[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

Im not saying Duff should or shouldnt sign, as i would be the first to welcome him. But Fulham are 2 places below us in the league. With a game in hand but, whatever, they're not flying high. As for the run in the Europa League, we all know what happened to Boro, and many other european teams. A dramatic win against Juventus shouldnt turn Fulham into the place to be.

Thats like saying Kalinic would leave us to go to Fulham. Unlikely because it is a sideways move. Only way those sort of moves happen is if

1) The buying club gets flush with money and offers massive wages

or 2) The player is out of favour or unsettled.

It is safe to say neither of these conditions apply to us and Damien Duff.

What we need is a fit Bellamy or RSC, they would score lots of goals and convert draws into wins!

On a serious note, left sided player with pace and a fit creative midfield player and we could be a top 10 team next year-will be interesting to see what Sam does.

I nearly missed the sarcasm there imy and thought you were better than that, I was about to suggest we could also do with a Rooney.

I wonder if the Dindane deal has been wrapped up today.

What you could say is "I've got my personal reservations about this transfer but since I've got everything else wrong about this manager I'll trust him for once. After all He's been a Premier League manager for many years so he must know more than me."

Think I've done a decent job evaluating the transfers and I'll back that I've seen dindane in more games than he has. On top of that I don't agree that I've been wrong about everything about him, but then again you seem to post as if you are his mother at times. Read my allardyce related comments more carefully.

I read your posts and I know what to expect. You've been asked a few times whether you would still "honestly prefer Ince" but you never respond so I guess you still do.

Read mine, I criticise Sam quite often, eg the one on the Rovers v Portsmouth game, posted an hour and a half ago. As for Dindane i thought it was the scouts who were responsible for selecting talent now that Sam is manager?

Mother of Sam? My hips are far too narrow!

Ive seen alot more of Dindane, when he has played in Cup of Nations and in Europe. He was never a goal scoring striker, with Ivory Coast using him as a midfielder or on the wings. He is quick and has some nice skill, so he might be used in that sort of role.

Wouldnt be too concerned, if Brown goes to Boro. I wonder, if that is the reason why we are after Kasper Schmeichel. I still believe, Mark Bunn would be a very good under study to Robbo. No need to waste money on a keeper, when other areas could do with that money.

Agreed. We have Bunn to deputize, who has proven himself two leagues above Schmeichel. We also have Fielding as our third choice prospect. There's really no need to purchase a new goalkeeper, particularly Kasper Schmeichel.

With Bunn here and 24 hour recalls for loans (I assume fielding will be with us next year), we should just let him go and add the contract money into the fund for other positions. It'll also free up some wages as well.

Whilst Kasper has done really well at Notts County, we have Bunn so he's not needed I hope the club see it that way as well. We have more pressing priorities than GK and we should be saving every penny for a quality signing.

I am confused, if a player is allowed to buy out the last year of his contract (lets assume Brown earns about £750K a year) that would need to be paid by either the club purchasing the player or the player themselves.

So would it not be easier to pay Blackburn Rovers FC a fee of say £500K?

It aint going to happen, unless the club selling, is willing to accept a lower fee. If its going to cost 1million, to buy out a contract, then it would be silly to settle for anything less.

What has happened to Jonjo Shelvey(is that his name?) seems like people rated the lad, but i havent heard much since. Glad we didnt go for Victor Moses, done virtually nothing thus far.

What were you expecting from Moses exactly? Same could be said for Kalanic...

On the subject of strikers prehaps we could have one who can score please?

Well, Kalinic has done better than Moses.

I like brown but not concerned about him leaving. I think he's always performed well when called upon but was never going to be more than a backup. Such is the life of a sub keeper.

Would Carlton cole be well out of our range if west ham go down?

I imagine he'll go for big money to a higher team but he looks a real player now

Aren't Arsenal rumoured to be interested in him?

I agree he would be a good buy.

If your figures are any where near accurate, what a depressing thought that the average person (around these parts) would have to work for at least 30-35 years to earn what an distinctly average keeper earns in one year.

Wow.
