Sam stated he wanted business completed before the start of the world cup, so how does being on holiday help that??

Also 9 days to go and not a sniff of an incoming transfer, trust in Sam, of course but will be interesting to see what happens; got a feeling our business will be done after teams have been knocked out the world cup as right now must be diff to get hold of them.

I'm warming to the idea bobby. When you see our list of targets so far including benjani and Beattie you have to think Boyd would be a better option. He has age on his side and if things didn't work out he'd be easy enough to sell on to a championship club as his wage demands are not rediculous for a prem forward.

His goal ratio is excellent, I know there will always be arguments about the standard of the Scottish league but he has to still put the chances away. His strike rate at international level isn't bad either.

Goalscorers of his type score scrappy goals. They are poachers. It wouldnt matter if he plays in the PL or somewhere else I think. I should say it matters less. He is a penalty box player. Id say on a free transfer, worth taking a chance on.

Henrik Larsson came from the SPL as well. He went on to become striker for FC Barcelona.

I wouldn't mind Boyd in the squad for next season.

Boyd is a very poor player though. At least Beattie has done it at this level, if sparadically. I doubt Boyd would do anything, he couldn't trap a bag of cement and not even Rangers rate him that nmuch as he is often left out. Then agin, I said the same about Steven Fletcher last summer and he did OK.

Please, because they played in the same league doesn't mean you can compare them. It's like comparing Ashley Ward and Alan Shearer, some respect for Larsson is due I think.

But do we get the balls in the right areas for him to score, Kalinic would score the chances he takes!

I didnt say anything about Larsson world cup experience or shirt number. I said it is possible to compare the two strikers goal ratio when they are both playing in the same league and for one of the two best teams in the SPL. You can't disagree with that ?

this is exactly the reason, why we say that as fans, we don’t give the player the chance to prove himself. We have very little money to spend, but yet we expect an expensive striker, who has no guarantee of doing the business either. We will however be willing to give him a chance, because he is an expensive signing or a big name signing. Boyd is an interesting option, because he would come in on a free, and is fairly youngish with a good goal scoring record. Forget that it’s the Scottish league, he still has to find the back of the net.

Out of all the strikers that we have been linked with I would take Boyd. As long as we don't bring Beattie back I'm happy.

Was talking to a Ranger's fan, he said that Boyd is a very good finisher, if we create chances he will put them away. However he said that he was sometimes lazy, lacked pace and may struggle with the pace of Premier League football due to low levels of stamina, I suppose that Sam and his team could work on some of these aspects should we decide to sign him. As a free transfer, Rovers may decide that he he is worth taking a risk on.

the same could be said of kevin davies and sam worked wonders with him at bolton - i thinks he's a no-risk signing apparently he wanted 20k a week at rangers and they could not afford that , but surely we can , and if it doesnt work out we can ship him back to scotland or championship club for a fee

It's a big risk if he's our only striker signing. Roberts and Niko haven't exactly hit the onion bag too often have they! In a small squad, we must have strikers who can perform.

I'm not a fan of Boyd but if it's between him and the other useless donkeys we have been linked too I rather we signed Boyd.

I don't see why we should sign another forward that doesn't fit our system. Boyd's been left out of Rangers starting XI because he can't play as a lone striker. We need a big lump with a big head, not a poacher.
