Blimey! I would imagine that Nicko isn't best pleased with that article. Austrian? Vincent? Still, hope it's true. If it is Gala want their bumps feeling.

Nicko any truth in the rumour bolton are lining up a 4 million bid for samba

You couldnt get his toe nail clippings for that.

He makes Rio "I look like I'm constantly sucking a lemon drop" Ferdinand look like a talentless gimboid.

4 million...

Replacment for Cahill...

Well with a plethora of errors like that the rest must have a better chance at being right.

It’s just odds isn’t it?

Grella out & Guti in? That would be fantastic! Get anyone else who's peripheral off the wage bill (Reid, Zurab), use the Benni money & whatever else we can copper up to bring in a decent striker and, with MGP's contract now finalised, that's us all sorted for the transfer window. Sit back, enjoy the World Cup & look forward to next season :)

It is such a awfully varified story that I am half tempted to think Nicko is having a laugh at us.

If we sold Grella for 2.5m that would be sensational for use as he has had about 300 good minutes on the pitch for us in two years.

I find the idea that anyone would pay us decent money for a perennially injured player ridiculous but I said the same thing last year with Cruz and we sold for 18m so I will keep my mouth shut.

Blimey, I really hope this is true, I've been dying for someone to take him off our hands for a long time. Decent player but total crock.

The problem is the thing people seem to have failed to notice amidst the catalogue of errors. It says that we want £2.5 million for him, not that they will give us £2.5 million for him. What people have read as good news could in fact be bad news- surely £2.5 mill for him is an unrealistic demand? I'd be pretty damn chuffed with one million for him. However, I hope it is true, it would be a godsend for us. Not only would we get a wage-draining crock off the books and actually make money with it to go for Guti, we would make our main rivals for the Spaniard no longer need him! Couldn't get any better really, and I think Tugay and even Lucash would be owed a letter of thanks!

A ten goal man would be a world of improvement and would have had us at 9th.

And is Benjani a 10 goal a season player on a regular basis? 10 was a starting point; 15 would be better, although I know they are rare. But if your chief striker can't hit 10 on a regular basis then you will struggle. We may have finished 10th but without goals we can't think we'd do it again. Part of the goalscoring is the chances but they still have to be scored. Would Benjani score them or free space for someone else to? I'm still not convinced. If we put most of our cash into bringing Guti to Ewood, yes we won't have much to spend on a striker and I can see the logic and imperative there. However, does it have to be Benjani? Is he good enough?

I agree with that.

It almost sounds like something that could only happen by taking charge of two or three clubs on Football Manager in a dirty cheat.

It depends how he's marketed. There's the 'He's a total crock, we'll never get £2.5m for him' way or there's the 'He's an Australian international who we paid £4m for only 2 years ago and who has been unlucky with injuries in his time here. A change of club would likely bring a change of luck' way.

Don't forget £2.5m is the amount we were paid for Shefki Quki proving there is always some mug who has more money than sense (This isn't part of my marketing pitch  )

If Cahill is worth £14m, then Samba is worth at least £20m.

Just imagine what a boost it would be to our team if we lost Reid (4 appearances last season), Grella (17 appearances last season), Zurab (0 appearances) and replaced them with 1 or 2 players that actually stay fit....

Like Mogster said - some mug always seems to be willing to pay a fee for players, Shefki Kuqi being the prime example!

The 'Austrian' Grella move has a big chance of happening...it's been going on for weeks...shocked it hadn't been written before.

A couple of well-informed folks round here knew about it long before I did.

If that came off you would have won the pools, possibly twice over.

Bolton and Chris Samba is just too bizarre to even run past my chum...there is interest in Cahill but it's from a club with not enough money.

All else quiet.

Sorry for the lack of an 11 o'clocker. Trying to get my head round Lost. What a lot of old ######.

To be fair when he signed he has a very good reputation - he just hasnt stayed clear of injury here. If it happens, then all is forgiven Lucas!!

It is a shame. I was looking forward to him having a great Rovers career.
