unluckymorton Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I hate when people give it the "Nicko have you heard anything regarding...etc etc" But....Nicko have you heard anything regarding the Andrews incident at the weekend? I heard he tarmaced somebodies drive and a puddle has formed, they took the opportunity to tell Andrews how disappointed they were when he was substituted on Saturday.

unluckymorton Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Can you elaborate? I don't know what this refers to, I was away all weekend. It's all on the Keith Andrews thread.
MarkBRFC71 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 He's actually been very poor defensively this season according to my Liverpool fan - mates! Who recon he's worth about 8 million.. they seriously over paid! Same here, Liverpool fans where I work think they vastly overpaid and he is hopeless defensively. They're even more annoyed that they let Arbeloa go relatively cheaply and he's had a great season at Madrid.
47er Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Well this may be a hostage to fortune comment but with some players you can just see the talent ouse out of them and Robert Lewandowski is one of those players. I read an earlier post comparing him to Shearer and my immediate knee jerk reaction was you're having a laugh but having thought about it I can see the comparison. At the same stage of their development they look pretty similar but I'd say Shearer had more muscle and Lewandowski has more balance, but that's it, the rest looks pretty much the same. Both have that sense of mischief about their play and seem to love not just scoring goals but showing up the oppos at the same time. I like the look of this guy big time. Get him on a four year contract asap. He'll become as good for us a Shearer was, not a clone of the player obviously but he'll have the same step change effect on the team and club. If this move comes off and we strengthen even modestly in other areas then boy oh boy we'll have some squad next year. You've got me worried there. If you can see the talent ousing out of him why should we buy him?
Hughesy Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Heard it last night. Extraordinary. Anything interesting happen following that? Any chance he has put a transfer request in?!?
Iceman Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Cacau wants an absolute fortune...he is unlikely to be getting it from Blackburn Rovers. At the moment he is well down the list. Nicko, why would Cacau indicate its not about the money but you believe he wants a fortune? Does he want more than we are willing to offer, or does he just want more than what Stuttgart are offering?
67splitscreen Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 18th with £85M/yr turnover. And we have, what £50M/yr? Well a big chunk goes on the lease of their stadium which they sold in 2002, 13 million Euro per annum, also their player contracts are heavily loaded with performance bonuses. More here if you want a read. Share holders meeting Nicko, why would Cacau indicate its not about the money but you believe he wants a fortune? Does he want more than we are willing to offer, or does he just want more than what Stuttgart are offering? Someone on here last week said after speaking with Salgado it was all about money.
nicko Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Nicko, why would Cacau indicate its not about the money but you believe he wants a fortune? Does he want more than we are willing to offer, or does he just want more than what Stuttgart are offering? Cacau is looking for silly money from all interested clubs. He has obviously not got any takers. So now he is pleading innocence and looking to stay where he is.
Iceman Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Andy Carrol Not sure if its been mentioned already Jose Callejon
Ewood and I Would Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I don't know much about the chap, but his profile and goals record looks good and he has been watched several times. And if the worst comes to the worst he could also be quite handy if there is a problem with the plumbing. I heard he tarmaced somebodies drive and a puddle has formed, they took the opportunity to tell Andrews how disappointed they were when he was substituted on Saturday. Don't you just love how overt racism is accepted on these boards but the mob come out and shout down anyone who has the temerity to question one of nicko's stories.

MeanGreenMachine Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Is there only me not too excited about this Polish kid. 4/5million who has been popping them in, in the polish league. It just smacks of the Janko near miss and the Kalanic mistake, 'the future of croation football' . http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11681_6084259,00.html One year to run on his contract, id be giving it serious consideration. We need a proper hold up man, he would do the job and then some.
LeChuck Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 There would be clubs in better financial circumstances than us after Zamora. Anyway, this is really only his first good season at the age of 29. He could easily go back to how he was for the previous 10 seasons. He very nearly joined Hull last summer, Fulham weren't bothered about letting him go.
TimmyJimmy Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 You've got me worried there. If you can see the talent ousing out of him why should we buy him? boom boom
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Is there only me not too excited about this Polish kid. All depends on where Sam was to play him. If we don't improve the midfield, or stick with the same tactical decisions (long balls up to a lone striker and no support) then its a pointless signing. Better off signing a big man like Janko or a Zigic if Sam has no desire to change anything.

Dont think Rovers are in the financial position of getting that ready made top quality forward we all crave for, so a young kid with an already impressive goalscoring record must be worth more than a try, plus he does seem to have the physical attributes required.

Bur surely the fact we're being linked with Lewandowski and Boselli isntead of Zigic and Janko indicate Sam's thinking of changing the mantra?
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Bur surely the fact we're being linked with Lewandowski and Boselli isntead of Zigic and Janko indicate Sam's thinking of changing the mantra? You would think so and I hold out hope, but there is no guarantee. Don’t really want to slate our play as it’s not the thread for that, but it’s vital we sign the right players for the right tactics.
modes98 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 the Kalanic mistake, 'the future of croation football' What Kalinic mistake would that be? When he has been played in a role that suits his game he performs very well. You can't critcise him when we are using him as a targetman, because he isn't that kind of player. His technique seems very good, just needs to move his shots an inch to the other side of the post and he'll hit double figures every season. By all means get a targetman in and use Kalinic to play off him.
Amo Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Kalinic is a good player, but he's been shoehorned into a system which doesn't get the best out of him. What's the point having a decent target man if the midfield are always 40 yards behind him. Sign a new striker by all means, but invest what money we have left into an attacking midfielder.
den Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 What's the point having a decent target man if the midfield are always 40 yards behind him. We have been desperately short of goals and our 3 strikers have scored 8 goals between them. That's not all down to the midfield. Unless we get some quality into that part of the team, we'll struggle again no matter who plays in midfield.

Unless we get some quality into that part of the team, we'll struggle again no matter who plays in midfield. It's mostly down to the midfield, they simply don't create chances.
roversmum Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 What chances exactly do they want? There have been, over the last few matches, plenty of crosses that no one has got on the end of (for whatever reason) and plenty of scuffles in the box, in which a toe poke on the ball could have sent it in the net. I blame Souey, it's his fault Lady Luck doesn't like us ...
OJRovers Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I think it is unlikely Sam will go to 4-4-2 bext season, he already said that 442 is outdated and that most teams no longer use it. The most valueable players now are the ones who can link midfield to attack, which is what we need, I'm thinking Tevez or Rooney on a budget!!
