The Rover of Finland Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I would hate us not to try for O'Hara, we are all aware of what has been said in the media recently, in an ideal world he goes back and plays but Harry has, Krancjar, Huddlestone, Palacios, Modric, Jenas, Bentley and even Rose. Spuds tend to play a 4 in MF, can't see him being guaranteed a starting role, which is what he wants, I think he has 2 years to run on his contract. Any guesses what he would go for. Didn´t he sign new contract last summer. He would be massive boost for our midfield. Another loan is possible but they won´t sell him I think. Especially if they sign Eidur permanently. He can play attacking midfielder as well as striker. And Spurs signed that young Brazilian talent too. Great player but hardly coming to Ewood. He maybe would but it´s not up to him.

He would be absolutely fantastic for us, but I can't see it happening.

A bit more checking reveled he did indeed sign a new four year deal last year guess that puts another couple of mill on his head. Break the bank for him, he's English after all and only 23. NOTW had him as a target for Newcastle at the weekend, possible as low as 3m, I doubt that but around 5m would be a great buy IMO.
The Rover of Finland Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9-Pierre_Gignac Wasn´t this guy linked to us once? I would like.
Muddboy Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 According to various reports today, Sam is going to make a move for Tal Ben Haim. Surely that's a wind up...
unluckymorton Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 According to various reports today, Sam is going to make a move for Tal Ben Haim. Surely that's a wind up... Ben Haim has been linked to us a couple of times since Sam has been here. It's easy for the press to link ex players with managers. I don't think there will be too much truth in it, he'll be more concerned about bolstering the midfield and attack with any left over cash being spent on young players.
Hughesy Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 According to various reports today, Sam is going to make a move for Tal Ben Haim. Surely that's a wind up... Sounds like the normal annual link that the lazy journos do at this time of the year to me....he gets linked to ben Haim, Nolan & Davies every season!

The Rover of Finland Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Sounds like the normal annual link that the lazy journos do at this time of the year to me....he gets linked to ben Haim, Nolan & Davies every season! But EHD is here, isn´t he? Managers have their favourite players but this sounds like lazy journalism. We have absolutely no use for Ben Haim.
unluckymorton Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 But EHD is here, isn´t he? Managers have their favourite players but this sounds like lazy journalism. We have absolutely no use for Ben Haim. Yes Diouf is here but he's the only one of his ex players that Sam has actually made a bid for. As far as I'm concerned Ben Haim wouldn't be at the top of Sam's list at the moment, I doubt he's on Sam's list at all.

LeChuck Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 We were in absolutely desperate need of a right winger after Emerton's long term injury last January, so buying Diouf made sense. Ben Haim makes no sense at all, I can't believe there is an ounce of truth in it. Only way it could begin to make sense to me is if we can ship out Chimbonda for a similar fee. I'd quite happily swap Ben Haim for him (indirectly of course).
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 We all know that we sell our best players for a big profit and then we have to replace them with a fraction of it. Perhaps there is some solid interest in Samba, so the press think that Ben Haim might be a target?
Valois Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Joe-Ledley-of-Cardiff-targeted-by-Stoke-and-Blackburn-article391563.html Linked with Joe Ledley of Cardiff City. Looks like he is out of contract at the end of the season. I guess if Cardiff fail to come up this year, he will be looking to leave. From what I have seen and heard he's ok. Nicko have you hard much in regards to this? Any news on the young Greek lad, Anestis Argiriou we had on trial? I know we had sent someone to watch him play in a league game at the weekend against Olympiakos and his team got beat 2-0. Also any news on the 3 young Danish guys - Jeppe Kirk, Mads Aagaard and Anders Thomsen who have been on trial the last week?
Hughesy Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Mirror on Ledley Stoke and Blackburn are leading the chase to sign Cardiff winger Joe Ledley. West Ham have joined Wolves and Newcastle in the race to sign Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara, who is currently on loan at Portsmouth. £5m being the valuation Full story: Daily Mail

unluckymorton Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Sam wanted Kev Davies in the summer, according to Nicko. Nicko is a tabloid journalist, all the tabloids linked us with Davies. If he had gone for Davies and signed him it could well have been a good move for us but how much truth was in it? No firm bid was made by Rovers, if we really seriously wanted to sign him we'd have put a bid on the table. As far as I'm concerned there is no sense in going for Ben Haim. Samba doesn't look unsettled or on his way out to me so I think it's just paper talk and agents trying to manufacture moves. We'll be linked with Anelka next...
BPF Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 We'll be linked with Anelka next... Big Sam Wants Big Name - Anelka
unluckymorton Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Big Sam Wants Big Name - Anelka Brilliant! I nearly fell off my chair when I saw your link!!!
LeChuck Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Ledley would be a brilliant signing. As he's on a free, his wages can be paid for (and them some) by letting Pedersen go. Everyone's a winner. It's just one of those deals that makes so much sense that you know it will never happen. Ledley will go somewhere else, be worth £8-£10 million in a years time and we'll be stuck with MGP.

Well according to todays LT - We have gone back to MGP with a 2nd contract offer...hopefully our final offer - so maybe we will see a conclusion soon! Either he signs, or states he's off!

Either he signs, or states he's off! There is room for both at the club as they're capable of playing central and on the left, Ledley can even play at left back. Ideally Ledley would be MGP's replacement though, leaving us space to get in another midfielder.
Amo Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Big Sam Wants Big Name - Anelka About two weeks overdue. Well according to todays LT - We have gone back to MGP with a 2nd contract offer...hopefully our final offer - so maybe we will see a conclusion soon! Either he signs, or states he's off! Sam puts too much stock in that long throw of his.
Hughesy Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Sam puts too much stock in that long throw of his. Sign Aron Gunnarson from Coventry then!
