Wouldn't that be £25k at Rovers compared to £25k tax free in Greece?

Good point.

However with the current state of the greek economy...that could change in an instant.

I would imagine Morten's wages will be about 30k-a-week basic. He has been at the club a long time so is possibly behind some of the bigger earners.

If he is staying he would probably want to get a decent rise.

I believe Rovers have offered him a rise...it's up to him whether he thinks it is enough.

I don't think the Greeks will be offering him any more than he is on or has been offered.

It might not be a money thing Nicko...maybe he fancies a change and perhaps a couple of years in the sun, full house every week(mental fans), champions league, etc, etc....compare that to half empty stadium, shyttie weather, mid-table...etc.

Thanks Nicko.

If thats all he's on, then we should really sign him up. Small raise (is 5K a week considered decent?) and performance based incentives to boost it nearer what he wants provided he performs and surely all parties would be happy.

Curiously if Gamst does leave, do you think it will it be two strikers and a gamst replacement, or one striker and a gamst replacement? Since it would mean two players for the first 11.

I do wonder if the club still aim to cut 5 million of the wage bill? Given we have Benni gone, Reid seemily off, Kish quite possibly, Brown as well we'll be hopefully losing some serious money off the wage bill. With the new TV deal coming in however, surely we can aford to stay as we are, budget wise for now?

Maybe the superb Olsson could be a ready made Gamst replacement?

Exactly. If Pedersen is going we have Olssen and both Dunn and Doiuf and even Hoilett who can play there if necessary. Use the 40 grand a week on a central midfielder.

But Gamst isn't in the main playing left wing any more, he's left side of a midfield three and I can't say I've seen Olsson or Diouf play that role.

If anything we need a back-up/replacement for Dunn. Despite his great early season form, he's dropped off a bit now (still scoring though), but he's only played 50% of our games. We need someone who can play this role, since our whole tactics are now based around it. We were that desperate at some stages we even tried Benni in the role, but even if Gamst leaves or not we have a great hole in our squad we need someone for the other 50%.

We have three roles in our midfield:

Sitter 1st choice Vince, 2nd N'zonzi

Box to Box 1st Gamst, 2nd Julie

Hole player 1st Dunn, 2nd NOTHING.

Basturk's not up to it, Brett is playing/covering the wide positions again. Reids leaving and then if you add in Gamst we would need 2 central players, 1 of whom must be a 1st choice. Two strikers wanted as well, and in an ideal world a left back so Olsson becomes a permanent left winger.

People on here do realise that with the meagre funds we have again this season to spend will most likely mean we sign a central player to replace gamst who will be a gamble, so since the gamble will need time to acclimatize (Kalinic took over 6 months) who does everyone think will be playing Gamsts role, Keith most likely.

So its really simple pay Gamst 5-10K a week more or watch Keith start most games for the majority of next season while our new boy adapts, if at all.

Not much of a choice is it? Watch Pedersen slide back to mediocrity with his contract secure, or watch Andrews who is just not good enough. Is there no option 3? Please??

£40k could get us a decent experienced central midfielder. Less than £40k would get us Stephen Hunt from Hull.

Option 3 is to stop jumping to conclusions and see what Sam does in the transfer window.

After outlaying the £7m they were asking for him. That may drop to £4m or so now if they are in the Championship however. But still, it's not like for like unless he's coming on a free.

We need a massive injection of talent in centre mid. That's with or without Gamst staying (and I'd rather his wages were spent on someone better to be honest).

I know Pedersen is playing more centrally but he isn't doing it very well. To say the least he is inconsistent. You have 2 midfielders listed as "box to box" players---they are Pedersen and Andrews! To quote Wellington or was it Cromwell? "I don't know what effect they have on the enemy but, by God, they terrify me". We've had Pedersen for 6 years now so nothing is going to change so time to let go. Nothing lasts forever.

Guti's legs have gone.He cannot play 90 minutes for Real any more.Cannot see him being much use to premiership teams.

They said the same about Salgado last year as well. With Sam's track record of signing EX-Madrid stars I think we would be in with a chance.

Guti and Dunn covering the hole role, would be great for Rovers. Guti's hardly been sat on the bench all year and has played a part for madrid, his vision and passing would be great in our midfield.

Ive seen enough of Guti to know he is not 'crap', its funny how they were prasing him the other week on sky, saying how he only plays a fleeting role these days but has been in impressive form in his free role behind the striker.

And warned us about Salgado? After a sticky first few months he has been fantastic.

You sure told us...

Guti is not the kind of player for the Premiership. I've never liked him, but his game adjusts far better to la Liga; he's weak, doesn't play defense at all and loses his head quite often. You wouldn't like him.

And Salgado - fantastic? Are you serious?
