Dindane did something brilliant to win that cup semi-final for Pompey. In added time, late on, he ran at Spurs defence and took them on winning his side a penalty and thereby winning the match. One thing for certain, he's fit because it was so late in the game in added time. He ran a fair old distance too... I'd like a player like that playing for us.

All true but his return pass to Piquionne just before was ....... urm!...... pretty poor. ;)

Does anyone know for fact, how he got to play today?.

Can someone explain how Dindane was allowed to play today, I thought we had to buy him before he could play for Pompey again due a clause meaning they would have to buy him after X amount of appearances...

Does the FA cup not count in that clause?

The amount of games to trigger the clause has been purely speculation. I don't think Dindane, Pompey or Lens has actually said anything. But since he hasn't played in the league, it must be very near of being triggered. Some say that this was the last game he could play in, but if I were Grant, I would've left one game "unused" for the final.. who knows.

Come on, you are not telling me a player wouldn't move any contractual barrier if he really wanted to play at Wembley?

I will be very surprised if Grant is unable to pick from whoever is currently available/registered at Wembley.

Pretty sure today was his 20th in all comps, 17 L ,1 CC, 2 FAC.

If the clubs have an agreement that 20 or 21 or whatever games makes the transfer permanent for £4M, the player can, if he chooses so, nullify the agreement?

The player through his agent will have negotiated something and it was in everybody's interest to do so.

At the end of the day, Charleroi decided they would act like complete clowns and hold Bosman to the letter of his contract and look where that got us. Lens are hoping to get £4m for Dindane ideally and the likelihod is that will only arise from enforcing the contract on Pompey. Pompey would only be in a position to do that if the administrator honours the deal and Pompey are bought. Pompey are more likely to be bought if they get to the Cup Final. Failing Pompey buying him, Lens want Dindane in the shop window... like two appearances at Wembley.

So in this case, irrespective of what the contract says, it made sense to append a clause or two.

Yesterday Andronikou told that the clause is still active, and there isn't (yet) any agreement to cancel the clause, but I assume you have some newer information on the matter?

"We suffer a 'bullet' payment of £4 million the moment Dindane plays 22 games. He has one game to go before I cannot allow him to play again. He's been on one game less for a while now, and Avram has been saving him for this game.

"Dindane has missed about three games, but will be able to return for the FA Cup semi-final, but I can't permit him to play again, unless we can find a solution with his club, Lens, and I am sure they will be open to negotiations, but it won't include payments of this kind."

One player I would love to see in our side is Tom Huddlestone. Fantastic passer of the ball who would get the best out of Olsson and Hoilett. We don't have many (any?) midfielders who can spot a pass.

He has been a regular starter whole season. Not realistic. Gary O´Neill is actually only midfielder from England who is good enough and realistic as financialy. How about stealing Tom Cairney from Hull? I´ve seen him only once and he scored against Everton. He looked promising.

Jimmy Bullard is also interested case. We all know his injury history but he is also a very good player and just the player we need. Hull could release him much lower than they paid. His wages are high for a championship club that´s for sure. £2M would be tempting price, would it?

It was in the press the other week - that it was 1 more than Pompey originally believed (in other words they saved him for the semi) - so he had 1 appearance left.....whether or not he gets a re-worked deal now, we will see.

Bullard???

No thanks! Injury prone, no point finally getting shut of Reid to replace him with Bullard!!
