ewoodpo Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I would rather go for Mido than Benjani or Beattie, he is only on a £1000 a week at WHU, last I heard. You are having a laugh Mido likes pies more than Benny Mcdonalds. Saying that the other two you mention are not much better .
67splitscreen Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Guti now says he wants to stay at Real. U TURN If true we should be able to move on to other targets now.

MeanGreenMachine Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Guti now says he wants to stay at Real. U TURN If true we should be able to move on to other targets now. Surely if he has said somthing there would be a quote?
Plastic Head Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 This is the boy we need, Sam, get on the phone... Lukaku
Hughesy Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 All over the web that Guti wants to stay at Madrid instead....surely some truth in it? One comes from the mirror too!
67splitscreen Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Surely if he has said somthing there would be a quote? Not sure you would get a quote from an alleged radio report. It's also on the Mirror website. I've also read he is waiting to speak with Mourinho.
Guest Kamy100 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Guti was all set to leave Madrid, however with Mourinho about to take over he is now looking to talk to Jose before deciding on his future. If Jose indicates to him that he still has some role at Madrid then he will stay, if he is surplus to requirements then he will leave. My gut feeling is that he will leave, Madrid are looking to bring in the likes of Snjieder, Goucrouff and Cambiasso. However this is likely to take a number of weeks to resolve, so the key question facing Big Sam is does he sit and wait for Guti and possibly miss out on other potential players, with no gurantee that Guti will come or does he go ahead and sign other targets but then not have the finance in place should Guti say that he wants to join Rovers at a later date.

They are all from the single source though, that radio report, lets hope/or not as the case me be that it was lost in translation.
OJRovers Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 GUTI: Surely it depends if Real Madrid want to offer him a new deal? He might want to stay, but they might not want him. I think there is a big chance Mourihno will want to bring a lot of people in, so they will have to move a few on.

Guti has a year left on his contract but was told he was free to go, that could change now though. Franco has been told he can leave by West Ham - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/8706372.stm Could be a decent option to add some depth? I always thought he looked good for them, he did well against England the other night too.
Majiball Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Guti now says he wants to stay at Real. U TURN If true we should be able to move on to other targets now. He can want it as much as he likes, Mourinho had the chance to take him this season after a bust up between pellegrini and Guti with certain Inter players begging Mourinho to sign him. Never happened, I just don't see the two hitting it off, the chase for us is still on. This is the boy we need, Sam, get on the phone... Lukaku Cracking player, is he playing for Belgium or for the Congo? if the later Samba start telling him how much he'd love it at Rovers. Perhaps he's the young player the trust would dig deep for?
rog of the rovers Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I was going to mention that Franco is available on a free. He did well at West Ham, and looked ok the other night at Wembley (He did score didn't he?).
bluebruce Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 This is the boy we need, Sam, get on the phone... Lukaku Holy hells, that's an incredible achievement at that age, even in the Belgian League (which has actually churned out some very good players don't forget). Top scorer at 16!!! I've never heard of such a thing in a top flight. Already physically developed enough to handle it (and probably the Prem too, physically that is), has to be worth a look. The problem being it seems like we might already be too late, judging by the clubs linked with him, and he would probably cost a lot, but it's the sort of signing I'd be creaming myself about, even if he didn't play much the first year. We might be better keeping tabs on or snatching his one-year-younger brother though, according to the article he's making waves in the youth team like his older bro did. Wonder if we could exploit that rule (think it still exists or ever did in Belgium) about signing players for free before they turn 16 and sign pro terms? Cracking player, is he playing for Belgium or for the Congo? if the later Samba start telling him how much he'd love it at Rovers. Perhaps he's the young player the trust would dig deep for? According to the article he has played a friendly for Belgium, but I read that friendlies don't tie you permanently to a country anymore. Sounds like he has at least a good, and possibly an astonishing career ahead of him.
SergioPeter89 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 lol. Lukaku is maybe one of the most talented players in the world atm, and he has an incredible potential. Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, Inter and Barcelona are all watching him, and has been doing that for a while. He has already played for Belgium, and if he already has got his national debut for Belgium at that young age, why would he change to Congo?
MeanGreenMachine Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I think Franco would be a good addition. Has the right attributes to be the ‘target’ man we are after, on a free and wouldn’t be on massive wages one would assume. I like the idea. And the Belgian/Congo kid, I remember Anderlecht saying it would take a massive offer for him to go. The lad also said he wanted to stay for a while as he is too young to leave his family. And there would be far bigger fish in for him than us IF he became available.
Kie_BRFC Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 What about Roman Pavlychenko from spurs. He seems to be always on the bench for spurs, might be to expensive for us though. Although maybe a loan deal ???

Franco did very well at West Ham, good footballer in the Sheringham mould. He has the ability to lead the line or play off the main striker. Although he did miss a lot of games for us and isn't getting any younger......

saxo1man30 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 This is the boy we need, Sam, get on the phone... Lukaku i personally feel for the first team we need a proven experienced striker that can net around 10 a season, preferably 6 foot plus in height and with good body strength to hold up and flick on/knock down to supporting runners from deep. james beattie has to be the most likely signing at the moment i`d have thought. if we could sign youngsters like that though for free/a small fee for the acadamy/prem reseves though and bring them through then obviously that`s a no-brainer.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Goalscoring sensation - surely is worth under £1m at the moment. Scored more than our team put together and definately better than Roberts!

Dont u guys follow european football at all? To compare Lukaku with a random young player that is being brought into the reserve team is just pathetic. Lukaku is already incredible strong, big, and good to head the ball, and hold up play.. He would walk straight into our starting XI if he came here. Problem is, and I dont know why we even are discussing this. Lukaku would never come to Rovers, and Rovers would not have the money to buy him.
