[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

Recommended Posts

John Williams:

"Sam (Allardyce) is currently on holiday but he'll be delighted, he made this, together with finding a striker, our summer priority.

"He regards Morten as a key member of the squad and his future at Ewood Park is now secure."

I think with those words, a pay-rise is a certainty. :(

Nicko, did MGP's new contract improve or did he take a pay cut?

Serious question?

Sorry but as ###### poor as he has been I cannot see him taking a paycut and staying with us can you?

Regardless of the lack of interest from this country he had lucrative offers (so we are lead to believe) on the table from a couple of other clubs. Even if he prefered to stay in this country why would he take a pay cut on his current salary if he didnt need to?

Nope I suspect he is sitting pretty waiting for his first new fat bumper pay cheque to clear and wondering how he can ###### it up the wall.

Oh and an after thought he may start thinking about the new season.........

It's ironic how we talk about our wage budget holding us back in the transfer market, and then we hand Pedersen a pay-rise. Even his fanclub would be hard-pressed to say he deserves it.

It now looks like we'll have another summer of papering over the midfield cracks.

how about trying to lure henry from barca this summer? he is being linked to ny red bull. i know he would demand high wages and that it is a long shot, but heck he is an amazing player!

Henry thinks to himself, the nightlife in new york city or the nightlife in blackburn?

wonder when jw will make him an offer? :rover:

There's not much in the two places really.

They have central park which was probably modelled around Witton park.

They have the Brooklyn bridge but we have that nice new turqoise one.

They have grand hotels like the Waldorf Astoria but don't forget we have the issy motel.

And for me the statue of liberty pails in comparison to our lovely metal tree sculptures.

I think we'd all rather take a stroll down Darwen street than broadway or fifth avenue as well.

Tough choice but if he brings his wife and takes her to steals it could be a clencher, if only Tommy Balls was still here it would be academic.

Deal is allegedly already signed, sealed and delivered, just will become official after the World Cup. Makes more of a splash with the NY fans if they can actually watch him right away, as it is the middle of the season here.

If that’s true , that is shocking business. That is over 11 million over 4 years, for a player that has done nothing for the past three seasons. Those sort of wages should be reserved for our start players I.e. Samba

No wonder the club has no money to spend- if it wastes that sort of cash on players such as MGP. I would of offered 30K- take it or leave it. There are players who would could bring in who would represent far better value ( and potential re-sale) that over 11 million on a player , who imo offers extremely little to the team.

How much did we offer Bentley to stay, sure it was reported to be around £60k? £50-60k you would think would be our top limit for our very best players. Out of the current crop you would probably be looking at Samba, maybe Robinson pushing close to £50k i would have thought.

Pedersen must now be one of our highest earners (if this figure is true) and he isn't anywhere near our best player.

Not often I agree with you bazza but I certainly do here, I'll feel slightly sick if he is on £55k a week.

For that money we could have signed someone for £5 million and paid them £30k a week. I refuse to believe there aren't plenty of better players than Pedersen in that bracket.

Just a couple of things on this...

Hauge talks to that paper. So the info will be close to the truth.

The Norwegian kroner is worth about £1.10...so if it's any consolation that makes it £50,000-a-week.

I hear that this includes [a] signing-on money and may be the top line if he gets his maximum bonuses for performance.

Wow if that article is even close to being correct it sounds like a lot. The translator suggets it's anywhere between 20 and 29 million Kroner a year which would put him on anywhere between 40k-60k per week. My guess is he's gone up to about 40k with the rest being paid in bonuses. Still a lot but probably isn't a huge rise to what he was on before, perhaps 10k a week, the bonuses he probably already had. Just my take on it anyway.

A lot of money for a decent player but I guess at least we didn't have to fork out a big fee for a new signing as well to replace him. Of course this article seems to come from some Norweigen MSN website so how accurate it is I have no idea. From the little that I know about the club this would make him our top earner which does seem a bit surprising.

Hmm, its just stupid.

As someone said, he should get a 30k wage, take it or leave it!

Tv2 Sporten also said in their news report, that Gamst had other offers from Premier League, and more lucrative offers from an foreign club.

Nicko?

Any idea what the prize tag on Eden Hazard would be?

;) Looks like he won't be seeing much of that then

He's signed now so I am not going to continue to flog a dead horse. But my final say is that I think this has been a bad deal especially long term for the club.

I have to say overall I am concerned that we keep getting told by JW that our wage bill is too high and yet last season Sam forced the board to bring in Salgado, we offer Pedersen a £50k+ 4 year deal and we have been looking at Guti who would command a huge wage (£60k+) if reports are correct.

I am not saying we are going to go the way of Pompey, but they did have loads of mediocre players on huge wages. If these figures of big wages are true it just smacks of bad management of the club to me. Surely we can't keep running a wage bill that completely eats up the money coming in? I guess it just means that we are going to have to continue to sell our big name players to pay off debts and fund new players therefore making it difficult to push on to the next level.

It says that he got a raise from 20m to 29m.

Wow, if he's on anything like £50k then I'm utterly astonished and completely against the club's decision to retain him.

EDIT: no wonder he's suddenly so happy in Blackburn and wants to spend another four years here - what club on the planet would pay him £50k, aside from us of course.
