Steve Moss Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 He's also been up to Celtic for talks. Cardiff will be gutted if he goes to either as they won't get a penny. If he goes to the prem there would be a tribunal to set the fee. Which is really down to stubborn management. Ledley has had offers, and Cardiff have dismissed them all. I would be pleased if they didn't get a nickle out of the transaction. It would serve as a useful lesson to clubs that think they hold all the cards where youth is concerned. Having said that, Cardiff could help their situation if they either told Ledley's agent or other interested parties that they'd take a million or two and call it a day. From my perspective, the trouble with tribunals is you don't know what the final bill will be, which complicates budgetting.

modes98 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Bet Nicko has spent months convincing Owen that he is the next big thing
PAFELL Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 In case you missed it yeysterday, Jose on Guti...got to love the guy... "I like Guti because he has talent, but if a player said a month ago that he had played his last game for Real, he cannot come a month later and say that he wants to stay. "I like players that are committed to the club, the project, his team-mates and the coach and I don't like this doubt." Basically Jose has run out of patience with Guti. I note also Bellamy has hinted he want to leave man City and go to cardiff. Now it is my understanding that Cardiff are skint, so how could they pay his wages etc? Be good for Rovers to have bellemy back at Rovers. I think there will be a big shake up at man city this summer. But will find it hard to move players because of the wages they are on a city.
T4E Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Joe Ledley in Glasgow and Rome???? I could have sworn he was still in Charlie Adam's back pocket... Like it. I'm still amazed at the player Adam has become. When the two of them went South I would have bet my mortgage on Chris Burke turning out the better player.
nicko Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Bet Nicko has spent months convincing Owen that he is the next big thing You may recall that Owen tried to take him to Burnley about 18 months ago... Will be happy if that one goes through. Good player. May get a game in a side that plays two up front. If so... I'm still amazed at the player Adam has become. When the two of them went South I would have bet my mortgage on Chris Burke turning out the better player. Adam is a very good player if he has the time and space to show it. And if a team is built round him he is exceptional. All credit to Ian Holloway - and Tony Parkes for that matter - in spotting that potential. Bellamy is a one-off. He fancies the idea and could well make it happen. Not sure Cardiff are skint now with the new money in. but he would have to take a lot less money. However two sides of the three sides involved in the deal are up for it, so watch that space.
Roberto Policano Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Ledley to hold talks with Roma. Looks like we've missed the boat on that one. Cracking player, not surprised the likes of Roma are looking at him. An agent trying to big up his client.
doctorryan Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I really hope so. A very commited and likeable player but sadly lacking in skill and fitness. Plus he looks like the missing link.
den Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Notlob seeking talks with Chelsea/Di Santo cut price deal. ??????? He's a more gifted player than Niko. Better first touch, better in the air, quicker, stronger.
brian_gallagher85 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Shame he's as much use as Grabbi in front of goal...
Manchester Blue Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 He's a more gifted player than Niko. Better first touch, better in the air, quicker, stronger. First few times I saw him I thought he looked decent and certainly has potential, however for me Niko had a far better first touch, held the ball up much better and simply showed much more in his minutes on the pitch.
Amo Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I wish we had seen Kalinic & Di Santo given a proper crack together. As our tactics dictate, that wasn't to be. Oh well, onwards and...upwards?
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 He's a more gifted player than Niko. Better first touch, better in the air, quicker, stronger. Its all about opinions Den but Nicko does it for me over Di Santo.
tcj_jones Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Personally, I consider Kalinic to be a considerably better player than Di Santo.
Ozz Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Its all about opinions Den but Nicko does it for me over Di Santo. There's a mental image that'll keep me awake tonight.
Billy Castell Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I wouldn't be against having both, unless Chelsea ask for a load of cash but the tactics need to be altered to get the best out of either of them. Both up front may work for example, or the 4-5-1/4-3-3 is tinkered so the striker gets more support from midfield.
neophox Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Di Santo was crap....can't score...overrated... End of it.
den Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Di Santo was crap....can't score...overrated... End of it. Very thoughtful insight neophox.
ewoodpo Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Di Santo has enough chances to proove himself and failed.
super_arran Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 He's a more gifted player than Niko. Better first touch, better in the air, quicker, stronger. I agree, his overall game is better but his finishing; is not
Kelbo Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I wouldn't be against having both, unless Chelsea ask for a load of cash but the tactics need to be altered to get the best out of either of them. Both up front may work for example, or the 4-5-1/4-3-3 is tinkered so the striker gets more support from midfield. Two points here, all the top clubs, in fact most in the prem play one up top, If De Santo goes very cheaply, Chelsea dont think he can do a job such as Drogba, Anelka and Sturridge can do up front alone. At Rovers, with a poor midfield, we cant go two up front and in reality, neither can Bolton as their midfield is non too good either. Di Santo has a talent, but needs something else.
Torgeir Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I think Di Santo would make a useful squad player but I think he started to sulk after being dropped for a while, so he probably won't leave the bench at Stamford Bridge to come sit on ours. Didn't work out, good luck to him.
den Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I agree, his overall game is better but his finishing; is not Well Di Santo scored one tap in, while Niko scored two tap ins. One thing is for sure, they are both going to have to improve their scoring records and quickly, - although Di Santo is younger than Niko so theoretically has a bit more time on his side. IMO next season is a biggie for Niko. If he doesn't show improvement in the scoring department and/or all round game, he'll be through the door.
