coming and going we have nothing to work with? Except the Benni money which could easily get a decent freebie signed up now, with only wages and signing on fee's to be paid.

Outs for me are simple really, stream-lining time:

One of Bunn or Brown, which ever brings the most money in, probably Bunn. We don't need the three of them with fielding (send him out on loan 24 hour recall) so shift one and free up funds.

One of Chimbonda or Jacobsen, whichever we can shift. We have never needed three right backs, shift one.

Reid - Great bloke, great attitude but looks like he's not what he was, we have to be ruthless.

One of Grella or Keith, again whichever we can shift. We have too many here, even with Reid leaving. The versatility we have in Pedersen and Emo should be enough cover.

Basturk, only a few weeks left hasn't set the reserves on fire, so bye bye.

We must retain Pedersen IMO, for a club of our financial muscle, team co-hesion is imperative. He's been here ages knows the rest of the lads games inside out (i hope he does anyway) which can only help our cause.

But this is the big issue, will we be gambling again or will we actually have some transfer funds from the new TV deal, because we don't need more maybes or gambles we need quality and that costs. A few quality signings and not magpie like business this year, like last and we could really push on next year, we could even make the top of the premiership No. 3 league next year.

Here's hoping our scouts have been earning their crust this year and the hit-list is already sorted.

PS. On Kalinic, he'll do better than West Ham, I won't be surprised to see him move on to a top 4 club. I also wouldn't be surprised if he was being watched by them now. He's doing a great job at a young age, all on his own for the most part as well, not many can do that in this league.

Has he been linked to west ham? Have not seen that link anywhere.
