Olympiakos offers MGP a 25k/week contract. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Olympiakos-offer-Blackburn-star-Morten-Gamst-Pedersen-25-000-a-week-summer-deal-article384233.html

Per the article, we can't or won't match that figure. Is that right Nicko? If so, kudos to the board for showing some sense.

If all ped's wants is 25K a week then sign him up, thats a bargain for a player of his experience and talents.

Sad comment on the Prem today but agreed wholeheartedly. Although I suspect the agents have put this out to start a bidding war.

One thought on Nicko's story yesterday, Nicko got the Argentine who Rovers moved early for last summer absolutely right. Here's hoping ths one follows the same pattern.

Our inability to match £25k a week?? I doubt it very much!!

Ditto. That would indicate that Pedersen is on LESS at the moment, which would make no sense. If likes of Pedersen earn £1M/yr, where on earth our £50M/yr budget is blown on?

Isn't the general view of fans on here that Pedersen is on 40000 a week?

No-one seemed to really complain about Benni, picking up 35 odd grand a week, with his spasmodic performances since his one and only year with us. I'd happily pay ped's around 35K a week, given what we were getting for our money with Benni. In fact it even seems cheap.

On the Argie, can't say I've heard too much I just find it surprising that if he's such a talent why at 24 is he still in Argentina? Most talented SA players get snapped up much younger. SA players haven't done overly well in the UK, which surprises me given that SA football is almost violent at times, its physical and quick like the prem. He seems to have started scoring well at his club with an almost 1 in 2 record, but he has got Veron playing behind him and despite what he did here that lad has talented feet. Don't under estimate what a difference having Veron behind him would make, he has great vision and passing ability. Personally I'd like the Pole Lewdonaski (Sp), sign him, market it right and we could get some more fans, there's an awful lot of Polish people in the UK.

I don't think the Pedersen figures are correct. There is no way he has been offered LESS than 25k a week at Rovers. The Greeks could maybe go to that figure, but he will be on more than that already...

So that would be strange.

Wouldn't that be £25k at Rovers compared to £25k tax free in Greece?

I thought as much....much more!

25k is nothing for a prem player so that story is complete crap!

Bazzanotso - Sure is!

I'm surprised nobody else picked up on the article saying Derbs shone in the champions league this season (or something to that effect), when didn't he only play once, and got sent off???

The ped story is also on the bbc gossip page with palermo etc. mentioned as well.

I would imagine Morten's wages will be about 30k-a-week basic. He has been at the club a long time so is possibly behind some of the bigger earners.

If he is staying he would probably want to get a decent rise.

I believe Rovers have offered him a rise...it's up to him whether he thinks it is enough.

I don't think the Greeks will be offering him any more than he is on or has been offered.
