[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

Yes but when the same error is pointed out several times and repeated as often as this one is it becomes so irritating as to be completely intolerable.

And why the allegations that we are thick? I personally have a languages joint honours degree and I suspect there are a lot of others out there even better qualified than me. Put simply, you can't "of" - it's not a verb. When did you last of?

There might be an 11 o'clocker to dispute that later... :D

Dispute what?

I would execpt Zurab, Reid and Judge to leave. Also think Grella will go aswell. Di Santo to go back to Chelsea.

From that we only need a defensive midfielder player to replace Grella. my choice would be Annan or Karl Herny of wolves.

A striker with pace and decide whether to keep Bastruk or not.

That's the only signings i can see happen.

The transfer budget for the summer should be okay..Sam said as long as we met our target that we'd get to keep the Benni money. That's already £2.25 million, and if we finish 10th (3 places above our budgeted finish) then we'll have an extra £750k for each place so thats about another £2.3 million.

Already we have £4.5 million if we stay 10th, then presumably one would hope the original budget at least allowed a transfer kitty of a couple of million or so, and hopefully we can raise 2-3 million in sales of squad players and obviously if we get a great offer for one of our players maybe even more...so maybe £7-8 million might be a fair estimate if we finish 10th and managed to sell a couple of bits of deadwood?

If Sam is still here next season (I keep hearing that he will step down in summer due to health issues?), and if he insists on fielding one striker, then the key positions are a proper attacking midfielder and right winger/forward, both with the legs to get forward and support the main striker. Olsson is obviously the long term answer on the left, is Hoilett good enough for the right? Who could we realistically get to play the 'behind-the-striker' role?

If Sam does leave, then let's get back to 4-4-2 please! ;)

WHERE HAVE YOU HEARD THAT FROM THAT BIG SAM IS STEPPING DOWN?

I can't see that happening because he would have already stepped down if off health issues. Think Big Sam will be at rovers for at least the next 3 years!!!

Clearly that wasn't a spelling error, obviously more a mistake. I can only put this down to my inferior keyboard skills compared to you. As for the apostrophe, :tu: , you are so clever, I wish I could be you. Prick.

This is getting amazingly childish. The Hughsey 'of' 'have' thing has been going on for ages. For those of us who like to make the effort to write and speak English properly, it's more than annoying to see others just ignore the very basics. Nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes but speak and write English as you learnt it in school.

Anyway, back to the transfers... What time is the 11 o'clocker Nicko? ;)

Depends if he remembered to put his clocks forward.

I think we can say bye bye to the following:

Brown, Zurab, Diouf, di Santo, Reid and Andrews. I would also expect a cull of some reserves such as Rigters and Judge (who doesnt appear to be in favour).

I dont think we will get rid of Roberts and I think MGP will sign his latest deal that has been offered.

Surprise sales could include the likes of Nelsen due to the emergence of young Jones. Whilst one of Chimbonda or Jacobsen could be shown the door.

I know you want Andrews out asap (you're not alone), but I think we'll have him and Diouf for another season at least. Diouf's improved in the second half of the season and Sam will keep hold of him.

Olsson's improvement has been great to watch and he did a good thing in getting him so involved in the first team, but he's been a player in and around the squad for a while now. Kalinic was just the deal going, rather than being something he pursued. I'm always a bit reluctant to give managers credit for finding players like N'Zonzi because the credit really goes to the scouting. I was of the same position with situations such as Hughes and Samba.

I do give Allardyce a lot of credit. It's great to see our form improve and the quality of football has as well, it's been good to watch. That doesn't mean that the criticism earlier in the season was wrong, if anything the fact that he has made the changes many of us were calling for and the results have improved along with them only goes to show how right we were. I said that building up to this summer and then the summer itself would be the key time for Allardyce and I'll stand by that. He needs to address the problems we have in central midfield and if he does that we have the components for a very good squad capable of consistently finishing in the top half.

More excuses and specious arguments from you Eddie to deny Sam the credit he deserves. If we beat Portsmouth convincingly 3-1, people say "but the first half was the worst I've ever seen". If we play attractively against Chelsea and Villa, people say "that's down to MacDonald cos Allardyce wasn't even there".

Its been like this all season and it will never change for some fans. The manager simply cannot win with some.

I really don't remember what you said about Hughes signing Samba and whom you gave the credit to. However there seems to be one rule in general for Allardyce and another for every other manager we've ever had. Hughes is consistently hailed as a genius on this board for the great players he found at little cost and rightly so. However when it comes to Sam its apparently the scouts who should get the plaudits. Its the manager who makes the decision and ,as far as I'm concerned, its the manager who should get the credit when it turns out right. After all that's what happened with Souness isn't it?

You cant have it both ways. On your analysis, if a signing turns out badly then logically the scouts are to blame not the manager! How ridiculous is that?

The Dindane move should be sorted very shortly. Lens will now sell at a decent price, Rovers are close to agreeing all of the bits and the player could then - surprisingly - be allowed to play for Portsmouth for the rest of the season.

Dindane needs games to keep fit and possibly appear in the World Cup finals. Lens will let him play for Pompey if they are sure he has a club willing to buy him - and they have a guaranteed sale.

It's an unusual one, but it's been a possible for some time. I think the fact you are now officially safe means it can go through because you can plan for next season.

I would think Dindane's arrival means Di Santo WON'T be back next season, but that has been looking the way for a couple of months now.

Despite the talk of 'little activity' I thin Dindane will be the first of three or four to arrive by the start of next season.
