Tugay was a 1 off.

Nowadays you dont find many of his talent for the sort of deal we got.

The best way for our club is to buy young & talented, polish the diamond & then sell on in 3 years for big money! We cannot afford players that have no sell on value!

While it is a one off us getting the god that is Tugay.. Sam is rather renown for getting in these sort of players..

Jay-Jay Okocha (Free from Paris Saint-Germain, July 2002)

Youri Djorkaeff (Free from Kaiserslautern, February 2002)

Ivan Campo (Free from Real Madrid, July 2003)

I really would not be shocked if we landed another similar this close season.. hell he tried for RVN last lol

I don't think he was there. Last time I spotted him he was in the winner's enclosure at Aintree and seemed quite 'established' there.

Hmm strange.. I know he was def at the Bayern match watching manu.. but my mate was pretty sure it was him there at the pool match as well.

Does it sound like we're pushing hard for a bargain or Lens are over pricing him? I fear the latter given that Portsmouth would have to pay £4 million if he played another game.

The Portsmouth 'bid' has gone. They have no money.

So Rovers have to decide whether to buy him now - cheaply - or perhaps see him go to the World Cup and get a bigger club willing to pay more.

We've been down this road before with haggling over fees. Some you win, some you lose.

It's not reached a stand-off point within the club yet, but that space may need to be watched.

To quote a Pompey S/T holder i know "He would be ok for someone like us next season, not a club like Blackburn". Sounds like she has a high opinion of him.

I wouldnt have him at all, but if Sam has his heart set on him, set a price and stick to it i say, i can't see him pulling up any trees in SA.

Any more transfer news yet Nicko?

Please don't be like this all summer, you'll really get on everyone's nerves.

You've been here long enough to know that Nicko will post info when he gets it, and questions about 11 o'clockers are pointless.

Edit: Oh, and thanks for the reply Nicko.

Read today Guti is leaving Real in the summer.

SIGN. HIM. UP!

Why would you want to sign a player on £50,000 a week with a 500k signing on fee who can only play 45 minutes before being totally knacked.

For the 200k monthly salary you are paying Salgado do you Rovers fans think he has actually been worth that?.

Will the 50% tax rate continue after your General Election if a different party wins it?

That 50% rate must be giving many Premiership chairman nightmares.

Sorry what? You mean the 3 day old 50% tax rate,on income over £150,000? I am not sure what constitutes a nightmare in Milan, but I don't think this qualifies in England. Players who want to play here will still earn ridiculous salaries and most Premier League club chairmen will sleep perfectly well at night, as most of them will generate their own income via a myriad of tax minimising strategies and who probably pay proportionately less tax than the rank and file amongst us here. For example I believe the Rolling Stones have paid an average of about 6% tax, or some equivalently low figure, by basing themselves in the Netherlands.

Usually Dida getting the goalkeepers gloves.

I have been told your government has closed alot of the loopholes regarding tax breaks?.

I know players set up off-shore accounts regarding image rights etc,but was just wondering how easy it is to avoid P.A.Y.E tax in England.

Nice call on Dida!

I misinterpreted your earlier comment a bit I think. Yes I think they have closed a lot of the tax loopholes off in a lot of instances, but I believe that the super rich will still find ways to pay less tax than they have to. I work for a financial services company for examples that 'advises' a Luxembourg based fund, and our board meets in Jersey.

For the players I don't think this will make a huge impact on them coming here or staying here because they are likely in most cases to earn more here.

Of course, I think if the offers are similar for a player between here and another country that has a much lower tax bracket then it could impact them moving, but I think the tax rise will impact on other industries moreso than footballers. Just my opinion of course, and we don't know if the tax raise will stay in place in a month's time.

Is CARDOZO possible, or is he too old / expensive?

Too expensive, definetly.

Benfica want €20 million for him or more.

He is 26, almost 27, has scored 31 goals for Benfica this season and he is probably going to be a first team option for Paraguay in the World Cup, which make his price rise even more, if he scores some goals there.

Yes. I'll post some info at 11 o'clock. Don't miss it, it's earth shattering.

I've been waiting 40 minutes where the hell are you?

It's Luca Toni isn't it, I knew it!

Guti would be great, him and Dunn could switch playing in the 'hole' as Guti is aging and Dunn is injured a lot. Who cares if he likes to party as long as he delivers the goods...His wages might be a stumbling block though.

Do you think we'll make any loan signings next season? Ramsey, Obertan, Fran Merida or Vela could all do a job, no? Anyone know how Giovanni dos Santos has been playing for Galatasaray? He had a decent spell at Ipswich last season I think.
