Guti is not the kind of player for the Premiership. I've never liked him, but his game adjusts far better to la Liga; he's weak, doesn't play defense at all and loses his head quite often. You wouldn't like him.

And Salgado - fantastic? Are you serious?

We're a mid table Premiership team currently going through a rebuilding programme, Salgado has brought a wealth of experience to our squad and is improving with every performance. He's enjoying his time at Blackburn and I for one am enjoying him playing for us.

As for Guti? Bring him in now! A signing like that could help us shift a few more season tickets and possibly attract other players to us.

Yes, actually. He had a slightly dodgy start but he's really becoming a favourite with the fans. You only do that by being Grabbi or being someone who works very hard and makes an impact. Salgado is the second.

We have a different idea of how a mid table team should improve. I say sign primarily youngsters with ambition and will to work hard, rather than footballers long past their prime looking for a last contract and an experience abroad.

And Guti, I never liked him. He's envious, soft, and can't keep his head cool when neccessary. Plus he's a party animal. He won't look for a house in Blackburn if he moves there, he will settle in a nightclub instead.

We have signed many up and coming youngsters who are now breaking through the ranks. We also require quality experienced players to improve our midfield.

As for nightclubs, one night out in Blackburn and he'll be soon looking for a house.

Yes, I agree that a bit of experience is needed. But I doubt Guti is the correct role model. He's the type of person that, if doesn't get playing time, starts complaining and creating problems. When Real Madrid was eliminated from the Cup earlier in the season against a very very weak side (second division equivalent in England) he lost his head and during the game started to act really aggressive and deserved a red card. The coach saw that and subbed him, so Guti reacted against the coach and as a result was "punished" and didn't play for several weeks. His relationship with the coach was almost non existent.

If that's the case we just got rid of Fat Benni, we don't need another trouble maker!

Guti isn't the player we should be looking for in my opinion. He would command a role behind the striker with limited defensive responsibilities - a luxury role. He's one of the most skillful players in Europe, and on his day he's a worldie - but those days won't come often for a club like Rovers. We have David Dunn and Yildiray Bastürk in similar roles, and although they are not on the same level- they are both better suited to playing for us. And yes, I realize Bastürk hasn't played yet- but he's a hard worker, that's my point. If we're going to buy a luxury player, it should be a striker who can do things on his own..

The question is who would look best in the new red & black away kit? B'stard, Dunny or Guti?

Guti isnt the type of player I want to see us sign in future....we need to continue to look at the younger lads - lads that will only progress and grow to be even better players. No more 30+ players please!

That's stupid - we can't just sign young players all the time, there needs to be a mix. I wouldnt like to see us paying many transfer fees for 30+ players but how old was Tugay when he signed for us?

Depends what kind of money Guti is looking for. I wouldn't like to see us trying to accommodate another high-earner when that money could invested in someone younger.

Tugay was a 1 off.

Nowadays you dont find many of his talent for the sort of deal we got.

The best way for our club is to buy young & talented, polish the diamond & then sell on in 3 years for big money! We cannot afford players that have no sell on value!

Absolutely no reason to post this other than to stoke the flames from last summer!

"Occasionally we do go into the transfer market for mature players," insisted Ferguson. "[Dimitar] Berbatov was 27 when he came to us but you have to ask yourself if when a 27-year-old fulfils his contract for five years he will have little resale value."

The Argentinian and Polish lads we're linked to fit in nicely with this ethos...hopefully SAF was reiterating to FSA the importance of resale value at the races. :)

I don't know if that's true. I f you are a passer rather than a runner you can last for years longer - look at paul Scholes. We could do with someone like that, and if Guti can offer it?

Who's to say how Guti would be away from the manic world of Real Madrid. So he's a bit hot headed, savage, todd and all the others we've had over the years mainly still fondly remembered. For some of our youger attack minded players playing and training alongside someone with his ability can only be good for their development. It may also push Dunn more as well and he'd certainly be better than droppinga striker back in there. Guti would be looked up to by most at rovers, just like Tugay was and that may mean his antics, subside. If not and he's that much of a party animal he can keep Diouf company on his travels.

Basturk??? Well from those who've been to watch him in the Ressies he hardly seems to impressed much at that level, it was worth a punt. With a lad like Dunn (breaks easily) you'd think that given he's the only other hole player we have he'd at least of made a couple of appearances from the bench. Don't see it working out for him at Rovers.

As much as I advocate youth we still need experience, we don't have the funds to go out and sign the best young players in the world. We take a lot of chances in the market, so there's no harm playing it safer once in while.

We can if we're just paying their wages surely?

Your policy is all very well but it assumes that every player we find will be a diamond and that every player will have a resale value higher than what we paid. Will we sell Kalinic for more than what we paid? If I was a betting man I'd probably say more likely than not, however it's far from nailed on - he needs to start scoring more in the next season or two for that to happen.

Sam's trademark at Bolton was signing 30+ players on free transfers and getting their spark back again so Tugay wasn't a one off as we have a manager who's done it at other clubs. We need a mix of experience and youth, not a team packed full of players who are just promising.

I know we have been linked with him a fair ammount, but I missed the match, anyone know if he have a good game (I know he scored but all round)?

I don't think he was there. Last time I spotted him he was in the winner's enclosure at Aintree and seemed quite 'established' there.
