With reference to Cacau & Dindane and there lack of goals, isn't it more likely that they are partners for Kalinic. The young lad has shown he can find the positions to get the ball in the net, so with another perhaps he can be the one to bang us 10+ goals next season. I'm also wondering if the two coming in means we may see at times the formation and tactics we started the season with? I just don't see the point of investing all this time in the lad to sign another for his role, I think we may see two up top a bit more next year if we can get them both. Cacau and Kalinic could be a good partnership.

Sam'a always been good at persuading players to play for him, Cacau would be a great shout. Kallstrom as well (if his contracts really up this summer).

Maji,

Whilst I dont doubt Cacau's ability, I do doubt the attitude and character of most Brazilian players, they are either brilliant or rank bad, dependant upon how they feel on the day, Robinho for oner is a great player on his day but how many good days did he have at city? Thats my reservation about Brazilians, however Cacau has been in Germany quite some time and could be different!!

Cacau isn't a prolific goal scorer either. He is more of a creative second striker. I wouldn't complain if we got him that's for sure, but I doubt we will pay him £75,000. I was reading again on the online LET how Sam wants a striker who can finish the chances we create. As everyone else has been saying, why then is he so determined to sign Dindane, who has an awful scoring record?

I would keep Roberts, strange as that may sound. I would let Di Santo go, and take Dindane and Lewandowski. Lewandowski is a young striker, while Dindane will provide the pace and Roberts the strength. If we could some how sign Ledley, and use Dindane down the right, then i think we could have a strong team.

Robbo

Salgado Samba Jones Givet

Dindane Ledley Grella/Nzonzi Olsson

Dunn

Kalinic

Cacau, left Brazil at 18/19, so he's been there about 10 years. I just can't see him having the same sort of attitude as them, so am hopeful he wouldn't come with an enigma approach. They like hard-working players in Germany as well, so I guess he puts it in since he's been there 10 years, I'm pretty confident he'll also have good technique, since most Brazilians do. If we have a chance to get him I'd like to think we'd try and he'd be a good buy? But I'm not sure whether he's a lone striker type of player?

Is that the figure being banded around in the press, then? Thats crazy money for his track record, 40-50K at most since there is no fee.

I don't get my head round Dindane either?? I can only assume that Roberts wants out and he's like for like. Hopefully spending the summer with Drogba, means he finds his shooting boots as I'd rather play Hoillet up there if its pace and poor shooting we want.

We do need a player who can bag double figures, since we won't get much higher without one. But a player who can score double figures will cost serious money and since it seems the TV money is already gone? And apparently we only have the Benni money plus place money above budget, so I guess its beggars can't be choosers. Cacau on 50K or so, would surely be covered, by Reid and Benni's wages coming off the bill.

Eddie, do you know if Kallstrom of Lyon is out of contract this summer? Is he still any good?

£75K a week! We are in a recession, those are crazy figures! Is he worth twice Dindane who wants £35K a week? I would rather we bought Dindane and use the £35K on signing a quality central midfield player in Ledley.

Despite Kalanic looking the part at times, im still not convinced by him. He has the Berbatov syndrome of trying to do the wonderful rather than the easy option and he could have been arrested for some of his misses this season, they have been criminal. I don't think he will ever been on to knock 15 goals a season in, i think just breaking into double figures will be his limit which puts the wide fowards under pressure to chip in with the goals.

Thats why im still baffled as to why we are interested in Dindane who has proved he is quick but absolute garbage.

just because he appears `absolute garbage` in a crap team that attempts to play pretty, pretty football and gets hammered most weeks, doesn`t mean he`d be crap in a team that plays the game in a more direct physical fashion. it may be that he suits our style to perfection.

trust in sam and what he`s trying to do.

So whats the excuse through his career then?

Erm but neither score that often...

Dindane has a record of 3 games per goal ratio over his career.

Cacau has a record of 3.37 games per goal ratio over his career.

Thats rough from what i gathered off wiki.

Surely we should be looking to sign a striker who can score goals, somthing we don't have.

And from where exactly are we going to generate the sum required to sign a striker who scores a goal every 2 games???

Instead of criticizing why don't you name a target who meets your requirements within our budget??

Anyone interested in Joe Ledley of Cardiff, can do so now, live on BBC 2.

A good player. hope Big Sam has sent a scout to watch him or yimself watching him. Another player who is playing in that game who is worth a look is Chris Cohen of Forest. Good left foot and could be a replacement for Pedersen if he leaves!!!

I agree with that. Big Sam knows the budget he's got to spend. So he's is looking at players who he can afford to bring to the club. I think Sam will sign no more than 4 players in the summer, 2 strikers, defensive midfielder to replace Grella who is injured prone, a winger if pedersen leaves or a goalscorer midfield player.

I think the point would be at least go for someone who might be able to do it, not someone who has shown that they can't? Dindane really is a bit pooh.

Does anyone on here know the budget?

Does anyone on here know the market in depth?

Does anyone on here know our exact wage structure?

Has anyone on here been around the world, scouted players from around the globe?

In short no, if i did have that knowledge then no doubt id be a football scout.

From what we can gather, Dindane looks to be brought in for around 2million which is criminal considering how crap he has been at Portsmouth. If he is to be brought in as a 'wing forward' id rather stick with the current bunch and involve Junior more. If he is being brought in as another centre foward then SA should be shot, infact id rather stick with Roberts.

This all makes me laugh a bit. 'Dindane is poo', 'Dindane is useless', 'Dindane isn't worth 2 million' etc etc... I think I'll wait until he turns up, IF he turns up, and watch him play then judge. IF we buy him, Big Sam will have decided he is good enough at the price. We shall see A.) IF he turns up and B.) when we actually get to see him, shan't we?

Mick MaCarthy just said Ledley has just had an operation on his hips, if so, i'd have thought Rovers or anyone else would keep away well away from the player.

I know hes coming back from injury but so far there is nothing to suggest hes a patch on Morten Pederssen, absolutely none.

Don't be daft,CI. They'll all have played him on Football Manager, so they know what they're talking about ... :P

Mr Roversmum rates him, and he's never forgiven JW for not signing Bobby Zamora :D

Because I can only judge a player when he is wearing blue and white? Can't judge him having seen him probably 5 times this season for Portsmouth (matches in full) and a good 30-40 times playing in France?
