brian_gallagher85 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 That Di Santo guy would be perfect for Serie A. Have they banned goal scoring in Italy?

Steve Moss Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 read this in middle of page......hope it not true clicky click Not necessarily true. Read the last paragraph: "After all, all this had just been a dream, and the big historic game -- between Zimbabwe and Brazil -- was still to be played and would only be staged at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon." And Brazil beat Zimbabwe 3-0, with Benjani being taken off at the 54th minute, so I doubt that Sam portion of the "dream" is true.
The Rover of Finland Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Have they banned goal scoring in Italy? Hilarious. Can he go down without anyone touching? If he can, Italy it is.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 It looks like Benjani is set to sign for us then. Although I've said in previous posts that I'm not quite convinced that he will take us to the next level, I am pleased that someone so hardworking will be signing for us and I hope he will be a success with the club. I hope he isn't the "goalscorer" Big Sam has been banging on about but to see him sign for us WITH a proven goalscorer will probably please most of our fans heading into the new season.
Exiled_Rover Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Benjani? The 40 year old African bloke with dodgy knees on a fortune at City? Fantastic.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Benjani? The 40 year old African bloke with dodgy knees on a fortune at City? Fantastic. Failed a medical at City, failed a medical at Sunderland, will he fail a medical here? Man City had to negotiate down the fee for him because a medical showed something wrong/potentially wrong long term with his knees. We should be staying well clear.
The Rover of Finland Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Benjani? The 40 year old African bloke with dodgy knees on a fortune at City? Fantastic. If he is 40 then how old is Kanu? Even Lewandowski costs more than £5M these days. Experienced freebie is very natural signing within our budget. Other words, Benjani is best we can afford. Makes success in Guti hunt even more important. We have to have better midfield with these strikers.
B.R.F.C Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I live in hope that it is Boselli...although I'm expecting Benjani gah
andyroversmad Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 All the strikers in the world, even the ones on the bosman list and the best we can do is Benjani ! We already have a donkey in Roberts what's the point in wasting wages on another one.

We could bring Tomas Brolin out of retirement and you'd still be full of the joys of spring.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 We could then flog Brolin to West Ham for £2.5m to partner Benni
Brfcrule1 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I have to agree we have one donkey in roberts why do we want another in Benjani. I would rather have Beattie back than go for this clown!.
ewoodpo Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Ahead of him I would take Boyd all day long. He's a lot younger , and even though plays in a micky mouse league he would get goals. Best thing is free transfer and we'd get a sell on fee if he flopped. And The person that would rather have Beattie ahead of Benjani needs his head checking I wouldn't have either .
Fife Rover Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Maybe it's my memory getting the better of me, but I am sure it was Benjani when he played for Pompey that always managed to score against us whenever we played them. Made no difference who actually won the matches but this guy always got at least one against us in each and every meeting with them. Or am I havering again?

Made no difference who actually won the matches but this guy always got at least one against us in each and every meeting with them. Or am I havering again? He'll be paying for us, not against us, 23 goals in over a 100 Prem games, not good. We have played them 5 times during his time at Pompey, they have scored 5, that makes his ratio even worse than I thought if Fife is right. Allegedly he is on 50k a week at City.
Gally Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I don't see the point of getting Benjani and keeping Roberts. Far too similar a player and his wages may not make this deal quite as bargin basment as it seems. Despite Boyd, and even Beattie for that matter having their fair share of weaknesses, at least they'd offer us something different.
Neil Weaver Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Havering? Is that a strange Scottish habit you've picked up Fife? Careful you don't go native. Can't remember Benjani scoring against us, don't think he was there for that long actually. Maybe you're thinking of Lua Lua? Or Kanu, he never seems to score against other teams but notches against us no matter who he's playing for.
unclejack28 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Just watched the Serbia V Poland game (0-0). extremely bad conditions was pouring down, Robert Lewandowski played 85 or so minutes, some good touches, you can tell the lad has talent however couldn't do much due to the conditions.

John Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Was the B in what Nicko was referring too, Benitez sacked? Or def Rovers related (saying in hope its not Benjani!)
67splitscreen Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Was the B in what Nicko was referring too, Benitez sacked? Or def Rovers related (saying in hope its not Benjani!) Beattie, Benjani. Roberts and Kalinic frightening.
ewoodpo Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Beattie, Benjani. Roberts and Kalinic frightening. Can't see many goals in that lot that is frightening. You'd be lucky to get 20 between the four of them let alone one. Let's hope Dunny stays fit for the season.
nicko Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 The 11 o'clocker fancies an early night, so... PIQUIONNE...Fulham have agreed a fee with Lyon today of around £2 million...and seem happy to pay his wages...so they will get their man...sounds quite cheap to me...but Rovers were not keen to match the salary he wants which is about £40,000-a-week. BOSELLI...Wigan have agreed a fee of around £5.7 million tonight...they clearly fancy him...I hear he is good...possibly a miss by Rovers but out of the price range byt the sounds and the Rovers scouts have not scouted him as thoroughly as Wigan...could be a good one. BEATTIE...no word on that one. BENJANI...still hear he is top of the 'cheap striker' list. GUTI...no word, but definitely in the race...and he has not gone to Zenit.
Greedy_Crawford Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Not been on here for over a year and great to see we are still being linked with Beattie and a pub team's striker from over the border... Its all we can afford, unless the Geordie's go crazy and splash out on Roberts I'm sure young Phil Jones can take on the mantle of big Col and negate the need for a new forward, then we concentrate on sorting the midfield out
