[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

PS. On Kalinic, he'll do better than West Ham, I won't be surprised to see him move on to a top 4 club. I also wouldn't be surprised if he was being watched by them now. He's doing a great job at a young age, all on his own for the most part as well, not many can do that in this league.

Has he been linked to west ham? Have not seen that link anywhere.

No not yet ;) , Sparky marky said two posts up that he thought he could end up there thats all.

Ah ok phew id have been gutted if that is calibre of club that was after him i know they have just been taken over but have major debt and are worse than us Niko will end up going but it will be to a team bigger than us and not one of our rivals he's a class act and i can only see him getting better.

Of course he'll make it here...he's made it here...first name on the team sheet at the moment....he's playing well, looks strong and could definately be Sam's Kevin Davies in the next few seasons.....Personally I think he'll end up at west ham if bilic takes over as manager. Otherwise I think he'll end up moving for a few quid to a top 7 side.

I don't think he has 'made it' yet, he has shown great promise and potential but has hardly set the prem alight. I'm a big fan of his, love the work-rate and the way he plays so i do want him to succeed. Honestly I am starting to feel sorry for the lad, all he seems to get is long balls pumped up towards him and no players nearby to support. The only game where we consistently had players linking up with was the Villa second leg league cup game (especially in the first half) where we probably played some of our best attacking football of the season.

If you want to get the best out of him you need to either bring in a strike partner or add some real top quality in midfield to support him. You mention that you see him being a Kevin Davies type player leading the line and holding up play for the players supporting him and scoring say 10-15 goals a season, Niko could probably do that. If you give him a strike partner that compliments him in my opinion you could far exceed that.

who the fudge said nelsen's future is in doubt? one relatively small injury, no noticeable loss of form, one great performance from a youngster and the club captain might be shown the door? get real.

Agreed.

Pedersen is still on my list of players i would offload if an opportunity came to replace him with a proper central midfielder or Attacking midfielder. He may be playing slightly better but i think a proper central midfielder will offer more than using Pedersen in that role. With him stalling on his contract offer its looking likley he is off anyways and that we missed the opportunity to get something for him in Jan.

So you'd get rid of Pedersen eh? Ok, so let a player who plays 90 mins week in week out go on a free whose probably worth around £6m. Who will we replace him with??? We don't get a transfer fee to spend and I doubt he's on massive wages. How can we bring in a better player on similar or less money with no money to spend? Answers on a postcard.....

I'm sure the most astute managers around the league have noticed that his best attribute, his movement, would be best utilized by playing off a target man. He's doing a job for us at the moment, but it's a crime he's up front on his own - it's no wonder we've scored so few goals.

These are the players that I expect may be gone, as a realistic matter, come summer:

Brown or Bunn

Zurab

Reid

Roberts

Di Santo

MGP

Rigters (assuming anyone wants him).

If Sam can shift them, and assuming we stay at 12th or even improve slightly, I can see John Williams giving Sam the greenlight to bring in some players more to his liking. Which would be a good thing for the Rovers, next season.

Completely agree with Briggsy - we should be doing all we can to be keeping MPG

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce is lining up a £1m bid for Notts County goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Not a bad signing if true - and would allow us to sell either Brown or Bunn

Dunno about him at all, flaps around a bit from what I have seen.

He's still quite young, he no doubt has big potential and his dad usually follows him around & coaches him...perhaps get him working with our other keepers too!

Have you seen this guy play? He is utterly useless! We should stay well clear.

Also, do you really see either Brown or Bunn fetching upwards of £1m?

It would effectively be a straight swap, and I'd certainly have Bunn over Schmeichel, and I've never even seen Bunn play.

Were you there when we played City in the league during that spell in goal? He flapped at everything, his kicking was poor and he looked a liability.

He had a spell in goal for City, but it wasn't overly successful. He only started because Hart was injured and, when he returned, Schmeichel was immediately benched. He got some hype because of who his dad was.

Sam is a big fan of Champ Manager. He's also looking to splash out £5m on To Madeira.

I'd happily let Brown go for free! Bunn, by all accounts, however, is a good player - still I don't really see him bringing in real money.

Over the years we've collected keepers like pennies, and they've all been rubbish. £1m is a lot of money to just waste on a third / fourth choice keeper (not that I'm reading too much into anything written by the Daily Mail).
