we have players who can play there but i still feel central midfield is a weak point in our team - even tho grella hasnt turned out to be good value for money i actually felt when he was on the field we looked fair strong there - by that i mean someone who isnt afraid to tackle - we are going to miss therefore thats why i feel a tough tackling midfielder is needed to replace grella ...

if we get guti and have andrews and nzonzi and stand by that trio of central midfielders we would be struggling really bad in my opinion ..

I agree that the CM position isnt particularly strong but we need a striker and a creative midfielder more. Nzonzi, Emerton and as a replacement, Andrews would do a job as defensive midfielders, providing a base for Guti/Dunn. I realise that capturing Guti is far from a finished deal but if that was to come off then the need for another CM isnt quite as pressing.

would it not make sense, to wait until after the world cup, to sign players. Chelsea might bring in a few more strikers, which could make Sturridge, Anelka available. Its just an example, but might be the best option, to avoid the Benjani's and Beattie's that are available. Right now, we are in desperate mode at the moment.

According to reports in the press today, Pullis has said 2m or he goes in an exchange deal for Andy Carroll, to that I say send him to the barcodes.

Haleluya let the barcodes have him.

According to Strømsgodset IF's own website, we had some scouts in the stands today in their home win over Tromsø :

"A representatives of clubs who Celtic, West Bromwich Albion, Anderlect, Fulham, Everton, Hannover, BLACKBURN, Nottingham F, Heerenveen and Groeningen, to name a few, present at the stadium today"

I guess we were watching Marcus Pedersen again...He didn't score tonight but he scored twice against Hungary and one against Finland for Norway U21 last week..

Some goals...

None of your post make sense. We're in "desperate mode"? Yet you think we have a chance of signing Anelka or Sturridge? And avoid the Beatties and Benjanis?

Nico has already stated that Sturridge is very happy at Chelsea whilst there is no chance in hell we can entice Anelka from his starting XI slot at Chelsea as well as moving from a Champions League club.

We will most likely end up with Benjani, who people forget is a proven Premier League goalscorer, and A N Other from across the shores. Stay in reality iceman.

I did say just as an EXAMPLE, not that we should sign Sturridge or Anelka. I was just indicating, that if we wait, we might have a chance of landing a slightly better option than Benjani or Beattie. You talk about reality, you do know that our manager is chasing Guti, right? Point i was trying to make was, that for example, if say Man United buy a few strikers,SAF might allow Macheda out on loan. Or, Arsene buys a few players, then perhaps Vela might become available. Il say it again, if those are the only options available, then we are being desperate.

                               apps. goals.
2006–2008 Portsmouth 70 (19)
2008– Manchester City 23 (4)
2010 Sunderland (loan) 8 (0)

^ Hardly dynamite, is he?

You do realise that Real no longer want him, that he's 33 (a bit too old for the Champions League clubs) and that being a big mate of Salgado's means that this move is realistic?

So we've gone from Nicolas Anelka, a consistent Premier League goalscorer for years, to Macheda and Vela (although I certainly wouldn't say no to either of them).

Considering that about 90% of Summer transfers are done in July/August and very few deals will be done during the World Cup, I think you're overreacting a bit. We're in the first week of June. There are almost three more months before the transfer window closes. Chill.

What dont you understand, when i refer to as an EXAMPLE? ;) I am relaxed, as i did ask wouldnt it be better to wait until after the world cup. Yes Guti was released by Madrid, imo he is still good enough to get into any of the big 5 teams in England.

More like EL Tombro is blatantly misleading us on this dummy :angry2:

Correct. But he has proven that he can be dynamite previously (2007/2008 season).

Rovers are good at reviving players careers and this could be a good signing given that this would be our "cheap" one. How many players who turned out excellent for Rovers were consistent dynamite previously?

What a load of rubbish :tu:

allardyce has targets for a reason. if someone is on his shortlist they are there on merit because sam thinks he can do something with him and may know how to utilize him to get the best out of him. there is a chance these players could perform best in the system we play next season and they have struggled since they have not had that opportunity in the past few years or under current management.

i'm not saying i don't think people should show any negative emotions towards the players we have been linked with but to write them off completely is foolish. speculating should never be so damning.

If Grella goes for 2M, we have Benni's 2M +about 4m (diff between finishing 10th and 13th), that's 8M. Could be some other sales eg Roberts/Chimbonda/Zurab-----we'd have 10M+ to spend, presumably some going in Guti's wages. A few ifs i know but it does give us a chance of doing something in the transfer market for once. Makes me think we could afford Lewandowski if we really wanted him.
