[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

I don't see why we should sign another forward that doesn't fit our system. Boyd's been left out of Rangers starting XI because he can't play as a lone striker. We need a big lump with a big head, not a poacher.

were,s nicko he,s not been on for a few days boyd would be ok for the rovers but we could do better

I was just working away quietly - not much happening.

Then I saw someone mention Kris Boyd in the same breath as Henrik Larsson...

Now I am just going for some serious therapy.

Was talking to a Ranger's fan, he said that Boyd is a very good finisher, if we create chances he will put them away. However he said that he was sometimes lazy, lacked pace and may struggle with the pace of Premier League football due to low levels of stamina, I suppose that Sam and his team could work on some of these aspects should we decide to sign him. As a free transfer, Rovers may decide that he he is worth taking a risk on.

He HAS NO PACE

He cant play the lone striker role

He only scores against the weaker Scottish teams

Hes not very good on one v ones

But he does take the penalty's

Kris Boyd isnt of the standard we need.

Nicko, before you go off to see the shrink , have we had any contact with Boyd or his agent ?

Henrik Larsson came from the SPL as well. He went on to become striker for FC Barcelona.

I wouldn't mind Boyd in the squad for next season.

They may have played in the same league at one time, but that is it. Larsson was an all round footballer, Boyd, well he is just an all round. There was a time that I would have given Boyd a thought for Rovers - but not now. Now I would put Boyd on to holland's pie adverising board, with a caption saying "

eat too many of these pies and look like me.

Robbie Earnshaw is a better player than Boyd (no I am not suggesting Rovers sign Earnshaw)

Boyd has been put to most Premier League clubs...but I don't think there was any feedback about it from Rovers.

If we made any move for Boyd, Nicko would have told us. It astonishes me how people ask him the most pointless questions.

SO NOW PEOPLE ARE NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO ASK NICKO QUESTIONS

Is it my imagination or does this thread follow the same pattern every window?

1. Player Linked

2. Reaction - "He's ****, We can do better."

3. No links for a few days...

4. Further reaction - "Actually, he's pretty good."

Which is why I asked the question, Whelan's comments.

Bluffing it would seem. If he does sign you would think he is to partner Rodallega (sp) that leaves N'Zogbia, Big Club have allegedly dropped their interest so, not to many more who would bring in decent money.
