nicko Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Any more news on Dindane Nicko???? Any rovers move for kim kallstrom from Lyon? replacement for pedersen if he goes?? Lens officials and the agent were over on Monday. The player was in for a medical on Wednesday. Big Sam was talking it up on Thursday. The two teams play tomorrow, so I suspect we will get an announcement after that... Pompey need him cleared - by Lens and Rovers - to play in the FA Cup semi next weekend. So I imagine we will see the deal done sooner rather than later.

chaddyrovers Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Thanks Nicko! Think he will be a good signing for the team. will give us the pace in the striker department that we need. Still think we need a target man tho if we play with 2 strikers, but guess we could play samba upfront if we need to!!! Any news on any other signings or interest in players?????
LeChuck Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Still think we need a target man tho if we play with 2 strikers That's never going to happen on a regular basis though. We'll play it in the odd game like this season, but 4-3-3 is going to be our primary formation. If Dindane is to be used wide in a 4-3-3 I think he could be a very shrewd signing. If he manages 7-8 goals from that position it's a huge improvement on what we've got at the moment.

There are still several strikers being watched...and left-sided midfield players. Those seem to be two key areas. The advantage just now is that you can plan ahead and probably only have those two vacancies to fill. Dindane would replace McCarthy, one more striker would be needed when Di Santo goes back - and possibly a sale of Roberts would make that more important. The left-side midfield slot is obviously a bigger priority if Morten does one. Funnily enough, watched Cardozo and Dzeko miss sitters galore last night and those were two on the horizon of many last year...probably still are. And yet Bobby Zamora, who could have been bought by anyone, outshone any other striker on show in those two games last night. Who would be a judge?
MeanGreenMachine Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Lucky we don't judge players on one game then aint it? Dindane my friggin lord what a waste of time.
LeChuck Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 The left-side midfield slot is obviously a bigger priority if Morten does one. Does Sam not see Olsson as long term in that position? I find it strange that he would look for a left winger given that Gamst has been playing centrally in most games this year.

I find it strange that he would look for a left winger given that Gamst has been playing centrally in most games this year. I can think of about three left siders who are currently being watched. Young Olsson has been a bonus, but he could yet be more of a left back than a left winger. When I say 'left wing' I should probably be more scientific and say someone who can play left of a three or a five in midfield. Maybe even a four.
chaddyrovers Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I think Chris Cohen of Notts Forest is good player and can play central midfield or left wing. He's young and will improve has time go on.
MeanGreenMachine Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 There are better players at Forest than Cohen.
Amo Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 and possibly a sale of Roberts would make that more important. It's about time. We should be cashing in whatever we can get, seeing as he's 32 with a year left on his contract.
The Rover of Finland Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I would welcome Duff back home but his is probably too high for his age. He has done very well at Fulham. They paid £3,5m to Newcastle or am I wrong? We couldn´t get him much less.

We couldn´t get him much less. We couldn't get him at all, why would he leave Fulham in their current state?
Mafioso Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Im not saying Duff should or shouldnt sign, as i would be the first to welcome him. But Fulham are 2 places below us in the league. With a game in hand but, whatever, they're not flying high. As for the run in the Europa League, we all know what happened to Boro, and many other european teams. A dramatic win against Juventus shouldnt turn Fulham into the place to be.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Same Cardozo who's scored 30 goals in 40 games for Benfica this season and Dzeko who has 23 in 38 games. Gimme Bobby any day of the week!

Balwer Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I love the fact that you think you know who is being watched. Care to share this information? Um, you do realise who Nicko is right? Alan Nixon the journalist? I think it's safe to say he's proven his reliability here a hundred times over.
Hughesy Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Charlie Adam at Blackpool one of those being watched Nicko?!
Exiled_Rover Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Oh god please tell me we're looking at a centre mid!
Ewood and I Would Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Im not saying Duff should or shouldnt sign, as i would be the first to welcome him. But Fulham are 2 places below us in the league. With a game in hand but, whatever, they're not flying high. As for the run in the Europa League, we all know what happened to Boro, and many other european teams. A dramatic win against Juventus shouldnt turn Fulham into the place to be. Yeah but currently they are set to re-qualify for next year's Europa League through the new Fair Play qualifacation system. Ironically though, if they weren't so goody two shoes (they are 1st in the PL's fair play league at the mo) we would get the place (we are 6th but the other teams above will already get into Europe through the league except Fulham)!! So hopefully they go mental and get a red in every game from now until the end of the season or something.
philipl Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Oh god please tell me we're looking at a centre mid! My reading of Nicko's post is that we are looking at someone who can play on the left side of centre mid. Is that what everyone else saw?
ewoodpo Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I love the fact that you think you know who is being watched. Care to share this information? Nicko is a legend on here pal in Nicko we trust.

AJW Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 My reading of Nicko's post is that we are looking at someone who can play on the left side of centre mid. Is that what everyone else saw? yes, left side of a 3 man midfield i thought , matty taylor ? jamie o'hara ? what about john arne riise ?
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Jamie O'Hara would be a cracking signing but he's been extremely impressive at Portsmouth this season and maybe would want the opportunity to try and get into the Tottenham side.
