I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this, and even moreso when I saw the writer's name...surely this is tosh?

Bellamy...to Cardiff, Mr Nixon?!?

Ok. I get it, he likes Cardiff, he's Welsh and all that. But this season he was one of the best strikers in the Premiership, Cardiff are in the Championship next year after losing the play-offs, they want to offer him a paltry 25k p/w and convince City to give him away for free?

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever said this to you Nicko, but surely you're just lying? Or your editor attached you to an article you didn't write again?

If it's true, surely to God we (and every other team in the league except Spurs, though they probably would anyway) need to be making moves?

I dont think its that far out, really.

Its apparently his favourite club, and Cardiff in the Premier League, surely it makes sense.

But then there is the money-issue of course....

Edit: Yeah right...Cardiff in the premier league...I was a bit fast on the trigger there....well, then it sure is far out!

Cardiff City are trying to do it, they think Bellamy wants to come and it is now down to figures.

If it was any other player you would say 'no chance' in the circumstances.

But Bellamy is a one-off. His family is down there, he likes Dave Jones, he is loaded...

So it's down to Man City giving up a fee on him...

Uncharted waters, but all parties are trying to see if it can work.

We have mostly only needed to play Olsson at left back when Nelsen has been injured and Givet has to move inside. With Jones, and perhaps even Hanley, this is no longer necessary.

Are you stalking me, ;) Saxo is around somewhere.

My comment was based more on an injury to Givet, as you posted in another thread unless we sign the likes of Ledley to replace Chimbonda it means wholesale changes to the MF.

Chimbonda is not comfortable on the left side as he showed numerous times this season.

He's too good to play in the Championship. He's at the peak of his career. He's too good for any bottom half of the Prem team. He's loaded, but so are all top footballers- when did it matter? Bellamy could play for ANY Premiership team, and definitely get a wage double (potentially close to quadruple) what Cardiff are offering. Man City could get 7 million for him without even asking anybody. I don't see how it makes sense for anyone except Cardiff. Even as somebody that has always maintained that if I became a Premiership-quality player I would have stayed at Blackburn my whole career if possible- but only if they stayed top flight. And I'm rare in saying even that.

Fair enough if you've heard it, but I suspect somebody might be telling you porkies. But ehh, on the family proximity thing, isn't Blackburn pretty close to Wales too? Just ask Robbie Savage ;-)

Anybody else remember Mr. Bellamy saying he had always been a Liverpool fan though? Interesting.

Not stalking you, you're just spending a lot of time on here like me, because roversmad is down! I definitely never said we should replace Chimbonda with Ledley though...

Ok, I give up, as you say the boards down, so who was it?.

Are Cardiff not in financial meltdown after missing promotion?.

Beckford is signing for Everton...no major surprise...look forward to seeing him in the reserves at Widnes.

Bellamy WANTS to join Cardiff...that's the factor driving that move on...you can't apply normal rules to him...he is a total one-off.

If he does join them, they must be serious contenders for automatic promotion, barring admin of course.

Maybe the guys would play better if they had Quim around...

Capello doesn't think so!

My cousin is married to a Spanish chap called Quim, never stops being funny despite being a thoroughly decent fella.

I've got some words going round in my head now you've told me that. Lets assume your cousin is called sarah.

Do you Sarah take Quim to be your lawful wedded husband!! If anyone objects let them now say their piece, I wouldn't have been able to stop laughing if I was there.

Now, now, calm down - very snappy today

OK, perhaps it was a little snappy.

The only difference for me between Guti and another quality player on a free is that Guti knows Salgado. For me thats it, there's not 3-4 differences just one, so for someone like me its worth the punt with another quality player should it all go pete-tong.

Sam has the patter to do it, so why must we aim so low down with our signings? With a number of quality freebies this summer such as the ones mentioned, surely by moving swiftly and desicively we could pull one off?

Riquelme

Adriano

Guti

D'Alessandro

To name but 4 players who would walk straight into our 1st 11, which is what we need. We don't need sub's or washed up rubbish, championship charlies, we need quality. I reckon most of the mentioned players would be very happy on 60-70K a week and Sam could sell it to them, he's done it before as have we. You keep saying its not realistic, and yet history agrees with me.

The one thing I really miss from the Hughes days is I knew every summer we would sign one player of quality, maybe a little broken but a player who if he could be fixed/tamed would really make a difference.

"With the right attitude, preperation, planning and approach you can achieve anything" - Majiball

PS Bellamy wants to go to Cardiff??? Unique.

Reports also starting to circulate that Moyes is back on the trail of Ledley, if he's ever been off it.

If we are interested I doubt we would win that race.

Wonder if Beckford signing for them would push Anichebe down the pecking order.

Couldn’t agree more. We need a couple of quality players this summer and any from that list would be more than adequate. Our team is perfectly organised and drilled now, we know how to play the percentages, a player of quality would move us on no end. Remember or Ockcha transformed Bolton? Guiti or Riquelme could do the same for us.

There has been speculation that Ledley was heading to Everton for the entire season....and Beckford since about January - so neither would suprise me to be honest.

If Bellamy joins Cardiff then he will almost single handedly destroy that league & Cardiff should win the league!

Rovers in for Fletcher??!

Also from another source - shropshire star

"Wolves are hoping their early pitch for £7m-rated Burnley striker Steven Fletcher sees off late interest from Birmingham and Blackburn. The club are waiting to hold official talks with the Scotland international who has left his future in the hands of his agent. "

No interest in Fletcher...he will pitch up at Wolves.

£7 million sounds way too high for me.
