[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

Recommended Posts

Well Di Santo scored one tap in, while Niko scored two tap ins. One thing is for sure, they are both going to have to improve their scoring records and quickly, - although Di Santo is younger than Niko so theoretically has a bit more time on his side.

IMO next season is a biggie for Niko. If he doesn't show improvement in the scoring department and/or all round game, he'll be through the door.

Niko scored a few in the cups aswell....How anyone can say Di Santo is better?

Theres no doubting he has the credentials (Di Santo) but he certainly didnt do it in Blue & White.

Di Santo scored against the Dingles though so hes a legend! :tu:

Nicko, any idea how much Tottenham would want for Giovanni dos Santos? Not sure how he has been doing for Galataseray but he had a good spell for Ipswich last season. Could be an alternative if the Guti move collapses (which it will) ;)

Mark my words guys, Di Santo will be a very good player... Hav e said many times that I belevied Kalinic and Disanto respective styles would have complimented each other.. and I for one am gutted they didnt get a proper run out together.. and I dont neccessarily mean 442, Di Santo could have played behind the front man (Kalinic) as on the ball the guy was excellent...

I live in Sydney, and saw a report on the Australian squad training in South Africa on the news last night. The reporter mentioned that it looks almost certain that Grella will sign for Gala and join up with Neill, and Kewell, who have convinced him it's the right move for him to make. Lets hope so.

Also looks like the Lewandowski is still a possibility.

I would be delighted if we managed to offload Grella, and bring in Bullard on loan, Guti on a free, and the Polich fella, along with maybe the young Cameroon left back.

Yeah them 2 would definitely be my main priority, but I guess if we are going to bring someone on a season long loan Bullard wouldnt be too bad an option if he remains fit (thats a big IF). Anything else brought into the squad would be a bonus if the right for the current ethic Sam is trying to build (mixture of youth, and experience), which is why maybe a bright youngster or 2 would be nice, but I'm not going to get too greedy or ahead of myself just yet. I also see there is reports that Gutti's agent has said the Rovers move is still a possibility, I guess they key to it, is Grella going to Gala, which looks like an almost Certainty unless he manages to get a serious injury during the world cup, and lets be honest with his track record thats certainly not completely out of the question.

He's a more gifted player than Niko. Better first touch, better in the air, quicker, stronger.

my arse he is! di santo is the worst striker/forward player i `ve seen at rovers in many years. even ashley ward/nathen blake/corrado grabbi would have netted the chances he missed, and his attempts at hold up play were shocking!

sam is not infallable and he`s clearly got suckered in by the hype of him being at chelsea in bringing him in. thankfully he`s admitted his error in releasing him back asap.

maybe we should have signed eva peron as a striker going off some posters opinions cos all argies are world class footballers eh?

I'm pretty sure this thread is purely for discussing potential summer transfers for Blackburn, and not for discussing/comparing past and present players. Unless I'm mistaken and we are making a bid for Di Santo. It's no wonder we are now onto page 234 of this thread.

The Lancashire Telegraph report that Galatasary are in for Grella and they believe that a fee has nearly been agreed between the two clubs.

And he did create the opening for Dunn's goal with a very classy bit of control. I wouldn't be against signing him permanently. Coyle is a shrewd judge of a player. I'd hate him to put one over on us.

£1.8m for grella does seem a little on the cheap side for an international midfielder even with his injury record. Would it make more sense for us to hold off until after the world cup to see if his stock rises? Surely it couldn't drop any lower lol.

Andrews was rumoured to have been the subject of a higher bid from fulham last year, surely grella is worth more than keef.

I'm not against selling him but we really need to recoup as much of the money as we can. Should be holding out for £2.5m really.

Grella wont be getting better or fitter or younger. We overpaid at 4 million Euros, but if we get close to 2 million pounds for him which would go into our coffers, Id be very happy. Cant see us getting a penny more except from a promoted club maybe.

Sell! Now! Hang on another week and he'll be injured again.

I think we have to bite the bullet and accept that we're going to have to take a massive loss on Grella. I disagree that £1.8m seems cheap - a player of his age and with his injury record is a massive gamble for any club to take. I think the club have done a great job at recouping £1.8m (supposing this fee has been agreed).

It's a shame because, while the £4m fee was quite expensive, he was a good player. I think Ince realised that we lacked bite in midfield and, had he stayed fit, he may well have become Savage's long-term replacement. Unfortunately, he's made of glass.

Can't believe people are still going on about Di Santo.

He was obviously not up to this level, I have no doubt that he will never play at this level.

I await to be proved wrong...

Here here, totally agree with you, and if people do insist talking about him , surely this is the wrong thread for it, as far as I know he is not a potential Summer transfer for Blackburn Rovers, unless I have some how managed to go back in time in a Delorean to this time last year, when he would in fact have been a transfer target. Enough said.

I understand what you mean Ricky. It's a tough decision to take.

IMO defensive midfielders of Grella's mould are hard to find for a cheap prize in todays market. IF he has a good World Cup we may be able to get more bidders on him and higher the prize.

The possibility of that happening is probably smaller than the possibility for him getting injured during the WC and we again see ourselves having problems getting rid.
